Infinity clambered up a tree angrily, his larger-than-average claws aiding him greatly. His not-so-longer-than-average tail, however, did little to help. It was shorter and certainly much more thicker than most tigers’, which wasn’t as helpful with balance where climbing was concerned, but his elongated fore claws made up for it.

With deft paws, he made it onto a high, thick branch capable of holding his weight in record time, and there he sat, wrapping his tail about his paws and looking disdainfully at the world below. He was, for the most part, covered in shadow and camouflaged by the leaves. The forest floor, however, was bright from the sun, and easily viewable through gaps in the tree. And there, he knew, was where his brother would eventually be and where he had hoped his brother would lose trace of him.

He had left their home out of spite and anger, and he had expected to be alone. His family was, after all, pampered, and wasn’t too keen on leaving the comforts of their home for the dangers of the wilderness, especially for one like him. But his brother had surprised him. Not by trying to bring him back, but following him so far. His brother had no business following him about, though, he thought. He was popular at home, and their family would actually miss him, not to mention his friends and his mob of overly-friendly females.

He rolled his eyes at the last thought and stretched himself along the length of the branch. He settled himself in, and prepared to wait.

Zero panted as he tried to make out where his brother had gone. He was just as lithe and fit as his brother, but that didn't mean that he had had the stamina that Infinity seemed to have. Before long he'd been tired out and his brother had obviously used that to his advantage and took the lead to disappear from Zero once more. Chasing after his brother was interesting and all, but he couldn't imagine what could lead Infinity to leave their house. One day he'd just upped and left, and Zero, being the older brother and all, had had to chase him all the way out here. Into the wilderness.

Had he not considered how their parents, and their friends would've felt after being abandoned? How Zero himself would feel? Being pampered all his life had made him rather naïve to many things. From the flirting that every female did to him which he'd dismissed as harmless fondness, to his brother leaving home. Never would he had guessed the true reasons as to why he'd leave home. Not unless Infinity himself told him.

Before long he arrived at the foot of the tree that he knew Infinity went up. It was obvious by the deep gouges that his brother had left in his haste to get up the tree. Their especially large claws made climbing up a tree without leaving marks virtually impossible which could definitely hinder them should they be chased by anything bad, but had definitely helped out in Zero's cause.

"Infinity! I know you're up there!", Zero called as he peered up the tree. If it came down to it he could go up the tree to talk to his brother.

Infinity had thought he had come to know the wild on his many secret explorations from past times, but evidently, there were still things he had to learn or, more specifically, remember. He could have slapped himself for being so stupid as to forget that claws left gouges and larger claws left larger gouges, especially on bark. It had never occurred to him before that they would be important, as he had climbed trees only when he was escaping from a predator or two he had accidentally aggravated (and he was thankful that no one had seen those ridiculous spectacles), predators who couldn’t care less whether he left marks or not, as they were unfit to climb as he was.

But the damage had been done, and it was no use regretting it. He frowned angrily and, ignoring his brother, he turned away and started climbing higher.

Zero frowned as he sat at the foot of the tree, watching his brother climbing further up it. He could get up too, but because of the fact that while he was fit, he wasn't as fit brother it'd still be rather difficult to catch up. Didn't Infinity realize that he'd eventually reach a dead end at the top of the tree? Going further up didn't prove much, except for the fact that his brother could be surprisingly stubborn-headed. But, if he wouldn't stop then Zero had no choice but to follow, did he?

Pressing his claws into the bark of the tree he began scampering up it, using some of the gouges that Infinity had left behind to his advantage. He'd be a fool to go up it with his strength alone when there were already small shortcuts he could use. It'd be better in the long run too, as he would be less inclined to get splinters this way. "Why don't you stop?", he asked as he continued up."We both know how this'll end."

Infinity gave an irritated sigh when the sounds below showed his brother was following him. He climbed higher still, intent on not seeing his brother. They were identical twins, and it disgusted him to see his face on his brother, his brother's face on himself. They were alike and they never would be, so why would life do such a thing to them, he wondered angrily, his next attempt to go up leaving a particularly deep gash in the wood.

"Let me guess," he replied, his voice sharp and cold. He knew he couldn't climb forever, and he tested his weight on a branch before going to its end. He looked down, making sure he wasn't too high up, and called back to his brother. "With you getting what you want? With things going your way?"

He gave a contemptuous scoff before leaping off, his paws held wide and his tail sticking straight out to lessen the fall. He knew his brother would notice and have an easier time of jumping, but his plan was to disappear by that point.

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. As luck would have it, he tripped on a jutting root during his escape.
