Flocks of Lunarians hit the streets of Main Street in the late afternoon as the sun began to sink off into the horizon. It was a known fact that once the many academy students had been released from their school shackles they added to this growing consumer population, itching to relieve themselves of whatever coin they carried. Normally Cais would not be one of these teenage Lunarians luxuriously strolling out on a school day to spoil himself with what have you. Today was a different day though and as he wisked his way down the main path of the booming crowds he muttered that fact to himself in the way of, "A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do."
The "do" of the statement had little connection with being a man in this case. It was "necessity" that drove him. Or, what he deemed to be necessary. Losing ones socks probably wouldn't drive him to be humiliated or anything, but he felt without the socks he was looking far too feminine to even enter his own home. Though he could save himself some coin by just putting one of his many other pairs, he wasn't going to risk it. Thus the rush from the Academy and aimless wandering of main street ensued.
Impatiently he swung his gaze from side to side, studying the shops while eagerly searching for his saving grace. His eyes widened with excitement after a carefully crafted wooden sign swung his way. Grinning with satisfaction he entered and immediately began a frantic search for his usual long white socks. Slinking around the small mob of Lunarians blocking the front door, he found himself alone behind a tall display where socks of all shades and colors had been collected. Sighing to himself he shook his head and glared down at them. Where was the simplicity he was craving?

There was once a time when Kotone sighted a dog lounging in a garden. She had then spaced herself from other picnickers and taken a seat to enjoy her bento while also, like nearby Lunarians, delighting in glancing from her meal to watch the charming canine. There was nothing really disturbing about this, most would say.
However, most would say that there was something certainly disturbing about a Lunarian following two other Lunarians into an apparel shop to watch them. And this was exactly what Kotone had just done, and only when she had fully stepped through the shop entrance had she realized this. Hoping to avoid committing further impoliteness, she decided to stay and browse for a bit instead of leaving right away.
So here she was, pretending to look through a shelf of accessories and mentally chastising herself. Weirdo!! What have you just done?! Why couldn't you have just thought 'Aww, how cute, a little girl and her mother are having fun on their outing' and left it at that?!
As though punishment was being delivered upon Kotone from the heavens, said little girl let out a little squeal of glee, which Kotone's imagination magnified and warped into one of horror. Kotone felt as if her blood had just run dry.
"Look there, Mom, look!"
I've been caught as a stalker, Kotone felt certain as she turned to face the mother and daughter with a panicked gaze.
"Hush and don't point."
"I want it. It's the same color as my ribbon." Needless to say, this phrase puzzled Kotone a moment and then led to her immense relief when it sunk in that the child wasn't pointing at her.
"Alright then let's have a look at it," was the mother's reply to her child. Kotone looked around and quickly discovered what it was that the little girl wanted and it was a hat. Without hesitation, Kotone reached over the display and plucked said hat off of Cais' head without realizing there existed the wearer and owner of it on the other side. The hat was next promptly delivered to mother and child by Kotone so that the two needed not to traverse the distance themselves.
And so after exchanging courtesies, Kotone attempted a smooth escape. A grin had spread on her features when she was just a few more steps from the exit.

A gasp escaped his lips as the normal weight of his hat lifted from him. Blinking erratically he reached his hands to his head and patted the empty space. "Hey!" He bellowed out, quickly looking over the display towards the offending hands. "My hat!" He called. Narrowing his eyes he glanced across the shop to sort through the faces and find the culprit. He felt naked without his hat, it had been a gift from his mother from a young age and as he grew became a part of him. With it no gone from his atop his head he could feel the chill on the previously warm spot in his hair.
Shaking away from the odd feeling he skidded behind the display with an accusative finger pointed in the direction of the little girl who now clutched his hat tightly in her small fingers. "Give that back, you!" he said, voice raised. Blinking slightly he pulled his finger back, though driven by a sudden anger he was confused. "Wait, how did...?" he muttered, staring at the mother and child dumb-foundedly.

Kotone had in fact heard Cais' 'hey,' but having been preoccupied with her own internal crisis, she had decided to conclude that it was another one of her delusions, that she had just imagined the hat talk. Kotone also did hear Cais' 'my hat,' and though suspicion crept into her awareness that the hat really could talk, she dismissed this idea as nonsense in the following moment. However, the question of why the hat would say 'my' had next begun to itch in her thoughts, but was lost in her interaction of delivering the headwear. She as if froze solid as ice before reaching the exit though when she heard the same voice again and what it declared. Upon looking back, she was horrified. She was not only a stalker but also a thief! And the proof? The proof was the Lunarian before her who uttered a confused question with a voice that matched those she imagined was the hat's. This was all the proof she needed to confirm her own treason. She felt very, very ashamed. "Umm..sir..?" Kotone addressed the light green and yellow dressed Lunarian as she approached him slowly from the exit, her hands clutching the ends of her skirt at her sides in embarrassment. "Umm, sir..about the hat.." her soft voice came again when there was several feet between them.

Taking his glance back from the mother and daughter pair, his crimson eyes fell on the bashful Lunarian. Blinking slightly he roughly replied to her, "Well, spit it out." He was far more than annoyed but for sake of the small Lunarian girl in close quarters, he refrained from what he truly wanted to say.
He took a step towards her, glaring out from under his anger-stricken forehead. The back of his head was a mess with the sea-foam green hairs curling and frizzing in every corner. It was a sight to behold on the short Lunarian, as normally he went to every length he could to keep his unruly hair hidden. Now with his hat gone, he settled in his embarrassed and humiliated irritation. Gazing at her, he felt an eyebrow go up over his left eye. "Wait, were YOU the one that took my hat?" he said, accusatively.

When Kotone’s nervous increases, the reasons are a bit more due to her being insecure of her capabilities or ashamed of her mistakes and having behaved inappropriately or both than external factors such as how intimidated she is with an opponent’s weapon and so on. Also when her nervousness has increased, Kotone’s imagination tends to exaggerate the parts of the situation, including the reactions she sees and the atmosphere she feels, and then reacts according to the surroundings she has warped in her mind. This case within the apparel shop is no exception to Kotone’s mentality. At his initial words towards her, Kotone couldn't help but reflexively bite her lower lip for a moment and avert her gaze downward from his briefly. When he next took a step forward toward her, she couldn't help but subconsciously take a step back. Slowly she seemed to liken to a cowering bunny rabbit. She gave a guilty nod of her head and affirmed her confession with one word, "Yes." "I-I'm very sorry," she went on, her soft voice stuttering a bit in slight agitation, her head still stuck on how she topped her stalking off with thievery, "I-I didn't see you." Get a grip on yourself, she mentally instructed herself, acting this way won't do any good. "Sir, I'll-I'll go get your hat," her small voice spoke again, slightly steadier. She had been so focused on communicating with the green-haired Lunarian that she hadn't noticed the mother and child absent themselves from where she last saw them, the mother possibly having interpreted the situation as a quarrel about who saw the hat first. And so she shifted most of her balance from right to left tiptoeing and then began to turn in a circle while doing this to check for the hat's location, her toes moving with a soft pitter patter. She imagined she was likely testing his patience involuntarily with this whole mess and wanted to fix the situation as quickly as she could, her hands clutching the sides of her skirt a tad more tightly as several seconds passed.

Noticing the Lunarian girl shrink behind his boisterous voice stopped Cais in his tracks. Taking a look into her bright eyes it was apparent she was rightfully nervous with a hint of fear. Clearly she had meant no harm - a misunderstanding. Slowly the rage from his face left him leaving him standing, though scowling, calmer than he had been. Letting out a deep sigh his brightly colored eyes caught hers. "Forget what I said. Look.." he began, watching her move away from him slowly.
Perplexed, he blinked in her direction. "Uhh.." he vocalized towards her, then shook his head to escape the awkward tension. "I would like it back, and I do have to hold you responsible," he paused, "...I'm not mad." he stated, somewhat biting his lip. The raging hormones were building again and though he attempted to hold them back it was apparent on his face. As was with Cais, if he felt something you knew it and the "pissy" nature of the ordeal had left it's mark on him. Biting his lip to fight his rough voice he managed to grunt out, "Just get it back." Another pause. "Please." he added, curtly.
His head felt cold and alien to the world around it which caused the Lunarian boy great discomfort. More-so than the ordeal it self it was this discomfort which was riding his emotions. Theft? Alright. Making him lose his cool? Sure. Make him seem like a grade-a a**? That's all fine. Take away his hate and thus make him uncomfortable? Not happening. Gritting his teeth lightly, he kept his eyes on the girl.

While Kotone was looking around full circle, she also remained listening and paying nervous attention to her unintended victim. After doing so, the conclusion was that she did not spot the parent and child with hat. She gave the green-haired Lunarian two accompanying nods in affirmative with her slightly stuttering and shaky words, "I-I'll go get your hat back, sir, I promise." And then she dashed off in the direction of the exit, thinking she'd check if the mother and child were on their way out. She halted sharply and abruptly executed an about face inches from said exit. She then took gradual steps forward into the shop again as her head darted from left to right, repeated this, and then scanned twice more a little bit slower. However, she didn't see them heading out as of yet and hurriedly ran in the direction of the check-out counter in hopes that they were there. Her mind was stumbling over thoughts in her somewhat panicky state. It only occurred to her in the middle of this run that she may have looked like she was fleeing away from the whole mess. She also considered that it was inappropriate to run like she was doing in the shop and so, she transitioned to a rushed walk. Where was the hat she inwardly questioned, the feeling of desperation slowly crawling up in intensity level. Her eyes' gaze was still traveling through the field of vision accessible to her as she moved. ((I've posted an idea of a battle scenario possibility in Cais' plot thread, Nev. xD;;; ))

Frustration had settled in and Cais felt his eyes flare up at the sight of the Lunarian girl trying to flee the scene. Though he had heard her words, the actions he witnessed were far from echoing them. As she ran about Cais could only think to himself, This girl is a loon, and shook his head disapprovingly. What else could he do? He had long ago lost sight of the child and mother criminal pair and scanned the shop himself to survey the situation. They had vanished, more than likely to avoid a confrontation with his livid nature. A deep sigh escaped his lips in aggravation as he took a few steps in the direction of the girl. "I guess they've gone, and you know what that means." he said, throwing what little weight he had at her. With index finger pointed at her he prepared for a "ball-breaking" speech, but lost the words as something green appeared in his peripheral vision.
Quickly, his body turned in the direction, but to little elation. He was sure a body had been moving either holding or, god forbid, WEARING his hat, yet now had seemed to escape him. Where would they go? What purpose is there to steal a hat they knew was stolen? These ideas came to him as he turned his glance back towards the now stationary Lunarian girl. "You owe me." He said, scowling at her. "You can't get out of this! If not for you..." He trailed off as the flash of green returned towards the main desk. Blinking, he took several steps towards the girl, glancing beyond her to the desk. Was it his hat? He squinted. Through his flaring anger he had failed to leave room for logic. Where else COULD his hat be?
Moving back a few steps, he locked eyes with her once more. "Did you check the lost and found?" He crossed her arms and gazed at her, shifting the blame solely back to her. Failing to realize the angle of a possible "good samaratin". That perhaps the mother and child had, in their attempt to escape the argument at hand, left the hat at the main desk in hopes one of them would check it, then slipped out without attracting attention to themselves. "Tch." Cais went on, keeping his arms crossed, turning to his side and glaring her way. "You better HOPE it's there." he threatened, knowing she would probably catch the "or else" without him having to vocalize it. This threat came off big only in his voice affliction, however. Now as he was close to her it was no great task to see the size of him. As in most confrontations, he was banking that his voice would be enough for intimidation and that she would be too preoccupied to notice. After all, justice would be that the thief would be the one to return it, why should he act any differently towards her?

When she had began scouring the shop, Kotone couldn't really divide her attention as evenly on her search and the exactness of her victim's sentences as he checked to be sure she would follow through with her responsibility of returning his hat. She was certain though despite not being able to take in the specific order of words he directed at her in her preoccupation that he had in fact interpreted her behavior as cowardly trying to escape.
She was disappointed in herself. She recognized that she behaved in a misleading manner and fashion of actions. And, she felt that why she was often being misunderstood was due to her lack of effort in correcting herself. In trying to proceed in a less confusing way in her life was another area she was lacking in, another area she fell short in adequacy.
But, these feelings, she currently only allowed to occupy the back of her mind at the moment.
She had spotted the mother and child.
Huh? Lost and found?
"You better HOPE it's there."
Kotone was trying to process to a functional degree what her surroundings were throwing at her mind to analyze.
“Uh, yes, sir,” she replied with another nod, her speech quite rushed before she walked on, her mind and thus legs as well though were not set on a decision until she had another display obstruct her path.
She then decided to first check with the mother and child. But as she neared them, she overheard:
“Moooomm, why can’t I haaave iiit?”
“Its not one of the things for sale. Its owner probably lost it.”
“Bu-but, I want finders keepeeers.”
“Shhhh, now, now, it might have lice.”
“Lice, what’s lice? I don't care what's that. Awww, mooom, I still want iiiit!”
“Come now, calm down. We’ll find another hat you’ll like.”
Upon overhearing up to this point, Kotone next swiftly changed course to the cashier’s location.
“Excuse me, I’m looking for a yellow and light green hat,” came Kotone’s hopeful and slightly frantic voice as she addressed the lady behind the staff counter.
When she was granted the sought-after hat, she rushed through the store again, searching for its owner as she didn‘t remember the exact place she‘d last seen him.
Finally crossing paths with him again, she offered his hat back to him, "Sir, I'm sorry, here you go."

At the sight of the stolen treasure, his eyes lit up. With a forceful grab he snatched from her grip, shoving it down on his head. A relaxed feeling surged through his body. "Finally." he muttered, fixing wayward strands of hair sticking out of the hat. Taking a moment to recompose himself he let out a deep breath, then turned his attention towards his agressor. An awkward silence passed while the tension rose between them. Pursing his lips he let out a small sigh. "Thanks." he mumbled at her, with an indignant, "Don't do it again." afterwards.
The entire ordeal had barred his thinking of what his original need had been. Failing to remember, his expression darkened. Tensing his arms he clenched his fists, taking his eyes from the girl. He couldn't find anything to say, everything in his mind was either not sincere or far too harsh considering she had gone to the trouble to correct the error. Looking back one last time he glared, then hurried to the exit and down the street, hoping for her sake she would stay out of his way from there on out.
