Today I caught my first shiny! xd It was a weedel on Rt 31 in Soul Silver. I got it with the Geiratina (sp) that you got with Arcius (sp) in the runes. Had i any of my other pokemon I would of KO'ed it but since it was only a lv 2(geriatina) at the time I lowered it's hp to a sliver and used a great ball. In all the years in play pokemon this is the first shiny that I came across that wasn't part of the story line. (think red garados in gold/silver). I'm so ecstatic! Sorry for the pokemon misspellings to lazy to start my game to get the right spellings. Sooo who was your first shiny that you came across in the game that wasn't part of the story. Random encounter or chained?- Mine was random.

shiny ghastly in the old chateau in platinum.
my friend wasnt very bright 10 years ago. She hatched a shiny igglybuff out of the egg the day-care couple gives you in G/S/C and she thought it was glitchy. She traded it away to some guy. stare

My favourite I have is my shiny Skarmory, though.

I've never come across a shiny Pokemon on my own. =( Just Pikachu colored Pichu and Red Gyarados. But I don't count those cuz I didn't actually randomly encounter them.

In the old Gold version I got a Shiny Dragonair but too bad it's stuck there. x( In FireRed I got a Shiny Unown though, letter "P" -sigh- ...
My sisters got like a Shiny Lotad and a Shiny Paras, my friend gets a Shiny Magikarp which is so cool when gold, and my other friend got one too which I forgot... everyone gets something better D: I give up on trying for Shinies ha'.

I never tried getting a shiny cause I know I could never get one. It sucks.

One of the many Rayquaza's I caught ended up being shiny and luckily had some real good IVs if I remember correct.
I've gotten a couple others from stuff like egg hatching and loaning the game to bored people to see if they can try to get them. I've also traded for a couple. I used to have a shiny Makuhita but I traded him for like a celebi or something. Got a Shiny Solrock from a game I loaned someone and when I got it back they had a shiny solrock and I was like "No s**t?" I think it was fire red.
Then I got a Shiny Snorlax. I think it hatched from an egg but to be honest I've got so many unhatched Eggs there's probably another shiny hidden in there somewhere lol. I didn't want to catch 1000 pokes for Ranch so I bred a ton of eggs.

First and only shiny I caught was a shiny Zubat, which looked pretty awesome as a Crobat in my old Saphire.

I honestly don't remember what my first shiny was, it had to be either a shiny Roselia or Budew. I know I caught both of those in the wild but I just don't remember which one came first. As far as other shinnies I've found in my Diamond: Graveler, Starly, Nidoran(f), Grimer, Zubat, Clamperl and Staravia. On the other hand, I have had some decent success with breeding shiny Eevees, I currently have 8+ of those.

My first and only shinny accidently shiny was on crystal. Igglybuff hatched from the egg the daycare couple gives you xD
Sadly I'd still have her but... my cyrtal games internal battery died or something and now it wont keep save data ;-; so it erased my file *cry* I had mew also! (Traded from either yello, red or blue cant remember) I was so sad when it erased my file... and then I lost gold somehow and so I couldnt even get the pokemon I had on there either >.< So I start fresh with diamond and soulsilver!

My first shiny. Well, I didn't catch it, but in Crystal version I ran into a wild shiny tentacool but sadly before I realized what it was I had already hit 'run'. My first shiny catch however was a random shiny rattata i found in LeafGreen. After catching it I just stuck it on my PC. No it has migrated over to my diamond which was then put in my ranch. I did also breed a shiny seel in my platinum which caught me by surprise. :/
As far as chaining for shinies I have a few: Staraptor, Electivire, Manectric (and from that chain I managed to get 5 other shiny Electrike), Luxray, Floatzel, Eevee (which I think is now a glaceon o.O), I have a group of shiny swablu I chained (about 6 of them).

I first encountered a shiny tentacool in my Emerald. I know it seems kinda lame to get such a common pokemon, but I was sooooo happy. Later I found a shiny Mr. Mime in Diamond, followed by a shiny scyther I got in the a new file I started in Diamond when I was breeding for an adamant nature! But it wasn't adamant... crying
Unfortunately I forgot to trade tentacruel & Mr.Mime over to my sister's game before I restarted my Diamond. Then I traded my Diamond in to Gamestop for Platinum (Biggest mistake ever!). I had quite a nice Shiny collection on there in which I traded for.
*EDIT* I traded my Diamond in to Gamestop for Platinum, not for shiny Pokemon. lol

My sister was extremely lucky and got a fully trained Vaporean with the best IV's I have ever seen. It's HP was over 400 and it knew seismic toss which was H***ishly powerful. 400 damage per attack...excluding ghost types. And the fact she has a water team doesn't help..... She could use surf in team battles and it heals her vaporean completely. Her special defense is so low that she keeps refilling. She put a focus sash on it ever since I EV trained my old Alakazam. >.< RAGE!
