Does being pagan affect your veiw of different sexualities? What do you think? How do you feel about what most religions say about gays/lesbians?

Well I can't say that my religious view affects my personal view. But then I'm not against gays, lesbians or bis. It is just not for me.
I think that every religion, in a way, is against it but it's hard to control something that I believe is not a choice and really doesn't hurt anybody.

i have to agree and disagree. for me my faith doesnt affect my views at all.my friend put it this way, "Love is love and doesnt see any gender at all." i dont like gay men hitting on me but there are also some women who i wouldnt want hitting on me either(sorry if thats a bit inapropriate).
as for paganism in general, it tends to accept gays/lesbians more because of the idea that you should accept everyone no matter what path their on. your path isnt just your faith but also your lifestyle.

The part about faith and lifestyle isn't always true and it doesn't cover anything. The reason I say that every religion is in a way against it is because many paths in paganism focus on balance. Light and dark, yin and yang, men and women. Men and women are together in order to reproduce and keep the world going. It's apart of nature.

Paganism doesn't really affect my view that much on gays/lesbians/bis. I've always believed in love, even before i believed in paganism. Love comes in all shapes and forms, and is natural in all of its forms. Who am i to say that the love between a woman and a woman or a man and a man is unnatural, if it feels natural to them? I believe in the pagan notion of balance and acknowledge the polarity of the universe. But there are gays. And there are lesbians. They exist. There are people who are naturally gay and naturally lesbian, who are just born that way. And as far as i'm concerned, they are as nature intended them to be. If being gay and lesbian was unnatural, there wouldn't be people being born with that tendency.
One of the main facets of paganism is self-determination. Choosing the path that is right for you and feels natural for you. Just like how pagans are people who chose a spiritual path alternative to christianity and mainstream religions, gays and lesbians are people who chose a love path alternative to heterosexuality.

I only ask because I have seen many debates over it and am told over and over that pagans are very accepting of homosexuality. I am bisexual myself. And when I became pagan I was pleasently surprised that most would accept me unlike my christian side of the family that always gave me the sideways death stares.

the fact though is that even in the homosexual community you have balance because there are gay mena nd lesbian women. if we really wanna argue the reproduction thing then the reason homosexuality has become more common is the large number of children being taken out of abusive heterosexual homes and being put into orphanages or foster care. yes homo-couples(not meant to be offensive just trying to shorten it) cant reproduce but they do serve a function in maintaining balance by taking in orphans and other children who otherwise would either have abusive parents or bad childhoods due to the foster system. nature is self correcting.

Not sure on my part. At first I was most geared towards the, "Straight, not Narrow" status, but now I'm kind of wondering.

As far as others go, I'm sure it's based on individual basis just like everything else in the world.

I may be new to the pagan world, but I am bisexual, and I found that my beliefs do not affect my views on being lesbian/gay/bisexual. I realize that sounds silly, as I am bisexual, but there are some who have different views even if they are. I believe in love no matter what, and I find that my pagan friends accepted it just as quickly as my other friends, though maybe a tad quicker. 3nodding

I should of figured you immediately chime in on this topic. wink Anyway, yeah, I much agree. I mean, they do seem a bit more accepting but this a generalization and an opinion not a bold faced fact. Maybe its the religion or maybe it is just the times that make people more accepting but either way in my experiance many pagans see homosexuality as something that is not bad. They see love is love. Still again, a generalization.

There are gay/lesbian occurances in the natural world. Go to YouTube and search for "The Bible Told Me So." Amazing video. heart

I just think people who look down on others who are transgendered, homosexual, bisexual, tranvestite and so on and so on within reason of course. Are stupid ignorant individuals I don't like talking to. And won't. biggrin

Well, I've never really though about it. Even when my beliefs were a little more Christan I never hada problem with other sexualities. I, personally, am straight, but my Uncle Rob and
'Aunt' Jack are gay, my best friend from childhood is gay, and my older sister is obsessed with yaoi manga. It's just always been a part of my life, so I don't get why people freak out about it.

Well I don't know much about any pagan doctrines. But I do know that Christianity has laws against gay relationships. It also says that if an unmarried woman who had sex should be stoned, but they seemed to have forgotten about that one.
