After a request put in by Albus, the team's room changed considerably. It was no longer small, or cramped. Rather, it wasn't even one room anymore; three fair-sized rooms had had their walls knocked out and interior doors put in, allowing the team a much larger amount of space.

With each individual now allowed the room and resources to take some individuality to the rooms, decorations were quickly put in order. Small amounts of furniture were hauled into the main room, allowing for much easier storage of supplies between missions. A pair of masks and capes were pinned to the back wall, no doubt belonging to some great superhero duo.

A large desk sits stoically at the wall, with a small pot of ink and various types of stationary. Books placed side-by-side form a small tower at the back of the desk. A blue amulet with a counter-clockwise swirl hangs nearby, allowing it's owner easy access when needed.

Proper beds were moved into the side rooms, as well as a small lockable crib. Puer still prefers to sleep in his sand pile, though. Albus sleeps in his own room, while Tolin, Puer and their baby bulbasaur companion sleep in another. The main room is reserved for indoor pursuits and intellectual recreation, as well as greeting any guests.

A small, mechanical box sits in the main room near the door. A small, clear display screen sits on the top. ASAR (Automated Search and Retrieval) is a porygon-Z who lives inside this compact computer. As a program, he lacks the concepts of "boredom" and often stays inside of it. For this reason, the team saw it fit to make him a sort of housekeeper by asking him to organize supplies, materials and equipment, as well as greeting visitors and other business should the rest of the team be absent. Although some things end up in "strange" places because of it.

Journal of an Eevee

1 - Going on a Journey
We've decided today that we'll leave the house. As it is, our father is too ill to carry on the house and mother cannot bear the burden alone. Born to the somewhat cursed fate of twins, neither of us can carry it on as is. As we are equally deserving, we have agreed to journey in a hopes to prove ourselves; the greater of us two taking the seat as the head... Both for the betterment of ourselves and our home.

We have agreed to start our search within the guilds. The feats of rescue teams are not beyond us, even alone. But as we are now, it is much too dangerous; we cannot lose an heir. This sentiment was not only for one another, but our family who we leave behind.

Only a few rules have been established. Neither of us will use our influence to escape the boundaries of a "normal" person. The accomplishments of the individual will come into question before those of the team; we may not simply join an extremely powerful group, though of course we both desire a strong team to aid us. We will not interfere with one another.

I start this journal today for many reasons. I hope to first and foremost chronicle my advents for the decision that lies ahead for my brother and I.

I also hope that, in time, I will look back on these and evaluate my past failures and successes. To see the things I was so elated for, and the things I dreaded.

Hopefully, it will serve as a record for all that I stood for.

--Albus

2 - In Town
I've just arrived in town. I hope for now to find a comfortable bed to sleep in and warm food to eat. I've brought a pouch of money that is by no means large, but I have been assured it would be sufficient fare for what's ahead of me.

I heard of a hotel on the other side of town that sounds serviceable enough, I hope to find room there.

--Albus

3 - To the Guild
The funds I brought were indeed more that sufficient. It was to the point that I regretted bringing so much; the clerk at the hotel had difficulty giving me change. Not that I imagine he would have regardless, as he was rather poorly trained. He fumbled about far too long as he attempted to discern the proper amount.

I will start with the Guild today, starting from scratch. Although much greater accomplishments would reach my name through an already stable team, it would certainly be impressive if I reached them through my own effort.

It is with this thought in mind that I will find a partner and take a mission immediately.

--Albus

4 - It was a really bad idea
Attempting to form a new team through the guild was a catastrophic failure. Somehow out of all of the apt looking pokemon, I managed to get paired up with a useless little misfit of a Snorunt of all things.

She had an awful stutter and never spoke up. It was so difficult to just get her to talk, I ended up never even learning her name.

We ended up taking a relatively minor mission at her request. We had to find a locket that that some old Jynx or something had dropped.

My "partner" was too nervous, so I had to lead the entire way. I ended up having to both fight anyone we encountered on my own and find the locket without what little help she offered.

I figured she could at least hold onto it, but she dropped it into a hole something had dug into the ground when we were attacked.

We couldn't manage to fish it out, so I dragged her back to town. As soon as we were in sight of the gates, I left her. She can apologize to the client herself. I didn't make a single mistake.

I'll have to try to join a team. I'll start looking for one after I've gotten some sleep.

5 - The Ball
The regional ball recently came to my attention. Although I knew of it, I had not realized it was so close or so soon. It takes place on the day of tomorrow... As an open invitation to all teams, there will no doubt be strong and prolific groups that I may attempt to join.

--Albus

6 - [No title]
I scrawl this into my journal in haste, with the intent to elaborate further at a later time in a later entry.

The ball came under attack, but to my good fortune I was saved by a Scyther. I eventually determined that he was Tolin of all people.

As it is now, we are to take a mission. I hope to prove myself and join the team. Having an experienced and influential man like Tolin would be advantageous.

--Albus

7 - Success!
I have managed to join the team of the Southern Cross! I'm quite happy about this. Tolin is no doubt still a fearsome fighter and will be a huge ally. However, I fear I broach the subject too early. First, I will further explain my last entry.

At the regional ball a large group of Gallade attacked. From their proclamations, the pissants seemed to see themselves fit to rule the entire kingdom. Although they were no more than rats, they ganged up on me and eventually struck me down. Tolin saved me and took me to his room. Although he was at first adverse to the idea, I managed to persuade him with the help of his companion, Puer. It was through a bargain; I would complete a mission under his supervision. Should I impress him, I would be allowed to.

Needless to say, I succeeded through my own efforts. Tolin had been quite insistent on my terms; I had to fight off anything and everything that came my way, culminating in a battle against a psychotic Feraligatr.

I will continue with Southern Cross. I have no doubt that through my own efforts and the efforts of my team will lead me to greatness.

--Albus

8 - Algendar's Affair
I realize it has been some time since I wrote in this journal. Nothing of personal significance has happened as of late, but it is important to keep entries for the sake of historical context.

Over the past while, naught of significance has happened for me personally. The only real mission we've taken on has been the capture of a Robotic Dunsparce that was meant to police the area. Instead, it had been stealing valuables to "protect" them. We apprehended it by breaking it. The source of the issue was a glitched program that had come in contact with it. We stopped the dunsparce by having the two programs contact each other once more, causing a critical error.

However, back to Algendar's. It was a disease that was affecting pokemon through bites and scratches. The disease essentially made the pokemon rabid and violent, with the only goal and thought of infecting others. We managed to reign in the disease by eliminating the source, which instantly cured all the afflicted.

I originally thought to end my journal here, but in hindsight I see that my entries have been dreadfully lax. Giving context on my team members may be the best. As of the time of writing, we are only a three person team. Myself, Tolin and a Rhyhorn named Puer. Tolin himself is as I had imagined him to be. Although I've yet to see him fight for real, the slight glances of his prowess I've had have proven to be quite formidable. He's cunning and intelligent, having a good mind for both tactics and courtesy. I find him to be somewhat arrogant to me at times, but he's an agreeable person.

Puer, on the other hand is... Frustrating at times. He came from a backwoods clan of Rhyhorn. I'm not sure why he came to the city to begin with, but he's never shown any particular interest in just about anything. He's often rude and somewhat of an uncouth fellow. Although he is strong enough in a fight, I feel most of that lies on his origin as a Rhyhorn. They're simply so heavy that it's difficult for them to be anything but strong. He doesn't seem very skillful, and as his birth suggests he's not terribly intelligent.

Regardless, it seems to be a good team. Puer has taken somewhat of a submissive role, happily taking orders from Tolin. Combined with my prowess and his, we're definitely a strong enough team.

The night of Chapter 10, after the ball

Puer and Tolin sat quietly within their room. It was a sparse, simple room that had been allotted to them by the Guild, with only the simplest of furniture put in. A lone "bed" made of straw sat in one corner adjacent to the door, with a small pile of sand spread about in the adjacent corner. A lone eevee, bruised and battered lay sound asleep on the bed.

Neither of the pair spoke a word. Tolin, bereft of his bed, lay slanted against the wall. Puer was comfortable on his slight layer of sand, which conformed to his body quite easily.

For what seemed to be hours this silence passed. For Tolin, this was comfortable and quiet; a much needed rest. For Puer, however, it was much more anxiety ridden. Still confused by the aftermath of the ball, he was rapidly reevaluating his view on the society that seemed so roughly hewn around him.

Fighting, combat, even murder... None were very new concepts to the Rhyhorn. Having fought all his life for enjoyment, sport and pride, he was well acquainted with it.

However, what had happened at the ball was something different. That was not fighting, but it could not be called a simple murder, either. It was an extermination... An attempt to rend the lives from an entire society. For someone who had lead such a simplistic life, it was a difficult thing to face. All he had known in his days was a sort of mean-spirited dislike... Nothing that had come near the level of malevolence that the Gallades had so freely and happily exhibited.

Standing still for the entire ball, he tried his best to look scary, to avoid fighting. His family and friends would laugh at him, if they had seen him acting like a "coward" as he was. Doing nothing but protecting a stray, whiney child as his friends and comrades fought to the death.

And to the death it often was. In horror, he watched as countless citizens were struck down. As some, too weak to fight, ran into the fire desperately hoping to escape. He watched, too, in horror as countless enemies fell. Although only brief glimpses were to be had, the experience had left him terrified. He was afraid, not just of the evils now so apparent in the world, but afraid of Tolin. Only slight flashes could be seen through the crowd, but when he came back bearing the Eevee it was clear what had happened.

Both blades had been soaked with the blood of enemies. Not merely the tips and edges as one would see if he was slashing. Covered from edge to edge, such could only happen if he stabbed. Repeatedly, often, quickly, mercilessly, horribly... Against the Gallades of such a thin frame, there was no doubt that at least one saw that deadly, razor scythe piercing from his back, into his chest.

Puer opened his mouth for a moment, wondering what to say, before he clamped it shut.

"Are..." He trailed off for a moment, unsure of how to continue. One of Tolin's eyes flitted open, looking at his companion.

Compelled to continue by the gaze, he did. "Are there many pokemon like that?"

"Some. Usually, the groups are quite small. A few people out there prefer to stomp out those above them, rather than push ahead of them."

"I see... That's... good, then."

The silence quickly resumed, if only to be broken moments later.

A slow, dull knocking came from the door.

Getting up and shaking the small amounts of sand loose from his joints, Puer pushed down on a rather handy switch located by the door. It had been especially designed for very small pokemon, or those that lacked the capability to open/close doors normally.

A rather large, bulky looking Pelliper was on the other side of the door. Looking tired, he was leaning against a box far too large for him to carry.

"Does a uh... Tolin? Live at this residence?"

"Yeah, he's just in here."

No doubt roused by the visitor, Tolin stirred slightly. "Come in, if you're going to."

"Of course, of course. I have a package here for you. Hey, big buddy, would you mind helping me push this in?"

Shoving the crate inside, the Pelipper extracted a sheet and sealed pouch of ink from his beak.

"Please sign."

Tolin dipped into the ink with the tip of his scythe, and began eloquoently writing out his name.

"Wow, what a dump you guys are in."

They chose to ignore that comment. "There, all done."

"Alright, it's all yours then."

The Pelipper made his way out of the room, tapping on the switch as he left.

Tolin went back to the wall, slanting himself against it, muttering "I'll open it later."

"Shouldn't we open it now?"

"Go ahead if you want to, just be careful with the contents."

"Of course!" Examining the crate carefully, Puer stuck the edge with his horn. Punching a hole near the corner of the crate, he used it to get a hold with his teeth. Ripping the corner off, then doing the same to the other, the crate fell to pieces quickly.

Puer's mind came to a standstill, trying to make sense of what was in front of him.

"T...Tolin, come take a look at this."

"Why? What is it.

"It's an egg."

This immediately roused Tolin from his relaxation, bringing his attention to the box quickly.

The egg was of a sharp, green colour, packed in with a soft downy material made to protect it.

A small letter floated out of the remains of the crate. Very formal, red lettering was apparent on the side with golden trim on the edges. Tolin immediately snatched up the letter, cutting the envelope to shreds as if in a fervor and pinning it against the wall to read it.

Much too high for the Rhyhorn to actually read, Puer could only wait for Tolin to tell him what was written.

Much to the shock of Puer, the letter garnered a single tear from his partner.

Tolin immediately destroyed the letter, shredding it beyond recognition.

Walking over to the egg, Tolin stuck his scythe in, forcibly creating a small hole in the side.

"Wha-- What are you doing!? You'll kill it!"

Much to Puer's surprise, however, a single red eye peered visibly through the hole, looking outwards from the egg. Shortly after, two vines slid out from the hole, pushing the egg apart.

"Bulba~saur!"

It immediately launched itself out of it's now opened egg, latching onto Tolin by wrapping his vines around him.

"Hello there, little friend."

His balance tipping precariously, Tolin slowly lifted himself from the ground.

Seemingly content with his new resting place, the bulbasaur easily fell asleep, still clinging to Tolin.

Slowly wresting the small creature from him, he placed it to rest near the still unconscious eevee.

"We'll deal with this in the morning. Let's rest for now, we both need it."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Awaking with a start, the Eevee carefully kept his eyes closed. A horrible headache worked it's way into his awareness, a blunt, jarring pain; probably from getting struck down.

It seemed as if he had been rescued by an elderly Scyther. There were only a few in the entirety of the kingdom, as they rarely left their clans.

Those that did often left after their stay, finding the power structure of a monarchy to be obstructive. The limitations placed on normal society were extreme to them.

The teams were often the sole refuge, but the limitation on taking missions often left them bereft of the ability to deal with their instinctual urges.

And such it was that only few stayed, all of them becoming significant in their own right. A proud, noble and above all else powerful species, they often made a name for themselves in rescue teams. Always honouring the tenants of the guild and being upright with their clients, they attained a reputation as straightforward and trustworthy individuals, if often somewhat curt.

Tolin had been one of those. He was a strong and noble man who abhored evil and underhanded tactics. His reputation had been exceptional, to the point that he had known Jupiter and his family. Although they had not been close friends, there had been a bond as fellow creatures that had a strong sense of realism.

He eventually retired, often citing injury as a reason... The end of one of his scythe's had been broken off. Rumours were abound in closed circles, however, that there was a different reason.

Listening carefully to the things around him, he heard nothing but deep, quiet breathing. Opening his eyes slowly, he looked around. A bulbasaur was sleeping beside him. A rhyhorn was sleeping directly across from him in a pile of sand, and a Scyther was resting in the corner opposite his.

Hopping ever so lightly off of the straw bed he laid on, he stepped lightly towards the scyther. Examining both scythes in turn, one was broken at the end. It was probably him... He'd have to ask.

He grunted as a pulse of blood brought his headache back to life in force, a wedge of pain shooting through the back of his head.

Tomorrow, then, perhaps. Maybe once he was able to think more clearly.

For now, he would sleep.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tolin was the first one to awaken from his slumber. His back stiff, he got up and stretched out. "We'll definitely need a new bed, soon."

Everyone else was still asleep. All three seemed contentedly slumbering, resting comfortably. Popping out of the room for a quick meal, he returned to the quietly

stirring eevee.

"How are you?" He spoke in a quiet voice, trying not to awaken the newborn creature if at all possible.

"I'm... fine. I still have a bit of a headache, but I'm fine."

"That's good, then. It didn't seem like you were injured so seriously, so I felt a hospital an unnecessary affair."

"No, I'm fine, thank you. More importantly, you are...?"

"Tolin. I am Tolin. And who are you, if I may?"

"I am Albus, son of Pluto." Aaah, that explained it. He'd been wondering how the curious little eevee had known of his history.

"Well, that explains much. Visiting your cousin, I assume?"

"No, I came here to join a strong team. I hope to... redeem, for lack of a better term, my name. I would, if possible, like to join yours. This may be our first meeting, but I have known of you for quite some time. A long time ago I looked into the relationships of my family, reading on significant people and figures. Although only briefly, you had a strong mention. I looked into your history, reading about your allies and your accompl..." His voice trailed off as a look of frustration marred the otherwise stoic features of the Scyther.

"No. Form your own team."

It shocked the eevee. To be so flatly rejected was not something he had expected.

"B...but you know who I am! You know who my fami--"

"Yes, I know what you are. I refuse to take on someone I have no reason to trust. You've lived a sheltered life and you would be a horrible liability."

"Then what can I do? I want to join your team. It's the only way I can beat my brother."

"Prove yourself to me on your own accord. I won't tell you some magical solution to earn my trust."

"Give him a break. He's trying to prove himself, he's not asking for something obscene." Puer roused himself from his slumber, shaking the sand loose from his joints.

"Fine, then. You choose something, we'll do it. If I like you, you can stay."

"Alright, I have an idea. Meet me at the Bulletin Board in an hour."

"Fine."

Tolin grabbed the small bulbasaur, picking him up. Seemingly undisturbed by this fact, he simply wrapped his vines around Tolin, dosing contentedly.

"We'll drop this one off at a daycare. I'll watch over you, but I won't watch over both of you."

"Alright."

Puer headed towards the door, holding down the button. Albus left first, with Tolin and Puer heading in a seperate direction.

"Lily, leave it."
"No Young Master Eclipse. Young Master Albus needs to know-"
"I said leave it."
"You might not want to confront your brother about this Atra, but I will."
"...fine, but I'm not going."

A small shiny Cyndaquil stopped in front of Team Southern Cross's room. Adjusting her crystal-laced headband, she held up a small fist and knocked on the door, waiting patiently for someone to answer. If she does not find Albus here, the Move Tutor was her next choice.

Trev groaned as he slowly began to awaken from his dream. He stared up at his ceiling for a while, relaxing on the bed and enjoying the peace and quiet before Klash awoke.
Wait a minute, this isn't my team room
Every movement seemed to exhaust Trev as if he gained a few hundred years during his sleep. He pushed himself out of the bed that wasn't his with a groan and looked around the room.
Wait...how did I push myself up?
He looked down and immediately yelled the following sentence:
"WHAT THE F*%k"
He jumped out of the bed and tried to find a mirror, where the hell was he? What the hell was going on? What the hell was he?
Why the hell was he so old?
Trev stopped for a moment and surveyed the body some more. He immediately saw the blade for hands and backed up a little bit and fell down from the lack of balance on two legs.
"Gonna want to remember those..." he said aloud and put the arms to his sides. Suddenly he realized that his voice was no different, just the body. First it was time travel, then some random Dark-Types attack the guild...
And now he got switched into the body of a old man
Fun times.

Puer stirred slightly when Tolin started shouting and banging around against the floor. He stood up out of his pile of sand and looked at the Scyther with concern as he waddled around the room awkwardly and spoke in a rather unusual voice. "You alright Tolin?

Trev was still grasping the fact that he was in an old man's body. How did this guy even live? The body was fighting every movement every step of the way, as if it wanted him to die. It was awful! Sure he felt way stronger then before, but he would of preferred to stay younger. Still, he was taking the whole situation with a strange sense of calm (after freaking out of course). He sighed and carefully began to get back to his feet; the blades for hands being really unnerving. Trev turned to the new arrival while sticking a blade into the wall for balance.
"I don't know who the hell Tolin is, but he is old,"

Puer stared blankly at his friend. Did he have amnesia? Was he actually so old that, possibly, he'd become senile? Puer shook his head to rid himself of the thoughts. Tolin never acted that old and it would be ridiculous for him to go senile. He was sharp as a knife, in more ways than one. "You, you're Tolin. Remember? You're a Scyther?"

Why was Tolin acting so weirdly?

"No, I'm Trev and I'm a Cyndaquil,"
Trev couldn't even understand how this old man was alive let alone combat-ready. Still, he gave the Rhyhorn a look and wondered if he thought he was crazy. Trev's voice certainly was a bit different, being a bit lazy and monotonic in nature even if a whole bunch of weird crap was being sent his way.
"Something happened...I think I switched bodies with this old guy,"

...Maybe Tolin had gone senile. Well, just for now, let's assume he's telling the truth and isn't just insane. After all, if he's gone bonkers it'll be easier to get him to the hospital if he plays along. "Er... Then, Trev. Do you know how you got into Tolin's body?" And for that matter, where was Tolin?

"I have no idea, I just remember falling asleep and waking up here,"
Trev gave an awkward shrug that almost threw him off balance again. This body certainly was working against him wasn't it? He tried to think for a moment and figure out where this "Tolin" would be. They did switch bodies, and Trev had fallen asleep in his team room...
"He's probably in my team room,"
Trev tried to walk over to the door only to nearly fall over on to the ground Pokemon. Fortunately, he stuck a blade into the ground at the last minute and caught himself. There was no way he would be able to reach his team room at this rate.
"Can you take me there?"

Trev nodded and attempted to climb on to the ground-type's shell. This wasn't an easy task, since he still wasn't used to the body. Trev actually fell a few times before actually climbing on to the Pokemon's back.

Laura & Tolin

It was late night now. Laura had heard an almost superfluous amount of stories and suggestions, most of which turned out useless. This, now, was all she had to go on; the elderly Scyther headed back into the team room. A strange Croagunk had mentioned a Flareon that looked a lot like the one she described. He was a tad... creepy though. His questions and tone were disturbingly invasive and he started laughing the creepiest laugh you ever heard after talking to her for a bit. But, as weird as he was, he certainly seemed confident.

Laura's eyes snapped back to the door when it shut behind the Scyther with a click. She scampered up to the door and pressed her ear hard against it. Another door opened inside and then shut with a click. There wasn't a sound coming from inside, so it was probably vacant. I can't just barge in and meet him that way, but there wouldn't be any harm in looking around the team room...

She pressed her paws lightly against the door. It opened silently. Yes!" She peered in through the doorway. It was dark, but it looked empty. She was in luck~

Or that's what she thought until the door suddenly swung open, the lights flicked on and her butt cartwheeled over her head against her will. "Hello there!" s**t. Think fast Lori, you need an excuse... Tolin had a wide grin on his face. "So, then, why were you following me?" %^&#. Laura turned herself back onto her feet, her ego trying to maintain what was left of her shattered dignity. "I wasn't following you..." Tolin laughed. "Oh no, it was rather obvious. You were fairly good but you're still too young to get the jump on someone who spent over four decades in the wild." ^$%&##$^ Laura's face was stricken with panic. She briefly considered running away, but a quick glance showed her the door had closed itself--how? when?--sometime during the conversation.

Tolin chuckled on the inside. Whatever reason she was here, it wasn't malicious. A thief or assassin would be better steeled against getting caught than she is. "Well then Ms. Home Invader, why don't you introduce yourself?" Alright, what can I do, what can I do, what can I do... "I come from a royal family up north. They have a vested concern in the status of the Guild of the Sun and sent me to address some concerns. My parents are worried about the stability of the guild, especially such a powerful one." That should do it. "Then why come here? Why not go speak directly with Solaris or Pluto?" ^%$& "So, you're from Rebirth then? The other guilds are too distant for a royal to have walked from." Is he buying it?" Laura carefully cleared her voice with a faked cough. "Yes, I hail from the Guild of Rebirth." Tolin put on a show of deep thought. "That's strange. I know the current leader personally and I helped kill the last leader. I don't recall any Eevee's among the lineage."

######################## Why does this guy know the leader of Rebirth? I knew he'd been here previously, but wasn't he a part of the Moon guild? "We're not a major family but we play a pivotal role in helping to organize and guide the lower level teams." "Ah, I see. If that's the case it would explain why I haven't heard of your family. I'm not familiar with the entirety of the guild hierarchy. But in that case, why come here?" I can work this. I just have to step carefully. "I thought if I came and spoke with Albus I might be able to seek a cooperative audience with Pluto."

"It's a shame he won't be able to speak with you." What!? Laura tried her very hardest to keep the significant edge out of her voice. "And why may that be?" Tolin let on a wry chuckle. "He's rather antisocial you see. He rarely speaks with anyone outside of the team. If your title carried more weight he'd happily meet with you for political reasons, but I doubt he'd be interested in meeting someone from a minor noble family...Of course, he'd speak with you if I asked him to. Would you like me to fetch him?" "No!" Tolin gave a quizzical stare. "Er, that is... Pardon me. I'll speak with him on my own."

"You likely won't get the chance unless you joined the team, of course." Laura stared at him carefully. Was... Was he baiting her? Was this some kind of elaborate ruse? "If only I could join then. It would be a shame not to speak with him.." Tolin tilted his head to the side slightly. "We'd be glad to take you if you weren't an Eevee. Albus would be terribly angry if I let one join the team. You'd need a team badge and a stone." He cracked a bit of a sly smile. "Of course, we have the funds, should any of our team members want to evolve."

He's... leading me on right? He has to be. "Then, could I join your team?" Tolin laughed. "Of course not. Like I said, we're not accepting Eevee's. Of course, if you wanted to borrow some funds and an explorer's badge, you could work off the debt after evolving." Laura nodded. "Of course. Thank you."
