(Yes, these are Pumpkin Pi's!)
A Quick Math Lesson! There is some evidence that around 2000 BC, the Babylonians and the Egyptians knew that the ratio between the distance around a circle (the circumference C) and the distance across a circle (the diameter D) is a constant. The symbol “π” was first used by William Jones in 1706 to represent the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. The modern representation is C/D = π. The value of pi goes on for a very long time: 3.1415926535897932384626433832795028841971 ... you get the idea. Geeks win special honor by memorizing and reciting pi to thousands of digits.
March 14 is often celebrated as "Pi Day" because the date can be expressed as 3.14, a numerical approximation for the value of π. It will be especially relevant in five years: 3/14/15!
In honor of Pi Day, we present several math/logic puzzles for you to solve. Each correctly solved puzzle is worth 3141 gold. Solve them all to receive 31,415 gold!
Send your puzzle solutions to PseudoVash or NekoNyah on or before Pi Day (Sun Mar 14) to receive your gold awards. We'll post the answers starting Mar 15.
If you don't want to do any thinking, try this Post Action Game. Bump this thread with a "Roll Dice" action. Choose 4-sided dice and roll 3 of them. If you get pi (3,1,4) you'll receive a super special surprise. Each person can bump up to 31 times. Every person who posts will receive 314 Tokens for their effort, no matter what the dice show.
Have fun, and Happy Pi Day!
