Blackthorn City is a city situated in the mountains. It is known for its strong Dragon trainers and the Dragon's Den. Kanto's Elite Four member Lance is from Blackthorn City and is cousin to the Gym Leader there.

Lance leapt off of his Dragonite's back as it landed in front of gym in Blackthorn city. He looked around to see that not much had change since he had left.

Claire stood in the Dragon's Den, her Dragonair by her side. She normally stayed in her gym, but, on occasion, she took her dragons to the cave to train.

Lance walked into the gym and didn't see his cousin there. "Hmm..." he said, "She must be in the Den." He then strode out with a flourish of his cape and then returned his Dragonite to his Pokeball then released his Gyarados out in the water near the gym.

Lance grabbed onto a scale near Gyarados's head and hoisted himself up as it began to swim across the water towards the Dragon's Den.

Clair sighs, gently patting her Dragonair's head. "I don't get it.. How can I not pass the Master's test..?" she asks quietly.

The entrance to the Dragon's Den soon came in view to Lance. He saw his cousin, Clair, standing outside. He attempted to wave to get her attention.

Clair stared off at the walls of the cavern, too deep in thought to notice Lance waving. Her Dragonair, however, notices him, and cries out happily, moving over to him to greet him.

Lance's Gyarados approached the part of land that Clair stood on. Lance jumped off of his Gyarados's back and landed firmly on the ground, his cape flourishing behind him.

Clair's Dragonair cries happily, rubbing against Lance. Clair blinks, coming out of her daze, and turns to Lance. "Lance..."

Lance patted the Dragonair on the head before looking at Clair. "Good to see you too," he said with a warm smile.
