Hello everyone! I thought I'd like to try my hand at creating a game here.

Please abide by all the rules of Gaia and this guild when you post.

It is fairly simple. We start with one word, and then the next person writes a word related to that one and so on and so forth. Look at the word before the one you're replying to, to see what the person before you meant, and see if you can take the game in a different direction with your post.

Do not simply write the first word to pop into your head. This should be different from the word association game. I suppose you could say the main purpose of this game is to play with homonyms. It can also proceed a bit like the category "Before and After" if anyone's familiar with the TV show Wheel of Fortune.

Let's see how far we can get from the original context. The game stops if we get back to the original word, or use a word twice with the same meaning(s) implied, or simply get stuck.

Here's an example of how a game might progress:

1. dog

2. canine

3. tooth

4. enamel

5. polish

6. wood

7. tree

8. bark

9. dog

Perhaps not the best example, but it comes full circle, and you get a sense of how the game functions (hopefully).

Always pick a word that is obviously related to its predecessor, not just for you or within an inside joke. You can use short phrases or two-word things if you need to and think it will work.

If there is no homonym related to the word you are replying to, just work within parts of that object. Always try to lead to a different meaning if you can.

I'm not sure if this game will actually work out, but I hope we get some fun out of it.
