Hey hey everyone! I didn't see a thread out there for this awesome PC/360/PS3 game called Dragon Age Origins (And also their new expansion, Dragon Age Origins: Awakenings). Soooo, I figured I'd open up a bit of a discussion topic on it, especially since it's my favorite game as of late...
So, have you played before? Are you interested in doing so?
If you have played, what did you start as? Whose your favorite companion? Do you have any of the expansions? What was your ending like? What was your favorite conversation?
Basically anything and everything around the game~
My first character that I actually committed to was a city elf warrior who I had originally made to goof off with while my older brother was visiting. I ended up playing her through, though. Was so obsessed with "WHAT HAPPENS NEEXXXTTTT?!" that I didn't put much thought behind my character's personality or anything. Dear goodness did she suck, but it was fun.
I've found that my most often shouted phrase of frustration is "Alistair! You idiot!" Those who often have him in your party most likely understand what I mean by that.~ He constantly loved running in strange directions in the middle of battle, or sometimes just stood there in a battle stance not doing much of anything. And the set tactics weren't to blame!
Erm... I'll stop there for now! Fans of DA, unite? sweatdrop

Yaaaay, a fellow Dragon Age fan!!! blaugh *glomp* I love this game so much, lol. I have three game files... one of which I completed, one I'm currently working on, and one I made just 'cause I was bored. xd
My first character was a female city elf rogue named Elizabetha, and she ended up in a romance with Alistair. whee I have a couple of favorite companions, and they are Alistair and Zevran. Those two get into some pretty silly conversations... lol. I have the Awakening, Stone Prisoner, and Warden's Keep expansions. On my first playthrough with my city elf character, I ended up having Alistair get Morrigan pregnant so none of the Wardens had to die to kill the Archdemon. My favorite conversation was when Zevran gave Alistair some "tips" about his romance with my character. Zevran: Might I offer you a bit of advice, my good friend Alistair? Alistair: I like my hair the way it is, thank you. Zevran: Truly? As you wish... though my advice is regarding something else completely. It has to do with your recent... exertions with your fellow Grey Warden that I overheard. Alistair: My...? Oh. Zevran: It did seem as if you just got going when all grew quiet. You are... feeling all right, yes? Perhaps you are tired? Alistair: We aren't talking about this, are we? Did I hit my head? Zevran: I have some roots from home that you may chew if you need energy. As for volume, perhaps you ought to try arching your-- Alistair: Whoa! Whoa! Awkward! Zevran: You Fereldans are so finicky. How will you ever learn how to pleasure each other unless you talk about it? Alistair: Not listening! La la la la la!...Yeah. sweatdrop As you can see, I'm a little obsessed... but that's okay. whee Haha.

Finallllyyy~ *glomps back* I have too many files. I have my first completed one, another one I'm currently playing, and a few others I goofed off with. I still have two more characters planned that I want to make~
My first playthrough was done with a female city elf too. Though I left her with the default name, Kallian. She was a dual-wielding warrior, oh so much fun. She kinda ended up with Alistair until politics got in the way. D: Oooh, but by arcane warrior/blood mage is stuck between Alistair and Zevran. I was shooting for Zev, but that stupid lovable warrior just popped in without warning. Gahhhh, and I really like Jowan. I feel so bad for him. I really wish he was more involved in the storyline.
I adore the conversations the characters have with each other~ Anything with Wynne and Oghren or Zevran is absolutely priceless. I just encountered one today where Oghren offered Wynne a taste of some ale that he brewed himself. Wynne graciously accepted and picked apart the flavor elements like she was tasting a fine wine, saying things regarding the fruitiness and a spiciness she couldn't quite put her finger on. Oghren egged her on to see if she could pinpoint what it was. She asked if it was cloves. Oghren went nuts, saying that she's the first woman who could pick that out, and that if he wasn't strapped in his armor, he'd take her around the corner "and... You know...." Wynne: "Give me some more ale...?"
I cracked up!
I just got Awakening on Sunday for my birthday, I'm so exciteddddd~~ I already had the stone prisoner, return to ostagaar, and the warden's keep. They're all great. Cailan's armor and sword is drool-worthy

xd OMG I remember that conversation between Oghren and Wynne! The first time I heard it, I cracked up, too! Oh, I found another conversation between Wynne and Zevran that his hilarious... but also incredibly creepy. A few of them, actually... I shall post them up here 'cause I have nothing better to do. whee The first three happen one after the other and all revolve around the same topic... rofl Wynne and Zevran Conversation #1 Wynne: You must know that murder is wrong, I assume. Zevran: I'm sorry... are you speaking to me? Wynne: That is why you wish to leave your Crows. A crisis of conscience. Zevran: Yes! That is exactly it. Wynne: Joke if you wish, but I have the feeling that deep down you regret the life you have lived. Zevran: It's true. I regret it all. Wynne: Must you be such a child? Are you incapable of a single, serious conversation? Zevran: I know. I am terrible and it makes me sad. May I rest my head in your bosom? I wish to cry. Wynne: You can cry well away from my bosom, I'm certain. Zevran: Did I tell you I was an orphan? I never knew my mother... Wynne: Egad. I give up.
Wynne and Zevran Conversation #2 Wynne: Have you changed your mind yet? Are you willing to speak seriously? Zevran: Of your bosom? As you wish. Wynne: (exasperated) No, I do not wish to speak of my bosom. Zevran: But it is a marvelous bosom. I have seen women half your age who have not held up so well. Perhaps it is a magical bosom? Wynne: Stop... talking about my bosom. Zevran: But I thought you wished to speak seriously? Wynne: I do. I thought, however foolishly, that you might be willing to speak of your past. Zevran: We could do that. There have been many bosoms in my past, though only few as fine as yours. Wynne: Enough. I am ending this conversation.
Wynne and Zevran Conversation #3 Zevran: You have not asked me about my conscience for some time, my darling Wynne. Wynne: That is correct. And I am not your "darling." Zevran: (sigh) So once again I am rejected, just as I am by the cruel, cruel fates. They are harsh mistresses to the elves. Wynne: Zevran, I am old enough to be your grandmother. Zevran: You say that like it's a bad thing. Wynne: And what would you do with me if you had me, hmm? This is a game you play, nothing more. Zevran: Ha, you are a cynical woman, Wynne. Cynical and powerful. It drives me mad with desire. Wynne: ...I am going to walk away now.
Wynne and Zevran Conversation #4 (last one...) Zevran: I couldn't help hearing about your... predicament. Forgive me if I am prying... Wynne: Yes, you are. Zevran: ...but what does it feel like being possessed by a spirit? Wynne: Why does this interest you so? Zevran: I simply wish to get to know those that I travel with. Is that wrong of me? Wynne: No, of course it isn't. Well... let me see. It is hard to describe. It is comforting. I... I feel safe, loved. Zevran: Comforted, loved, yes... Wynne: It is like being held close, cradled... the bond is so complete that I am unable to extricate myself, nor do I wish to. Wait... why do you have that look on your face? Zevran: Mmm, I... I am simply imagining it. Continue, please. Wynne: And there is a constant warmth, that spreads outwards from the very center of my being, infusing my body with-- Zevran: Ooh... Wynne: Andraste's grace, what are you thinking about now? No, I don't want to know. I feel dirty. Do not speak to me....That last one made me laugh the hardest, and it's also the creepiest... xd Actually, any conversation between Zev and Wynne is creepy... 'cause most of their conversations are very inappropriate, at least on Zev's end. lol
Also, Awakening is freakin' awesome. I haven't finished it yet, but what I've played of it is pretty decent. 3nodding I was sad that there were no romance options in Awakening, but the plot and new characters more than made up for it, I think.

I knew that there would be a Dragon Age topic in here somewhere! It's always nice to meet other fans. Let's see... where to begin? My first character was a female human noble rogue with dual blades. I put a lot of thought behind her character and attitude and I definitely had a lot of fun with her! She pretty much got a long with everyone. She always knew the right words to say so there was rarely any disapproval on anyone's end. Even if someone did disapprove, they got over it very, very quickly. Let's see... made Alistair the King and had her as his Queen... And in the end, she convinced Alistair to make babies with Morrigan. Happy, yes? I actually have so many files of characters that I'm unable to have any more. XD And I've finished the game on half of them. I have every bit of DLC available as well as the expansion, Awakening. I've also completed Awakening four times on different characters to date. I also happen to have the Dragon Age books. They give a little... well, a lot more insight into some of the events in both Origins and Awakening.
In Origins, my favorite NPC... I'm honestly torn. I like all of them so much! Alistair is for sure my favorite romance option as a female character. As a male character, I'm torn between Zevran and Morrigan. For dialogue in general... I freaking love Shale. I love her so much. XD
In Awakening, my favorite NPC is definitely Anders. Sigrun comes in second for that. Nathaniel wasn't half bad though. Aside from trying to kill my character. But hey, we're all obviously big on forgiving would-be assassins, as shown with Zevran.
Um... I really can't think of anything else right off the top of my head. So, what's up?
