This is a thread for all of the loners and rogues of the roleplayers. Have fun! ~Leo
[Moonflower padded back from the Gathering. Her head hung low and her tail made a streak in the dust. It's my fault... she thought with a sigh. Ravenstar died because of me. I shouldn't have even been there. Now with Fathom leader, I'm sure he'll make sure I'm either killed or gotten rid of. I might as well leave while I still can. She stopped at the camp entrance.] "Shiningkit, Lavenderrain, Leopardpaw, Blackflame... thank you." she mewed. [She ran into the forest. She reached the border marker easily. She crossed it and she was now in unsettled territory. This is my home now. she thought. I'll make it the best place to live.]

[Moonflower ran up to a large tree. She stripped down the moss on the north side f it and picked it up. She laid the pile of moss inbetween two large roots of the tree. She pushed it down with her paws and laid down.] "Now that I'm a rogue, I don't need the name Moonflower. From now on, I'll be known as Rain." Rain laid her muzzle gently on her blood stained paws and slept.]

[Rain lifted her head off her paws.] "Why does being a rogue have to be so boring?" she said with a sigh. [She wished with all her heart that someone would come to take her back. But then I'll have to talk to Fathom. she thought as she stood up. And he wants to kill me right now. She nearly fell down again because of her shoulder. I might as well be a SeaClan cat. she thought. Rain walked ovr to a shallow stream and plunged into it. The water only went up to her shoulders, but it was cold. She walked along the sides, hoping that some instinct would tell her how to swim. But all she felt was cold. She lifted her paws, letting herself be swept downstream. Her paws started to churn the water. I'm swimming! she thought.]

[The blood on Rain's paws began to soak into the water. She put her paws on the bottom of the stream and shivered. This is too cold. She pulled herself out of the water. I don't see why no other cats can swim. It's easy. She heard a rustling in the leaves of the tree. She flattened her ears and slowly began to pull herself up the tree. She caught the squirrel easily. She checked it thoroughly, making sure it didn't have the Madness. Rain crouched down and began to eat.]

[Dawn was coming by the time Rain finished eating. She turned around.] "Hey Blackfl-" she cut herself off. [I can't forget them, no matter how much I want to! she thought. But this is a pretty morning. I wish I didn't have to leave. But I had to. She felt as if she was being watched. She turned and flew up the tree. The only thing that gave her away were the blue eyes shining from the branches.]

[Rain peered through the branches at a holly bush. There was a cat behind it, but the predawn light did not let her see the pelt color. Mouse dung! she thought. It better not be Fathom or I'll have to run!]

Trees surrounded her. She didn't know where she was going. All she knew is that she was following Moonflower's scent. She bounded on, branches whipping her face until she came to the border. She paused and sniffed. Moonflower's scent trail led deep into the forest outskirts. She warily crossed the border. Her eyes darted around, and she jumped at every sound. She narrowed her eyes and came to a sudden halt. She heard distant splashing and smelled Moonflower!
Leopardpaw picked up the pace. She came to a huge oak tree and sniffed the moss that had been pressed down. Moonflower! She had made camp here. Leopardpaw's ears swiveled as she heard claws against bark. Her eyes shot up, and she narrowed them, trying to see what had gone up the tree. She was about to convince herself she had heard simply a squirrel, when two glittering blue eyes stared back at hers!
Instinctively, her hackles rose. Her eyes narrowed into slits, and she unsheathed her claws. She backed up as images of the Star Slayers flashed in her mind. Wait, their eyes were red, not blue . . . And why do I recognize them? Leopardpaw sheathed her claws and let out a sigh of relief. She had found Moonflower!

[Rain climbed higher into the tree, in fear of the silver eyes that stared up at her. I can't go back, I can't go back! she repeated to herself. I don't want to die! Her hind paw slipped and she would've fell down if she wasn't so determined. She looked back down at the silver eyes. Leopardpaw! Relaization hit her like a rock. But I can't go down. She might bring me back to her mentor.]

[Leopardpaw danced around happily. She had found her Clanmate!]
Her mew high with happiness, she said, "Moonflower! Come down! I want to talk to you! Why did you leave? What happened?"
[Concern clouded the kind apprentice's silver eyes. She sat down and her tail twitched restlessly. She thought about the Gathering and put two and two together.]
Very quietly, she mewed, "You're afraid of him. You're afraid of NightClan's leader. You're afraid of Fathom."
[Leopardpaw comppletely understood. Many cats feared her mentor. She happened to be one that was not, who would stand up to him, glaring in defiance. It was a pride thing. She looked back up into the tree at Moonflower, her silver eyes sad and pleading.]

[Rain started to scramle down the tree. She stood in front of Leoaprdpaw a few moments later.] "Of course I am. With him leader, I'm sure he'll either have me killed or banished so I left. And don't call me Moonflower anymore. I can't carry a Clan name any longer. My name is Rain now."

[Leopardpaw nodded slowly.]
"I see . . . But Fathom will not have you killed or banished! He is a good cat, you just have to look past his hard outer shell. He wouldn't do anything against you. What he did at the Gathering was out of mere respect for the leaders and he was enforcing the warrior code, though much too harshly!"
[Leopardpaw's eyes flashed. Not with anger, but with hard sympathy for Rain.]
"Rain . . . Rain."
[She lolled the name on her tongue. It was foreign to her. She looked up at the older warrior and blinked slowly.]
"Please come back. No one has sent me to fetch you, and if Fathom does anything, he'll have me to deal with!"
[Leopardpaw spat the words fiercely. She didn't want her friend to live outside the Clans, and her eyes danced. She wanted Rain to be Moonflower again deperately.]

[Rain stared at the apprentice.] "But the other Clans will hate us forever if I come back. You know it as well as I do." She mewed. "Have you ever wondered why you aren't a warrior yet? Or why Shiningkit's not an apprentice yet? When she came to us, I guessed she was about 2 moons old. I was right. That was 5 moons ago. Surely you too are past the date to become a warrior."

[Leopardpaw shook her head fiercely, her silver eyes blazing.]
"No! They won't hate us. Nor will NightClan. And Fathom has been really busy to train me . . . And I don't mind waiting to be a warrior! And Ravenstar- no, Fathom- will make Shiningkit an apprentice soon, I know it! Please say that you'll come back!"
[Leopardpaw's face tightened as she anxiously awaited her friend's answer. She desperately wanted- no, needed- Rain back in NightClan. After all, Blackflame didn't like her much, and there weren't many other cats to talk to besides Fathom and Lavenderrain.]

[Rain sighed and shook her head.] "I'm sorry, Leopardpaw. But I know it in my heart that once I get back, someone is definently going to blame either me or Blackflame for Ravenstar's death. I'm so sorry, Leopardpaw. I couldn't ever put that much of a burden on NightClan again." [She turned around and plunged into the stream, her paws churning the water quickly. She must think I've turned into a SeaClan cat! she thought.]

[Leopardpaw's eyes brimmed with sorrow and her claws scored a deep rut in the earth. She watched silently as her friend plunged into the stream, probably never to be seen again.
But wait! The cure! I can lead them through here! I know I can! And then Moon- no, Rain- can realize that NightClan is where she belongs!
But Leopardpaw shok her head. There was on changing Rain's mind. But she surely could try, couldn't she?]
"Good-bye, Rain. May StarClan light your path." Leopardpaw murmured quietly.
[Leopardpaw turned and followed her own scent trail back to the NightClan border. She broke into a run, a steady but uneven pace, swerving to aviod trees and such, the prey-scent making her feel sick. Why didn't Rain realize how much she missed her?]
