Eh, half credit. I used to attend an Assembly of God church, but I was never actually a member. And that was many years ago. The few times I've dropped by that church since then, well ... it feels like Pentecost came and left, to be honest.

Sadness I'm sorry to hear a church lost its fire! Our church is off the chain. I love it b/c they are very accepting people who don't care about my tattoos and piercings. And I love how we all sing and dance and just get really excited about God!

I was Assemblies of God (A/G), though right now I don't claim to be. I prefer attending Bible studies.

Nope; Methodist here. But I've heard some strange things about Pentecostals' beliefs... What exactly do you believe that sets you apart from other denominations?

That's kind a loaded question, Epik. The technical phrase is "Baptism in the Holy Spirit", the number one indication is "speaking in tongues", and the derogatory slang is "holy roller". Aside from these things, they're not that different from us (I, too, am Methodist). Same Jesus, same sacrifice, same Trinity, same forgiveness, etc.
Best, I think, if the ladies handle this one, but that's it in a micro-nutshell.

I'm pentecostal!! Yeah, my church is really awesome too; Awesomest thing ever is this non denominational service thing we do on Sudan nights, all sorts of people from around the city come and it's pretty much a young people's service...it's great! I think differences are we do a lot of yes, you're right, speaking in tounges (I can't. It's just not something God's given me yet, but I've come to realize this year that all of the things I asked for and he held back from me, there's a reason and he'll reveal that in time!)! Hand raising, I don't know if all u do that! Like, that form of worship, I can't imagine not raising my hands to God, but I suppose we all have different forms of worship! Just yeah, crazy stuff!! It's really awesome! smile

Cool. I'm not into hand raising, though some people I've seen are pretty big on that. I'm kinda the guy who worships God by honing my musical skills. I'm almost constantly learning a new piano piece.
And I've never heard of anyone speaking in toungues... I don't have any Pentecostal friends...

Charismatic/Pentecostal here.
Cant imagine going to a church again where I can't raise my hands or dance before the Lord. After all David did smile
And yes I do operate in the gifts of the Spirit.

-Epikku_no_Katsu- Charismatic? Isn't that when other people are attracted to you...? DX I'm confused here sweatdrop LOL I see charismatic/pentacostal as more of a NT church. We operate in the gifts of the spirit, worship in the Spirit raising Holy hands before the Lord, and dance before God. All of which are outlined in the Bible. Its the only kind of church I have ever actually felt the Holy Spirit in. Most of these churches seem to be less judgemental than the others. We kinda believe that God can take care of your mess, just like He takes care of ours. Other than those things we arent much different from mainstream churches such as methodist and baptist.
