I think it's legitimately being happy with one's self. I'm not saying people have to go streaking on nightly basis, but looking at a magazine and saying, "That's not me, and I'm okay with it!"
I hope I explained this right sweatdrop

Fat Acceptance, for me, is being able to look in the mirror and like (maybe even LOVE) what I see--even when I'm nakie! teehee! No, but seriously, I haven't loved myself for most of my life and part of the reason for that has been my size. But now I'm the fattest I've ever been and I feel the best that I ever have about myself! biggrin Cool, huh? <3

for me it's accepting myself even when i'm put down for being fat (even though i'm quickly slimming)
it's also accepting that i'll never be as skinny as a model and im ok with that i like my food way too much any way tehe
when i can look in a mirror and say "I am Big.... But i LOVE me" it will be the day i have truly accepted myself for who i am and that day is quickly approaching
sorry if it's a bit confusing redface

Well,I'm an FFA which means female fat admirer.I just think fat is adorable,I don't really do much for the sexual part...that part is just kinda weird to me.To me an FA is a person who enjoys fat and accepts it.

Gay-Tastic Josh cherry god mother I think it's legitimately being happy with one's self. I'm not saying people have to go streaking on nightly basis, but looking at a magazine and saying, "That's not me, and I'm okay with it!" I hope I explained this right sweatdrop I pretty much agree with this I do too, but I also go further for myself. It's not enough, for me, to just be accepting of my own fat. It's not even enough to be accepting of other people's fat (which is easier than accepting one's own, anyway, as we all know well). For me, FA also means challenging fat-hating where and when I see it. And granted, most of the time this means me yelling at the tv, and the only person who hears me is my husband - but it can mean calling it out in social situations and at work too. And trying to change my dad's mind on it, which is a losing battle, but whatever. I guess you could say it is ONLY challenging anti-fat attitudes and bs, because loving your own fat and so on can be seen as breaking down anti-fat attitudes that you've already been taught. And it also makes the point that bringing out these arguments doesn't have to be argumentative, per se - being accepting and loving and NOT giving someone s**t are powerful ways of refuting the anti-fat message, just as much as standing up and yelling about it.

FA means the end of body snarking on all fronts. The morality placed on body size is ended. Clothing stores finally standardize womens clothing and carry size 00 to size 42. Models of all sizes are featured in Milan, with no chagrin from the critics about how obesity is ruining the world. Medical professionals see fat patients as people with health problems, and not walking bariatric surgery candidates. Fat people are shown in the media as complex individuals who live happy, healthy, and productive lives with loving family, friends, and significant others.
That is what FA means to me!!!!

Fat acceptance will be achieved when fat people are no longer demonized in media. This is really the only way to get the general public to accept anything. Once fat people are no longer targets of ridicule in pop culture, we'll be recognized as respectable members of society.
The sheep will follow the shepherd.

It's hard to describe so I'll give examples.
You know how if someone likes blue instead of red and both colors are viewed equally? That to me is acceptance.
When people, regardless of how they look, are all viewed equally, without demonizing or degrading someone else (this I'm still working on for myself), when people aren't labeled based simply on their looks, when society and the Media no longer glorifies certain people over others, when people are no longer told how to live, that will be true acceptance.

I think it's believing anybody can be beautiful no matter what their bodies look like so long as they're confident in themselves 3nodding

to me it's about stopping medical and workplace discrimination, and about getting word out that fat=/=unhealthy. that people that are fat can (and usually are) healthier than thin folks. it's all about public perception, because i dont think we'd be here if we didnt already realize we already know these things ourselves.
does that make sense? i hope so...
