This is a private RP between Huang-Fu [Nyxtsuki Moon] and Kotone [shyanimegrl].

Setting:

Early morning at the docks.
This place is new to her but familiar to him.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 06, 2010 9:08 pm

Sometimes Kotone would walk on the busier streets and at times she would be on the less frequented ones. Today she had been walking the later type routes without much reason to this than a selection akin to eeny-meeny-miny-mo. And as she walked, Kotone was humming a peaceful koto melody she felt matched this stroll's feel.

Then usually when she reached the boundaries that held the area of the docks beyond them, she would refrain from crossing them as she went on with her walks. However, today at the sight of said boundaries, she began walking back and forth along the border as she decided to do some thinking while gazing into the world beyond this line that she had yet to tread upon, her humming continuing as well.

The docks were among the places she was advised to avoid, as well as the marshlands and the great lake. Illegal activity could be found anywhere, but the notorious fact that this place was a hotspot for illegal business was probably why it was specifically identified by name in the list of dangerous areas her elders gave her.

But as an aspiring fighter, isn't exposure to danger so as to learn to handle it part of the path she has chosen? Starting with the docks as opposed to the marshlands and the great lake made sense, she reasoned in her thoughts as she was feeling insecure about going against advised avoidance of this area a few feet from her.

Having decided within the succeeding moment though, coupled with her recklessness winning her over, Kotone silenced her humming as she paused in her walk to swivel into a position facing the unknown straight ahead. Next, entering the docks' vicinity, she then took careful steps as she walked deeper into the unfamiliar surroundings, her eyes scanning and taking in the new sights.

Huang sighed he walked the docks. It was quiet besides the fisherman that had been out like always. It was rare to be noticed on the docks with so many leaving and going for work. The place wasn't particularly dangerous unless you found yourself where the sailors who had drunk to much the night before we're currently sleeping. They we're always itching for a fight when hung over, quick to put blame on somebody else than themselves for their massive morning troubles.

Huang thought in a way that was amusing and himself had gotten in a few of the brawls before ducking out so no one would recognize him. He found that sometimes it was better to watch how others fight to learn what to defend against.

He shouldered his bag that held his bait and collapsible fishing rod. In his right hand was a basket for his catch if he caught any. Setting about the day, he looked around to make sure no one was around before setting up his small fishing camp and putting together his rod. He looked out to the ocean and grimaced a bit, He was really not a good fisher, and so really did not enjoy the work of it, but appreciated that it allowed him to relax without worrying over his brother or missions or the Academy studies.

Letting the line loose, he waited for the first bite of the day. Aware people had started the early morning activities and thank the goddess that his spot was well hidden from civilians.

It was fairly quiet, she observed of the atmosphere as she continued looking around. And..it smelled. Fish, fish, and more fish, she noted about the air of the docks with a grin as thoughts on fish also led her to thoughts regarding the ocean. Could she hear it, she wondered and focused intently on listening while she checked to make sure her steps were quiet for her attempt to be more effective. However, Kotone's attempt did not succeed as she could not hear any sounds of splashes or waves that indicated the ocean over the nearer sounds of passersby and work preparations at the moment.

Full of spontaneity as usual, she set her mind on finding and seeing the ocean and shifted her objective to this. Aside from relying on hearing the ocean to locate it by narrowing the directions she could try moving to, Kotone then remembered the fishermen she would at times see on her strolls on their way to the docks. So, when her eyes noticed a group of Lunarians with fishing rods in tow, she followed them inconspicuously while carrying on with some sightseeing at the same time. Since said group was keeping to the quite comfortably populated path they were currently on, Kotone was relieved. If they had turned into a lesser populated path, she would have needed to consider halting her going after them. She was pleased to find that they had indeed been on their way to the ocean rather than another destination such as a warehouse for example.

Waa, incredible, she thought in awe at the sight before her as the ocean seemed to blanket the entire expanse she laid her eyes on as her head gradually traveled from left to right. She wanted to get as close a look at the ocean she could and thus, moved onward on land toward it until she could move forward no more.

Now she could hear the sounds of the ocean and this thrilled her, she crouched and hugged her knees as she looked toward the water if she could maybe see any fish. Learning some fishing skill would be worthwhile, was the next thought to come to her and she moved her head to look around, expecting to see fishermen having cast their lines.

However, it seemed she had managed to end up in an area that there was almost no one else around. She was about to leave for a more populated area, but at the sight of a dark blue clothed Lunarian setting up for fishing, her recklessness and curiosity took over. She wanted to watch and this time was mindful of avoiding her habit of remaining hidden and behaving like a stalker.

She approached the blue-haired fisherman quietly, stopped several feet away, and then addressed him, "Sir, um, excuse me."

Just as the line for Huang's fishing rod dropped into the large mass of water, his thoughts we're immediately disturbed. He had heard a group of men walk by earlier and had hoped they didn't notice him, It would be a disaster if he was found out in his time for silence.

He line got a few bites as he heard even quieter steps approach, the passerby paused and Huang knew then he needed to be quieter, for fear of attracting the one making the sound.

As he let his line hold, He steadied his breathing until letting it out in a whoosh, He had been discovered. Looking up to the one called his attention, he was surprised to see a fairly pretty woman asking him. As per se to his honor, Huang immediately got up and bowed to her in respect.

"Excuse me, Did you need something of me Lady---" Huang kept his head bowed while watching his line out of the corner of his eye, it was bobbling sightly which meant his bait was drawing something near.

As Kotone awaited a response from the fisherman, she very curiously from her place half-tiptoed to try to sneak peaks at the fishing line and the blue-haired Lunarian's fishing actions. She was a little taken aback when he did respond to her, her eyes darting from where the fishing rod's line met the water to him when he looked in her direction.

When he got up and gave her a bow, she reciprocated his bow with her own. She felt a bit puzzled that he kept his head bowed, since even though she did notice the bobbing line for having kept it in her peripheral vision inquisitively, she was still oblivious to what the bobbing meant.

First and foremost she wanted to apologize for disturbing him with her request, "I'm sorry for intruding..My name is Kotone, Wakahisa no Kotone..Um, may I ask what is your name, sir? And, also,.." Quickly removing one arm from one of her backpack's holds so that she swung it to the front of her hanging on one shoulder, she quickly pulled out from it a cloth wrapped bundle having met with some but manageable resistance separating the bundle from her bag. "I would like to ask: May you please let me accompany and watch you fish as I would like to learn a bit of fishing by watching you? And if so, please, I would like to give you these mandarins with my gratitude," she then slightly lifted the cloth bundle of oranges in her hands when she referred to them. Having refrained from her inappropriate habit of stalking, hiccups, and such mishaps so far, her soft voice currently held a bit more of a bearable degree of hesitance and such this time around so as not to greatly disappoint herself.

Gentlemanly. Strong-looking. Good-looking. These were the adjectives that ran through her mind about the blue-haired Lunarian when he answered her. If she hadn't been so preoccupied about possibly learning a bit about how to fish by watching him and given her eccentricity, she likely would have asked him straight away such questions as if he was a fighter and so on. Then, however, Kotone recalled having witnessed a sudden contrast in appearance and atmosphere manifested during a previous encounter with a warrior and she tensed a little as she braced herself reflexively so as not to be as shocked in the event that such a situation happened again.

And next, she felt again the tugging worry at the back of her mind that what she was offering and her gratitude were not good enough and she lowered her chin a bit, feeling ashamed again. However, she did not avert her eyes and wondered what the fisherman would decide and reply.

Huang lifted his head to stare at the woman as she tiptoed around suspiciously, Why it slightly amused him, he wasn't sure. He was more worried as to why she kept looking to his line. Speaking of the line, the tugs we're getting a bit stronger, signalling that the bait was either getting eaten slowly, or that the fish would be taking a bite out of it soon.

"I am Huang-Fu of the Lee's family." Huang kept his gaze on the woman now, studying her curiously. He wasn't use to such woman around him, the one he only knew was Shin-Mu. As She pulled out a handkerchief wrapped around something, Huang had taken a firm grip on his gloves in case of danger and almost instantly relaxed as she let the oranges fall in her hands. It was morning and he had not eaten, the oranges, with their bright color made his mouth salivate.

"I do not see why you would want to waste your morning as to watching me." Huang shifted, he wasn't going to get the quiet that he wanted, but then he couldn't refuse Kotone based on him being himself. Sighing he looked over to the oranges and plucked one out of her hands.

"Take a seat and try to remain quiet."
Huang looked over her again, "It is the nature of fish to be scared of loud sounds and noises. You want to be quiet and not attract their attention to you." Huang sat down at his rod that had stopped moving, either the fish had gotten away with his bait or it was bidding its time. Huang would do the same as he started to peel the orange and took a bite of the fruit, "Thank you for this gift Lady Kotone." Huang nodded at her while going quiet again.

Either she was going to sit next to him or not, He would let her decide. She was a bright woman, his first thoughts we're and curious and though curiosity always brought a disaster, He could understand her need to learn.

Kotone hung to each and every word Huang-Fu spoke and when he took one of the mandarins from those in her palms, her eyes lit up with hopefulness. And then when she received his permission to sit, a toothy smile had spread widely on her face. Delight had become evident on her features.

“Sir Huang-Fu, thank you very, very much,” Kotone’s soft voice thanked him happily. She almost bowed at her waist, nearly forgetting the fruits she was holding. But she caught herself before doing so, and bowed her head with her words of appreciation instead.

Then, she knelt and spread the cloth that wrapped the mandarin oranges beside where Huang-Fu sat and had the orange fruits rest on top of the cloth soundlessly at the same time. She would have hummed as she did this, but she didn’t want to scare the fish away and thus refrained from doing so. Instead, she settled for the closed, cheerful smile that curled the ends of her lips. And next, she took a seat to watch Huang-Fu fish, the mandarins between them and her backpack on the surface beside her on her other side.

She sat Indian-style, not slouching in posture, her eyes moving intently from Huang-Fu, observing his actions further, to tracing the rod from one end to the other in the water. The line was no longer bobbing.

Huang shifted a bit as time went by, Hie eyes kept over to gazing the girl who sat next to him and then back to his line. He would do this often as he was unsure exactly what he should be doing for her. He brought the line back in to put more bait on it and then cast it out.

The little floater on top bobbled slightly and Huang sighed now. Today seemed to be not a good day when his line bobbled deeply in the water, disappearing under the surface. He looked at Kotone in excitement.

"The first catch of today!" Huang reeled in the line as it closer to him, the sight of fish flopping in the water made his little fisher heart soar as he reeled it ever closer to him till he could pull it and throw it in the basket he had dedicated to caught fish.

He looked over to Kotone and studied her, "Thats Um...Thats how you catch a fish Lady Kotone." Huang wasn't sure what to do now, "Do you have questions?"
PostPosted: Tue Jun 22, 2010 7:57 pm

The depths of Kotone's eyes steadily held her liveliness and attentiveness. She took in the sights of Huang-Fu keeping watch of his line, bringing it back to work with it and then his sending it back into the water again. Witnessing fishing right before her eyes, everything was unfamiliar and incredible to her.

When the floater went under the water's surface, Kotone couldn't help a soft gasp. Was it a fish, the question arose in her thoughts when she looked towards him when she heard him begin to say:

"The first catch of today!"

Kotone was ecstatic as well upon his words confirming her enthusiastic guess and shifted onto her hands and knees to follow the events with her eyes' vision. She was mystified by how Huang-Fu knew how to handle the rod and challenge the fish.

"Thats Um...Thats how you catch a fish Lady Kotone."

"That was really amazing!" Kotone clapped zealously, looking back and forth between the water where heart pounding action had just transpired and Huang-Fu, the exemplary fisherman.

"Do you have questions?"

At this, there were many fishing questions wanting attention in her mind. She struggled a moment to pick and then eagerly choosing one, Kotone turned her focus to him and clasped her hands against her chest with entwined fingers. "Sir Huang-Fu," she asked him while still starry-eyed from watching the sensational catch, her tone was both composed and hopeful, "I would like to bring mandarins for you and look for you here and accompany and watch you fish and learn more little by little by doing so, may I please sometimes?"

Huang was a little taken aback, he wasn't use to people being interested in his...fishing skills? It wasn't that he got like on comers coming by but it was odd to see the woman so thrilled with the idea of returning.

He noticed her starry eyed look and kinda of shrinked back a bit. In truth he was a little intimated by the Girl and her odd request. He didn't even really know her besides her odd request of watching him fish and her name. In a way he was a little lost himself.

"Well Lady Kotone."
Huang was prepared to reject her on all accounts that he liked to fish alone and in quiet, but her hopeful gaze and offer of mandarins was putting a c***k in his no answer. It was like her being there was just cracking the rejection and he sighed loudly and deeply. He was a little too soft on the woman wasn't he?

"Well Lady Kotone..." Huang said again and stared at the fishing rod before firming himself on his decision, "I am here most mornings, but i do like to fish in other spots. We shall meet here in the morning on the break of dawn and we either will fish here or in other spots." Huang sighed again.

"Do you have your own gear or do you want to use...." Huang stiffened and let it roll over, "A Friends gear?"
PostPosted: Sat Jun 26, 2010 11:08 am

Intently awaiting Huang-Fu's reply again, Kotone's insecurities began to return to the task of prodding at her at such a time. As though with minds of their own, her uncertainties seemed to recognized her question-asking as one of her most vulnerable states and remembered to take full advantage of these opportunities to gnaw at her. However, given that her enthusiasm had just been fueled and blended with the fervor of her wish, both her enthusiasm and wishfulness together were overshadowing her insecurities on her features in this particular situation.

She acknowledged the possibility that he may decline and had begun to feel sorry that she was possibly troubling Huang-Fu upon his deep sigh. But being the oddity she was, Kotone was certainly one whose hopefulness would be hard pressed to be extinguished.

"I am here most mornings, but i do like to fish in other spots. We shall meet here in the morning on the break of dawn and we either will fish here or in other spots."

Thus, when Huang-Fu's answer was received by her, if her joy could fuel a celestial body, she would have lit up like a star. She smiled toothily again, and merrily affirmed that she understood regarding meeting and thanked Huang-Fu, "Yes, Sir Huang-Fu, thank you so much!" Her voice even with its evidently joyful tone somehow managed to still come off as quietly delivered, and though she wasn't skipping around in happy circles, there seemed to be such a dance reflected in her eyes' gaze.

And then, she witnessed the delivery of his next words, his question. It did not go unnoticed by her that he had stiffened. If her heart was a harp, she had just felt a sad sort of note played upon it. Huang-Fu's expression just now was not something she'd just seen for the first time or second, she wasn't keeping count of such things though.

Kotone had placed her hands on her lap and now they fisted in her skirt a tad. Concern for Huang-Fu was pushing aside other thoughts in her mind and then she said her words in response. "No, I..I don't have my own gear," she replied honestly and humbly since even just the mention of the word gear was quite puzzling to her in terms of fishing. She then, now with worry in her tone, continued to speak, "Sir Huang-Fu, is..is your friend fighting in the war?" Her concern was expressed also in her eyes as she asked him.

Huang shook his head at the woman's glee, it was a wonder when one like herself was merely excited by the thought of fishing. It was of no problem to him really, he wasn't going to be rude in all truth he might enjoy somebody else for a little company. It was time for him to get over his past now and move on. Sighing he turned to gather his gear again, making sure everything was packed and loosened his body. He needed to relax a degree or he would scare Kotone.

"Your welcome Lady Kotone." He didn't look at her now as he packed his gear, trying to ignore the tingly feeling of her watching him. Obviously him stiffening had not gone over as smooth as he believed it would.

He turned to look at her now with a blank stare, a mask of his true emotions at her question. "No..." Huang said curtly before looking to his gear and remaining in silence. He felt guilty that he he snapped at her but it wasn't really for her to know of yet.

"I will bring you gear tomorrow than Lady Kotone, Do not forget, here at dawn." He kept his face carefully blank. He was trying to take a step here in letting his friend go so he could move on but it was hard. This had been and his friends past time. "Do not worry as much Lady Kotone." He patted her head before heading off, "See you here tomorrow..."
PostPosted: Sat Jun 26, 2010 9:46 pm

Kotone's focus on Huang-Fu's words was steady and did not falter. Even before he had answered her question, she felt sorry. Even with her concern, she knew it was still a rude question to ask, especially since she was a stranger. She was angry at herself for troubling others with actions she deemed were of her shameful tendency not to think through enough. And when he answered her question in the manner he had, her hands' holds on her skirt tightened. But, she did not turn her gaze away from him and continued to focus on him, his words and actions. She wanted to receive his reactions and felt she would deserve it if he treated her coldly. But, she felt that Huang-Fu was responding to her kindly, not coldly at all.

Huang-Fu's friend.. Kotone did not want the possibility that this individual perished fighting in the Noble-Legion struggle to be true.

"Do not worry as much Lady Kotone."

Then, when he spoke these words to her, Kotone then lessened the worry on her features and loosened her hands gripping her skirt, the tips of her mouth smiling softly with her sincerely spoken words, "I'll do my best..not to worry as much." She did not avoid his hand that patted her on the head, feeling that she could trust him.

"See you here tomorrow..."

Already she was looking forward to tomorrow and with a beaming smile at the thought of watching him fish again, she replied, "Yes, Sir Huang-Fu, see you tomorrow..I won't forget."

Huang tapped his foot as he waited in the same fishing spot dock as he had been yesterday. An Extra set of gear, His friend Yuan's was laying down on the ground by his feet as he waited for the Lady Kotone to make her way to the humble little spot.

He was still unsure why he talked to the girl and offered fishing lessons too, nor why he offered her the gear of his deceased friend the one who taught him the joys and pains of fishing.

In truth, Huang didn't even really like fishing just because it had been a activity for him and Yuan and found it slightly intruding that Lady Kotone would be the one now intruding his fishing time. But at the same time the girl was curious and Huang had a healthy respect for those who we're straight forward with what they wanted and seeked.

Maybe that's what intrigued him about her, if anything all he would lose was fishing quiet time for a bit of socializing with a pretty but entertaining friend. In the end maybe it would be him that would learn something instead of just her.

He sighed again and let his mind wander but alert for her.
