It turns out my favourite online game, Cabal, is going down, for good! I've spent years on my 3 characters, and they're just going to throw it away.
They've announced that the servers will officially be shutting down on March 31st... The suspicious thing about this is, is that it's a day before April Fools day. Hopefully, it's just a cruel joke on the players.
They've really committed to the joke, (If it is one) the cash shop is shut down (Where you pay real money for special items, the only way they get a source of income from the game) Thus, they have no revenue for their game.
The forum is buzzing, and another suspicious thing is, is that normally support Game Monitors are usualy swarming these posts and confirming the notion that the servers will go down. However, they're dead silent... OGPlanet is normally amazing with customer support and being active on their forums, helping players out.
The game economy is in shambles, people are dropping rare items everywhere, selling certain items for radical prices, and massive Player Killing is occuring on all channels. It's total anarchy...
So if it isn't a joke, the game is very popular, and most likely will be picked up by another company that is offering more than OGPlanet. This happened to another OGPlanet game, Albatross18, where they were picked up by another company after OGPlanet's contract expired. The game company (ESTSoft) is fairly reputable and I wouldn't believe that this is the end.
However another question arises, if they were to change companies, would our characters be saved or transferred or would we have to start from the very beginning? Hopefully not.
I've been digging around a bit, and it turns out that World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, and Maple Story had similar April Fools jokes, and they all said the servers would shut down on April 31st. Now Cabal isn't as successful as them, but damnit they have been successful!
That's the state right now... I'm kinda sad... Cabal was the only game that I could really play online and feel as if I fit in. RuneScape's community is too young and MapleStory's community is too immature. I really love Cabal and I hope to God that this is a April Fools joke... Cabal's community is so mature and hardcore... like me.
Anyway I'll stay off of it for awhile... do some other things...
