Walking away tauntingly from the purple clad Lunarian, Mayu could almost taste the victory in her favor. That is, until the girl swiped the dress back before sneakily attempting to knock her feet out from under her. Having barely a second to respond, Mayu went with the flow of the attack like she had been taught. Pitching forward, she caught herself with her hands crossed at the wrists, absorbing the force of the fall before twisting her body and springing herself into the air to land opposite her offender in a defensive pose.

What had originally started out as a good day to go shopping had slowly been turning sour since meeting this Lunarian female - a fellow student at the Academy named Van. Dressed in a purple ao dai, she had originally seemed quite pleasant, though a little guarded; they had even seemed to have a similar taste in clothes, which had been incredibly pleasing to Mayu for some odd reason. Not too long into the meeting though, they both came across a particularly amazing uchikake. It was a dream; perfectly tailored in colors that appealed to both of the girls. Mayu had clearly seen it first, but Van was being extremely rude and resistant to facts. Since their clashing over the dress, the scenario had increasingly worsened to the scene before her: a fight for dominance and the boutique’s most perfect dress. A fight Mayu was determined to win.

You really are quite rude – you know that right? I imagine your parents are that of swine to equate such horrible manners to their child. That or they’re very ashamed of you paying no heed to their lessons. I’ll be sure to let them know that you’ve been properly punished by sending you home make-up-less and bruised.

Not waiting for a response, Mayu launched herself at the girl making sure to grab the dress and throw it behind her, onto a rack, to remove it from the ensuing fight. Jumping into the air, she snapped her right leg up in a kick to connect with the girls chin. She was going to make sure Van understood just how much she disliked people who stood in her way.

Van said nothing at first. She didn’t need to—this wasn’t a lesson that should be taught with words, after all. In a fight for an item that would enhance one’s physical beauty, a physical beat-down was the way go to. And Van had been caught off guard twice. She knew that, if her father or brother saw her now, they’d be disappointed on two counts. First, that she had allowed herself to even be touched, a rare occurrence even in the training sessions at home. And second—well, she was fighting over something as ‘trivial’ as a dress, wasn’t she?

Regardless, Van had already entered the battle, which meant that she was bound to see it to the finish, whether or not she walked home with that dress. Rubbing her chin where Mayu’s foot had connected, Van mused at the repercussions of retaliating in a similar way. While she had indeed tried to trip the other girl, it was Mayu who had gotten the first hit. One glance around told her that the shopowner was nowhere in sight, likely having fled to the back for fear of getting entangled into this heated girl fight. Seeing that nothing was hindering her from entering the fist fight with her own set of martial arts skills, Van dropped into a telltale stance, indicative of the leopard fist.

Three hits in rapid succession—as expected of a leopard—were to land on her opponent. Straightening up slightly, Van was careful not to drop her guard again, instead switching into the dragon fist to prepare for counter-attack. For this Lunarian, the fight had gone beyond just a squabble in clothes boutique; Van could kill, if this went too far. Such was her nature. She was a pretty girl, sure, but her fighting ability always preceded whatever beauty she could claim.

When she finally spoke, her words were few. "Insulting an opponent and her namesake is hardly honorable," she iterated scornfully, violet eyes glaring down at the Noble. "If my parents are swine, then what are yours?"

The girl was fast. She didn’t seem to take much time in responding at all. Feeling the first punch land in her abdomen, Mayu prepared herself for the next hit to come, turning so as it would land on her side. Expecting what was to come next, she ducked and rolled out of the way of the final punch of Van’s leopard fist. She had power, she would give her that. It wasn’t incapacitating though.

Unless you’re named after one of your parents, then namesake would be a wrong term to use. But I know what you mean. And my parents taught me manners. But they also taught me to think and operate on another person’s level so you can see how they work. But enough of the chit-chat. This conversation was beginning to be pointless. And she hadn’t signed on for a talk about her familial life. She didn’t know if Van’s intentions were to find out more about her parents, but she didn’t intend to tell her about them.

Analyzing Van’s defensive posture took mere moments. Solid. Well-defended. Penetrating her stance would take thought and time; something that wasn't entirely feasible in a fight. Glancing around quickly at her surrounding it hit her. Of course! Why hadn't she thought of and remembered where she was? Taking a quick handful of clothes from the display to her left, she threw them at Van, hoping they'd cause a strong enough distraction that she'd be able to get in a good hit. Was it a sneaky and under-handed move? Yes. But fights were fights and this was the real world and not some sparring match with rules and honor attached to it. Plus, she was really pissed this girl would interfere with her shopping.

Van felt a small wave of accomplishment for each hit that made its mark on the Noble. This, she thought, this was truly the sign of her power. Although Mayu had managed to dodge the final and most critical hit of the onslaught, she at least knew now that Van was being serious when she insisted on bringing the prize—the dress—home. Angered though she was, Van still had enough wits about her to try to minimize damages to this boutique and subsequently, her reputation with the shopowner. She wanted to be able to come back for more gorgeous wardrobe additions later on, didn’t she?

Circling the boutique, the Lunarian listened as the other girl rattled off something about something entirely irrelevant to the situation at hand. There was such a thing as family names, wasn’t there? And Van highly doubted the quality of Mayu’s own upbringing if she was so hypocritical as to call perfect strangers swine, and then turn around and insist that she had manners. It disgusted Van; this was why she gritted her teeth and minimized conversation amidst battles. Further, her silence often inspired fear in her opponent. There would be one last retort, though.

“Oh, that would be great!” Van said cheerily, amused by the clear contradictions in Mayu’s words. This time, however, her voice held a distinctively false tone. “I’ve had enough of your verbal diarrhea as well.”

Carefully, quietly now, Van began to constantly change up the pattern of her footwork as she weaved around clothing racks and shelves. Initially defensive, it seemed now that she was getting ready to spring into a sprint—but before this could take place, the girl’s stance was instantly docile. To the untrained eye, it appeared nearly like a dance, fleetfooted and delicate. It wouldn’t do to have her opponent guessing her attacks. But Van had fallen victim to her own logic, and was ill-prepared for the sudden armful of clothes that threatened her next move. Grunting, she fumbled with the falling silks in an attempt to restore her balance.

Watching with satisfaction as the girls moves were subsequently fumbled by the armload of clothes she had thrown, Mayu moved in closer and closer, probing the girls perimeter while watching for any blows that may thrash out of the swell of clothes. The next move would be a tricky one. If she were to approach the purple Lunarian as she was, she herself could get caught up or tangled in that mass of garments. Or she could wait, just out of range of a kick or punch, and see what the girl would do next.

Sticking with the latter plan, Mayu moved behind Van, hoping the girl would be too distracted to notice her movements, and thus be confused when she was done with untangling herself. Every action counted in a battle, and confusion was the best ally.

Standing there, she waited, moving into a defensive stance she had coined the Turtle. Lets see what she's got. Hopefully she'll make some kind of fatal flaw, and I can turn it against her.

The Legionnaire was irritated that she had been caught off guard—and by an armful of clothing, no less. She would have preferred to think that in a conventional battle, this kind of distraction would not be possible. If she would learn anything from this falling out, it would be that any situation can turn into a fight... and because of that, anything can also be used as a weapon. It took Van long enough to disentangle herself from the precious fabrics that had been thrown at her, but when the last of the dresses had been thrown aside, she found herself eye to eye with Mayu yet again.

Van had to hand it to the other girl. Even though she herself had been trained to fight dirty (hence her poor grades in Battle Ethics), Mayu had bested her as far as unorthodox moves—for now. Van reached around behind her, never once taking her eyes off of the other girl. The first object her violet scaled hand closed around was a shoe. There was barely a moment’s hesitation as Van peered at the decorated wooden clog, before she chucked it at the Noble.

Mayu wasn’t coming forward? Van would happily close that distance, but not without returning the attack of the store merchandise first. She began to throw everything she touched that would fly at Mayu, be it a hanger, a purse, some shoes, jewelry. Some were better aimed than others, but the idea was to barrage the other with a mass of stuff, just as she had been attacked with mere garments. The point now wasn’t even to injure the other girl, just to incapacitate her for long enough to grab the coveted dress and run.

It had, in other words, turned into a cat fight.

Van made quick work with the mound of garments that had been thrown on her, and was now standing across from her as stoically as Mayu herself; it seemed Van had finally absorbed that she was someone who needed to be treated as an equal. Analyzing the twitches and movements of the girl in front of her, Mayu watched as the Lunarian made a quick decision and began resorting to a move that she herself had just used - throwing anything and everything that she could get her hands on. Mayu had to admit that her usage of the tactic was much more effective as the barrage of random items and accessories were much harder to block then she imagined the clothes had been.

Retreating as fast as she could, Mayu yelped as quietly as she could as multiple objects slapped her bare skin and sensitive facial regions. Ducking behind one of the many wooden islands placed strategically in the store to display clothes, she caught her breath. This battle was getting to be too much, for a dress of all things, and had gone on too long in her opinion. Glancing around her at her surroundings, she saw the solution to her problem.

Keeping low to the ground, Mayu dashed as fast as she could to the rolling wooden rack of clothes, using its length of hung clothes as a shield for Van’s barrage. Making sure to keep it stationed in front of her horizontally, Mayu threw her weight into rolling it towards her opponent. Hoping her judgment on the distance between them was sufficient, along with the surprise of the maneuver, she hitched her foot in front of the rolling wheel, ignoring the pain as it hit, and added a strong push to the sides, causing it to tilt and fall over. Hopefully she would bury the offending female under the mass of clothes on the rack, effectively ending the battle as she saw it.

Van tried to stifle the sense of pride rising up in her body as she watched Mayu break into a quick retreat. She may have forced the other girl back for, but the battle wasn’t over until someone walked away with that dress. The Legionnaire girl was not about to let her position on the battle slip, either, so she did her best to follow Mayu into retreat, continuing to throw whatever she could get her hands on in the direction of the Noble. At least now, since Mayu appeared mostly subdued, Van could free her mind to come up with another, more effective way of obtaining the prize.

How was she to go about this—she had to grab the garment, hold onto it, pay for it, and run out of the store. Decidedly, the most difficult part of this sequence was holding onto the dress; otherwise, this war would never have started. In all of her musings, she almost missed the wooden rack in front of her shaking. The girl stopped and smiled incredulously. What was Mayu planning on doing? At this distance, any large rolling object could easily be sidestepped.

And as the rack barreled toward her, this was what she did. What Van wasn’t planning on, though, were the hangers catching onto her hair and clothes so that she could not move. Screeching, she struggled to free herself, but even this did not prevent her from feeling an acute sense of doom when she looked up and saw nothing but rack and clothes as she was suddenly engulfed. Van wouldn’t give up here, of course, but she knew that by the time she got out of this predicament, Mayu would have had plenty of time to scoop up her object of desire and run off with it.

Success! Her ploy with the rack of clothes was something to be proud of, as her opponent laid thrashing under a mass of clothes, hangers, and an obstructive rack. This was her time to make away with her prize and feel more than satisfied at both the acquirement of the beautiful garment and her victory at its acquirement.

However, as Mayu looked around the shop, she was flabbergasted at the damage they had strewn throughout the small boutique. Clothes were ripped and torn, accessories were everywhere, and displays were broken in ways that seemed like it would cost the owner a pretty coin to repair. Suddenly she was gripped with guilt, her anger and battle hunger fading, and her victory seemed tarnished. Was one dress worth this much trouble? It was but a simple outfit, and there was sure to be another of equal beauty at other shops that she could be just as pleased with.

Looking to the moving mound of garments, Mayu’s mouth twisted up in a half smirk at the irony of the situation as she reached into the pile and searched for the brazen female.

Hey, stop flailing around! I’m trying to help you out, not keep you in. Look, I think we may both have been a little…rash. Let’s just call a truce and work on fixing this place back up some, maybe reimburse the owner for the damages. You can even have the dress. I’m not too sure I’m proud of the means of which I’d have obtained it.

Flailing was probably the best word for what Van was doing right now. It, of course, didn’t help the situation, as getting out of it was something that required careful maneuvering, something particularly opposite of the thrashing girl’s movements in her desperation to get the coveted dress. All movement stopped very suddenly, though, when the Legionnaire heard Mayu’s voice, and suddenly it became very easy to get out of the mess of fabrics and hangers. Van reached up and pushed some dresses aside, bolting upright as she craned her neck to look questioningly at the Noble girl.

Only a few moments of searching passed, before Van decided that there was no deception in Mayu’s voice, and her tense battle form relaxed a little. It was only now that the young woman looked around, realizing the destruction that lay in the wake of their petty battle. Her heart twisted painfully as she saw wrecked clothes and accessories everywhere. The fight that the girls had gotten in might have been merited, but the shop and its owner certainly didn’t deserve all of this.

It took only a nimble step for Van to stand now, embarrassedly brushing herself off and adjusting her hair as she got up. As much as she didn’t like admitting it, Mayu was right. The Legionnaire needed no further cues to begin cleaning up, righting racks and sorting clothes.

As the mess began to clear up in front of her, Van turned to Mayu and crinkled her nose slightly, an expression that indicated some sort of indecision on her part. “I guess we should have at least asked if there was another one, before we got into all of this, huh?” Some time passed before she spoke again, as if she were carefully weighing her decision. Van wasn’t one to care how she obtained things, as long as it was effective. There was something different about Mayu that Van liked, though, and therein lay the reason for this sudden offer. “And I guess you can borrow it sometimes, then, if you would like.”

Cleaning up their fighting ground seemed to take hardly any time at all once the decision was made between the girls to right the area from their destructive rampage. It was also, surprisingly, nice to see that Van had a mature side to her, a side that recognized the damage they had done and wanted to do something to rectify it.

As the layout began to resemble the shop they had first entered not too long ago, Mayu was glad to hear the girls offer and was also amused at the girls’ suggestion of garment enquiry. It would definitely have been a good idea to ask before jumping to the conclusion that the dress was only a single, sole beauty offered to the boutique’s clientele.

Giggling in admittance, Mayu broke into a genuine smile and thanked her for her offer. Ya know, I may just have to take you up on that sometime. And if you truly liked that dress’ color and design, I probably have some of my own, at home, that you may fancy as well. Shopping is more than just a guilty pleasure of mine and I never know quite what to do with everything. I’ll be sure to seek you out if the need ever becomes too great for its use, and you should do the same. I’d definitely like to talk more when we’re not throwing martial art moves at each other.

Turning to the desk where the proprietor was stationed, staring in open-mouthed shock at the ridiculously quick turn of events he had experienced in just a few short minutes, Mayu smiled and nodded to him, blushing slightly. Sorry about all this ruckus, sir. I hope we helped you out with some of our organizing. Here are some coins for anything that might not be fixable. And I hope we’ll be able to return, this really is a favorite shop of mine. Leaving a coin purse on the counter, confident that the amount was acceptable for the amount of trouble they had caused, plus the price of the acquired dress, Mayu bowed and made a hasty retreat before he could snap out of his reverie and ban them both.
