Well to start things off, I have a useful tip for you guys. Did you know that by collecting 5 shiny leaves on one pokemon gets you a star on your trainer card? Do you know what a shiny leaf is? Well here's what you need to know. A shiny leaf is a rare item that a Pokemon can find as it walks with you, however where they will find one is based on their nature. Once you collect 5 shiny leaves on one Pokemon take it to Lyra/Ethan's house is New Bark Town, where it will be turned into a Shiny Leaf Crown and you will receive a star on your trainer card thus upgraded its color.

How do you know if your Pokemon has found a shiny leaf? Well first you will see a red "!" symbol, next it will spin around a few times, then it will end with a green musical note.

The following list shows what routes you can find the shiny leaf on based on what nature your Pokemon has:

Just confirmed this with Bulbapedia, so it's good info. Really good info for those who are into breeding and IVs.

Apparently, in HeartGold and SoulSilver, the Power items help with IVs. Meaning, if you give a Power band (Sp. Def Power item) to a pokemon while breeding, the Sp. Def IVs will be transferred to the offspring pokemon.

This only works in HeartGold and SoulSilver.

arrow If the foe uses 'minimize' your pokemon's attack 'stomp' becomes more powerful.

arrow Having Pokemon with the Flame Body and another ability(I can't remember it atm) make eggs hatch faster if it's by the egg, or something like that. ^.^;

Also note, if your foe uses Dig, and you use Earthquake or Magnitude, the power of those attacks increases.

Thunder can hit foes that have flown or bounced, and I think Surf does more damage to foes that use Dive

And we can't forget weather effects!

Rain: Increases water attack power, lowers fire. Reduces Synthesis, Morning Sun, and Moonlight power to 1/4, all Thunder attacks have 100% accuracy, also enables attack to break through Protect and Detect 25% of the time. Solarbeam becomes 3 turn attack. Dry Skin ability enables pokemon to restore 1/4 HP per turn, and to absorb water attacks. Abilities Hydration, Swift Swim, and Rain Dish come into effect. Castform transforms to water type, along with Weather Ball.

Sunlight: Increases fire attack power, lowers water. Increases Synthesis, Morning Sun, Moonlight power to 100% recovery. Drops Thunder element attack accuracy to 50%, turns Solarbeam into a one turn move. Pokemon with Chlorophyll ability get speed boost. Pokemon with Dry Skin ability take damage every turn, and take double damage from fire. Flower Gift ability takes effect, as does Leaf Guard, and Solar Power. Castform becomes fire type, along with Weather Ball attack.

Hail: All non-ice type Pokemon take damage each turn. Blizzard gains 100% accuracy, and becomes able to break through Protect and Detect 25% of the time. Synthesis, Morning Sun, and Moonlight power dropped to 1/4. Abilities Ice Body, and Snow Cloak activate. Castform becomes ice type, along with Weather Ball attack.

Sandstorm: Non-rock, ground or steel types take damage. Rock pokemon gain 50% Sp. Def increase. Thunder accuracy reduced to 50%. Solarbeam's power reduced. Sand Veil ability activates. Weather Ball attack become rock type. Castform does not change type.

Fog: Reduces all attack accuracy.

The Idiots guid to shiny hunting!

as some of you may know, when pearl, Platinum, and Diamond came out, they added a tool in which is ment to be for shiny hunting (YAY) So here are my tips for catching a shiny pokemon

1. make sure you have lots of max repels, that you have the poke radar, and that you have the app (Not sure which number, but it has like pedestals with numbers and they have pokemon ontop of them. That will tell you how many you have in a row (Your streak)

2. Make sure the pokeomn you have in your party is stronger than the one your hunting. You need to be able to kill it in one blow.

3. Now we get to the hunting stuff. You'll want a large patch of grass, should take up more than half the screen. Once you do register the poke radar and get out you app. Once you start to build streaks DO NOT leave the patch of grass. saving will not save your streak.

4. go to a grass of patch that wiggled when you used the radar. Once you have the pokemon you want, kill it. then more grass patches will wiggle after your battle. Go for the same type of patch, (If it had white wiggles go to another that had white wiggles.) but make sure its far away from you and not on the edge of the grass patch. follow these rules and building a streak should be easy. repeat this.

5. stop the streak at about 40, and reset the radar till you see a super shiny patch. trust me you'll know what I mean when you see it. Then go to that patch.

well that's all the advice I have, beside make sure you have repel on at all times. or else wild pokemon will kill your streak. Hope this helps!

Upon being requested, I've written my guide to collecting Lucky Eggs and posted it in the main forum. For anyone who doesn't know, Lucky Eggs are a rare item to be held by a pokemon that increases that pokemon's earned exp. by x1.5 in Gen IV and x2 in Gen II/III respectively.

You can find it here ^.^
