Gaia has been a big part of my life for the past five years. A great part of my life. And of course, ever since its inception, nothing on Gaia has been more important to me than the GiB. Way back in 2006, I put on a suit, started a thread, and asked three simple questions:
Quote:
Are you prepared to lay your life on the line to defend Planet Gaia?
To fight against an alien threat?
To shell out the money for this dull uniform?
To fight against an alien threat?
To shell out the money for this dull uniform?
At the time, I thought I would have some fun, role-play a bit, and then the thread would quietly die, swallowed up by the forums, abandoned by everyone in favor of newer, more interesting topics. Needless to say... I was wrong.
Running the GiB has been a wonderful experience for me. Thanks to this guild, I've gotten to talk to NPCs, make great friends, and even grow as a person. Prior to starting the GiB, I had never been in any sort of leadership position. Being captain of this guild gave me a real boost in confidence and people skills that I continue to benefit from to this day.
However, all good things must come to an end. As you may have noticed, I have not been terribly active on Gaia lately. One reason for this has been my agonizingly slow dial-up connection. But it hasn't been the only reason. Gaia has treated me well throughout the years, but frankly... I just feel it's time to move on. For years, Gaia has been my main hobby, and has gotten the lion's share of my free time. But now I feel it's time to step back from my favorite virtual world, and see where life takes me. I'm haven't "quit," exactly. I still log in from time to time, but Gaia is no longer part of my daily routine.
Well, that's fine and good for me, but a captain that's never around is hardly a captain at all. The GiB deserves an active leader, especially now that an exciting new plot is starting up. That's why I've been conversing with the crew for some time now about finding a replacement. After much deliberation, we have come to a decision. Without further ado, I hereby appoint Burning Crimson and Magnesium Dioxide as this guild's new captain and vice captain, respectively. I am confident that they and the rest of the crew will do a great job leading this guild into the future.
Well, that about covers it. Thank you all for three awesome years.
See you around. cool
