Thunder rolled in the distance, lightning streaking the darkly ominous clouds. A sleek, dark brown female paced before a large window, her golden eyes flicking back and forth between the sky and the front door of the house. The tree line around the structure was dark, for night had fallen, which only made her more anxious.

"Do no fret, dear kitling, your son will come home when he is ready," purred a golden a female, tucked snugly on a leather couch with her sake dragon. She was Avarice, Sin of Greed, mother of the pacing vixen.

Ushara turned her head, her ears laid back on her head, and attempted a smile. "I know, Mother, but I'm still worried. He could be anywhere!" Thunder rolled across the sky again, making her cringe. As a mother, she worried for her children. As a Fey woman and an AI, she knew they could handle themselves. She bit her lip, wishing her mate would come back from whatever he was doing and calm her down like only he could.

Avarice smiled at her daughter, watching as she paced a moment then paused, staring out the window, before resuming her pacing. Havarand, the sake dragon curled loosely around her neck and shoulders, smiled. "The Ssin-kit fretss, my-Ava. Sshall we look with her?" She suggested in her odd, hissing voice.

Lightning flashed, illuminating the room briefly, and the back door slammed closed. Her heart fluttering, Ushara ran towards the sound, hoping it was her mate and her children. Disappointment--though only a small tendril--curled around her when she saw it was only one of them.

Ladon shook his fur, dragging a paw through his messy black hair, before lifting his eyes to his mother. "Mela," he crooned, opening his arms to squeeze her in a tight hug, "I did not find Gepa or Sophie, nor did I see any sign of Zeru. Though he said he would be here soon." Sparks of lavender light shone in his eyes, his gaze going hazy for a moment as he spun a call to his brother. Moments later, he smiled, refocusing on the smaller female before him. "Correction. He is here, and he has someone he wishes us to meet," he murmured, taking his mother by the paw to gently escort her back into the living area.

"Ladon! My sweet kitling," Avarice smiled, leaping lithely from the couch to kiss both of her grandson's cheeks. "You are never in the house. Do you not love your old grandmother?" She pouted, twitching her gold beaded tail.

"Old!?" Ushara gasped, laughing softly, "Mother, you are far from old." She laughed at her mother's snort once again and turned her attention to the window, watching as her other son's white form came into view. With him, there another fox, their pelt various shades of blue and white. She did not recognized the colours or markings, but her heart jumped the moment she realized it was a female. "Oh, Zeru..."

~*~*~*~

Above the house, Zeru clutched Avia to him. His weaves still held strongly in place, protecting her from the viciousness of the on-coming storms. Snapping his wings wide, he guided them to the ground a few feet away from the door, his dark eyes scanning the house quickly. "I only see Mela, Gramma, and Ladon right now, shei'tani. But, just because it is only them doesn't mean you won't be bombarded with questions," he chuckled, feathering kisses over her lips.

Now was as good a time as any, he supposed. "Shall we, kem'san?" He smiled, curling his tail around hers as he lead her forward. He could almost hear his mother's shriek to come when she gathered all the details. A tiny smirk morphed his smile, twisting it on his lips, as he fought to contain his laughter at what was to come.

"It was a dark, and stormy night!" A voice announced, ghosting past his ear and then it, and his sister, were gone amongst the trees. Any mortal would be lost in this wood a thousand times over, and they were generally intelligent enough to know when a camping trip was out of the question. He chuckled, too low for the prey but that didn't mean Adaliz would miss it, and it would have been all too easy to shift the noise into a growl instead. He could practically taste the creatures running about just under his nose, just a few strategic moves and... but no. He had promised he'd be home tonight, and 'Shara had a ridiculous tendency to worry about him whenever he was late. If he didn't get there soon, he would be. Lockesley paced, working on convincing himself that just because he knew the location of every living creature in a mile radius (at least), that he could hear their heartbeats and feel their warmth, did not mean he should give in to the temptation of it.

He forced himself to concentrate on only his surroundings, nothing more. It was a pretty picture, in a way his family would likely appreciate more than most. Rain pelting down at a near perfect diagonal, everything similarly effected by that, and the whole ecosystem of the forest reacting as it should. He wasn't though, reacting as he should. He should have been home by the fire before it had started, and also he should have been home before his mate began to realize that.

"Hee-eey. There's no way she's worried yet." Adaliz said, appearing in front of him like a burst of color, looking soaked to the bone. Her leathery wings fluttered with deliberate slowness, her head tilting sideways at him with deep-bronze eyes. He knew she was only trying to knock him out of his thinking, from standing and pawing at the ground for minutes, looking restless and frustrated. It just wasn't working very well. With a sigh, he replied and began prowling forward, "Liar."

The storm must have been worse now than he had originally assumed (as it was often worse on this side of town), because suddenly a small creature ran straight across his path blindly. He tended to ignore mother nature, she didn't generally effect him except in a predictably fashion, and he was a vampire after all. He seemed to have more self control than his sister, who darted after the scrawny thing, her having followed him. His tail lashed, realizing he was late now as well, and with a huff relaying his barely restrained instincts, he raised his voice, "Sophie, do stop jumping in puddles and get over here please."

The next moment she was there, hair sopping and half-curled where it held water, eyes a direct match to his own. "Hey papa. I was wondering when you would call, we're late. Momma's probably wor-" The look on his face must have stopped her, so she let out a half sigh and turned to face the direction Liz had recently run off in. "Hey Auntie~ You're invited too, you know." Lock groaned and ran a paw over his own soaked face, realizing belatedly and stupidly that everything would be impossible to trace the next day. They were going to be later than he had originally intended.

(lD Annoying reply, I know. I don't know, however, why I only went with Lock's point of view. They'll find their way home next post prolly, just wanted to give everyone sufficient time to worry about those indestructible sparkly dudes in the woods.)

Holding tight to her mate, Avia watched the world below as they flew. She was quite capable of flying herself, but why not accept the wondrous, comforting flight in the arms of her mate? His magic was warm and wonderful as he made sure to keep her from freezing and protecting her.. though she was part winter Goddess... once again.. the sweet thought that counts.

When they landed and she got her footing she stared at the doorway, nervous as anything. She returned his kisses but her mind was on other things... her eyes were still set on the house. Now the want to hide came into place.. why now of all times? She was such a social creature, loved meeting new foxes and loved companionship. It was the fact that she felt like she had to impress them... more-so than anyone else she had met before. That unsure feeling did not go over well for her.

Avia took in a deep breath and let it out slowly, a light flurry flowing forth. It managed to bring a small smile to her face. Thinking things would only get worse if they waited longer she nodded to Zeru. "Yes... Let us go in now Shei'tan."

The moment Zeru crossed the threshold, his mother threw her arms around him, tears shining in her eyes. "Ru, you scoundrel, you worry me almost as much as your father does!" She gasped, clutching her youngest son to her. A soft, melodious laugh rang across their ears, making the white male look up. His Gramma stood, smiling at her daughter and grandson, pride making her silvery-golden glow brighten. Ushara huffed at her mother, kissing him quickly on his cheek, before releasing him so he could go to her.

"My, my. You look wonderful, kitling. So much like the warrior you and your brother are," Avarice murmured, her golden chocolate eyes shining. Around her neck, Havarand uncurled, giving him an odd fanged smile. "Yess," she hissed, avoiding using Feyan too much around the "younglings" as she called them, "You will both be sstrong fatherss when the time iss right."

"Ha! Typical Hava, always taking about children," Ladon piped up, having appeared suddenly at his brother's side. His golden topaz eyes fell on his lighter sibling, a bright smile beaming across his face. "So, brother, where is this shei'tani you told me about earlier?" He announced, loud enough for his entire family to hear, sending the same thought spearing into the woods around the house, searching for his father.

Three female heads snapped up, three pairs of eyes landing on Zeru like six tons of weight as they waited for his answer. Thanks, brother. I'll make sure to return the favor. He growled mentally before smiling at his family. "She's right here," he purred, stepping aside and dropping the sight shield he'd woven around her just before entering. He'd hoped to surprise them, but, as always Ladon had sensed that intent and utterly shattered it. “Mela, Brother, Gramma, Havarand, this is my shei’tani, Avia.

A small, high pitched squeal ripped from his mother's throat as she threw herself at him once again, squeezing him tighter than before. "You have no idea how much I've prayed for this, Ru! And you're finally getting it and... and... " She stopped, her voice choked with the happy tears running down her face. Then, in a flash, her attention snapped to the female behind him. Her jaw dropped upon closer examination of the vixen. She was a Goddess. Her son's soul mate was a Goddess. Her legs went weak and began to shake, though she refused to fall. With quick steps, she came forward, gathering Avia in her arms. "Welcome, dear." she whispered, squeezing her gently once before letting her go, a bright smile on her tear streaked face.

The click of nails on wood, soft and barely audible, came closer and stopped, pulling the golden brown form of the family’s “matriarch”. Avarice’s golden chocolate eyes scanned the Goddess, examining her from the tips of her ears to the tip of her tail. “She is quite pretty, Zeru-kitling,” she purred, approval ringing in her soft voice. With a smile, she took her daughter’s place and hugged the Goddess before her.

Ladon’s ears dropped, his eyes flashing with bright green sparks. “Congratulations, Brother,” he murmured, curling his tail around his legs.

Zeru growled softly, moving towards his brother to drape his single feathered wing over him, “You will find someone, Brother. No one deserves it more than you.” He smiled briefly to him, then turned his eyes toward the window. “Mela? Where is Gepa? He was supposed to be here with Soph and Aunt Liz, was he not?

Ushara rolled her eyes, huffing slightly. “You know how your father is, Ru. He looses track of time.” Her ears flickered back, pressing against her skull. Her gold eyes darkened, glaring out the window. She did not like the fact that her mate did get sidetracked sometimes, but she didn’t like the fact that he still refused to take her with him every now and then. She would have to talk to him about that when the children weren’t around. Isn’t that just silly? All of them are vampyres like he is, so they’d know anyway. She chuckled to herself, moving to her curl her tail affectionately around her mother and sons, giving Avia a warm smile as she waited eagerly for the rest of their family to arrive.

Happy eyes danced across the scene as Avia watched from behind Zeru. Her eyes watched carefully as she tried to pick out who was whom among the group. She was ever so glad to not be seen by them right away.. her nerves were very much getting the best of her at the moment... and she was sure Zeru could feel it from her. Amusement swept over her as she tried not to laugh when the mention of him becoming a father someday was brought up... though it was even more amusing that the familiar had brought it up.

She was pretty sure who was whom by now. The beautiful golden fox was his... Gramma. Tilting her head and taking a look at the other female she had become sure that she was his Mela. Both were quite stunningly beautiful to her. She was a bit surprised by the other male's sudden appearance. He looked a bit mischievous at that moment when he smiled at Zeru... making her nervous once again.

Her ears pinned back quickly as he mentioned her. 'Why? Why'd he have to do that?' ran through her head. She was so contented to watch them.. it made her so happy. Preparing herself she took in a deep breath, but it almost made her feel like passing out. As she became visible to them her face flushed red and she turned her head to the side a bit.. feeling like she was being put on for show. A small, trickling laugh did manage to work its way out at his Mela's scream. Worry had then washed over Avia as she was being examined... was it good or bad?... she didn't know... that was until she was scooped up into the other's arms. Feeling grateful for the moment she wrapped her arms around his Mela giving her a squeeze as well, though she could not find the words to say she was happy for the welcome. Her face blushed once more at his Gramma's compliment. She felt like a dinner plate being passed around as she received a hug from her as well and gave a small laugh at that thought. Quiet words tumbled out from Avia's mouth "Beylah vo... for welcoming me into your home... and family." She sure hoped that she had said that right.

A light rumble of a purr came forth as she watch her love with his brother. They were such a family.. and this was only part of it. 'It can only get better from here.' she thought to herself.. sending a little wish to the heavens along with it just to be on the safe side. Avia still wished to hide behind Zeru though and she did just that for she was still terribly nervous and hiding behind him helped her not feel it as much. She was contented to watch Zeru and his Mela talk. She wondered when she would meet more of his since some seemed to be missing from the scene.

Just as he thought, the rain wasn't as heavy on this side of town. When he finally got close enough that he could see the familiar house, Lockesley spun and growled in irritation when his sister and daughter finally appeared from the trees behind him. "Stop acting like a couple of newborns, I-"

"Locke, calm down."
Adaliz replied, her tone echoing her own words. "We get it, you're stressed about being late, and freaking out because of the family get together. No, you haven't set a bad impression. No, your mate isn't going to be angry with you."

He huffed in response, breath not coming out like a puff of steam like it should. He knew she wasn't lying to him, but it hardly soothed his worries. He paced for a moment, until Sophie stuck her tail into his path and forced his eyes to meet her matching ones again, a smile playing across her lips.

"Papa, waiting won't help. We need to dry off before we go in, and the entrance is likely to be blocked for the next hour at this rate. Zeru's finally brought his girlfriend, can't you see that from here?"

Lockesley nodded to her, pressing his nose to her forehead briefly and then setting off sulkily around the house. He could see that his son was in love with a Goddess, he wasn't sure how he could've missed it. And while he felt that he wasn't an especially good father, it was part of his duty to give them his blessing, and he would do so. Just as he would for Ladon and Sophie, when their times came. Thinking of his own father made him finally quirk a smile, and he was reaching for the spare towels soundlessly now, in a rush to get to 'Shara at last.

Liz followed her brother around to the back of the house with some reluctance. He constantly got his feathers ruffled about next to nothing, and honestly, why was he trying to make a silence entrance? Letting Sophie dry herself off first, she stood there, dripping, and looking thoughtful for a moment. Finally she grinned, and Lockesley turned to see her and scowled, but she ignored him and raised her voice to call out to her brother's family, and somehow her own. "We're ho-oomme~" <3

Avarice's golden chocolate eyes shot to Avia, pinning her with a soul deep stare, a smile playing on her slowly curving lips. "The Goddess-kitling speaks Fey," she announced proudly, the small dragon curling around her neck slithered, poking her head over her vixen's shoulder. Their matching gazes held her, pride radiating around them like a living fog.

Ushara's gold eyes lifted, laying questioningly on her lighter son. "She is Fey, Ru?" She asked, her voice dripping astonishment. She'd believed that her mother was the only Fey vixen known of. If she wasn't, then there could be more Fey, ones that could be her other children's truemates.

"Nei, she is not. She simply wanted to learn, so I taught her the basics and I am going to finish teaching her the language," he answered, moving away from his family to wrap his tail around his mate. A deep, loving purr rumbled through his throat as Zeru nuzzled her, letting is confidence in her flow across the bond-threads.

Off in the corner, still tightly wrapped around his mother, Ladon twitched. Inwardly, he was fighting back one of his fits, something his Gramma obviously noticed. Slowly, he watched her come forward, whisper something to his mother, and take his paw. His topaz eyes flickered over to his brother. "Happy for you, Ru," he croaked, turning tail to go with the older female.

With a heavy heart, Ushara watched as her mother escorted her eldest son into the kitchen. She hated that the two had to share something so bad together, but there was nothing she could do for her mother. If she could find Ladon a mate, maybe that would work for him. But her mother? No, she had lived with it for too long, nothing could help her mother. Pushing back the tears in her eyes, she smiled up at the two remaining in her living room. "Well, dear Avia, why don't we sit and make ourselves comfortable, hm?" She smiled, trying to seem as chipper as she usually was.

Dark onyx eyes pinned her, weighing heavily on her. He knew what she was thinking, somehow she knew he knew. "Aiyah," he agreed slowly, leading both of them towards the leather couch his Gramma had been laying on before. After helping his mother get comfortable, his ear twitched, a familiar scent reaching his nose. "Mela, Sophie and Gepa are here," he paused, Liz's call cutting through his voice, a smirk playing on his lips, "Aunt Liz, too."

Relief spilled into her as she leapt up, running for the door to wrap her arms around her mate. She didn't care if he was soaked from the rain or not. He was home. He was in her arms. He was safe. Pulling back, she smiled at him, kissing him quickly before she remembered she'd been worried sick. Her golden eyes darkened and she huffed slightly, "You really worry me too much, Lockey." Her lips twitched, her happiness at him being home overriding her previous agitation. She sighed, giving in to the smile struggling it's way across her lips, before pressing her nose to his, a small purr emitting from her throat. “Come, my love, you have to meet our son’s mate,” she smiled, her eyes glittering with the happy tears she still wanted to shed for them.

Avia's eyes grow wide at the stare of his Gramma.. too nervous to blink or look away. She was relieved by the look in her and her dragon's eyes... for it was a look of praise. Eyes looking to his Mela than to her mate as he was questioned. She was quite confused about what was going on because she didn't quite understand what made one a Fey.

A soft purr rumbled out from her throat as Zeru wrapped his tail around her and nuzzled her. As always, he sent nothing but wonderful feelings to her through their bond. She bows her head towards his Mela and Gramma. "Aiyah, I asked him to teach me." She smiled at Zeru happily, feeling more confident. "and he is a most wonderful teacher. I can not wait to learn more from him."

Catching the movement of the other out of the corner of her eyes, Avia watched and wondered if they were going to be made to feel bad about their bond. His brother did not seemed pleased at all.. had she offended him,was he jealous? She could answer those questions herself with her powers, but decided against it... they made her feel like a nosy busy body anyways and they didn't warrant use for any extreme reason at this moment. Her curious thoughts did not leave her though... she would just have to try to remember to ask Zeru later.

With a nod she walked over with Zeru and his Mela to the couch. After his Mela was settled in, she climbed up and got herself situated, wrapping her tail around herself.

Avia's attention was drawn to the others coming in because of Zeru's Mela. It made her laugh. There were so many other there now. What a big family he had! In her mind she began preparing herself to meet the others.. for she was still slightly nervous.
