Ok I wanted to play Trumpet but I ended up on Flute. XD Did you start on the instrument you wanted or did you end up doing a different instrument? Also did you flip from a brass to a woodwind?

Wow so I guess it's normal not to start on the instrument you wanted. At least everyone so far enjoys their instrument! biggrin

I started on the instrument I had wanted from the start. :] Saxophone, since fourth grade. It would be interesting to see how good I'd be on a different instrument, though...anyway, I only play sax for marching season (oh, and tenor for jazz band), since I learned oboe for concert band my freshman year, but I still love sax. :]

At first I honestly though clarinet was what i wanted to play in 6th grade but when i got to 9th I realized that Clarinet was just a steping stone to what I really wanted. Bassoon. I still play clarient though for marching band.

I wanted to play the Flute or Saxophone. Long story for the saxophone, shortened by saying there is a Tenor Sax (My dad's) sitting in the Living Room, and I wanted to eventually have it, plus I liked the instrument itself.
But I ended up having a horrible embouchure for either one, and I ended up on French Horn. I have a feeling I like French Horn more than I would've liked Flute or Sax. Heh, the people are weirder and more like me. None of us or normal.
(I am stopping before I start typing/talking to the point where it is impossible to stop me.)

Oh definetely. xP I started on Trumpet but I wanted to play clarinet. But now that I'm a clarinet player, I want to play flute or piccolo in band instead of just in my free time. xD

When we had instrument-tryout night, I got decent points on everything except the oboe. It was the ONLY instrument I could not get a damned noise out of, and it still confounds me to this day.
I knew I'd be getting braces in the next year or so, so clarinet and trumpet and tuba (my top three winds) were out. I took the easy way out and joined percussion, which I had gotten full points on.
I am now eternally glad that I picked what I did, the percussion section is where I belong. I can't imagine being a wind at all, it just doesn't suit me. I may try a wind instrument someday, just for the heck of it...maybe a string too. But for now I am content hitting things as I always have been. heart
