A bright, full moon shone that night, its brilliance illuminating the landscape with a soft, unearthly glow. A stream trickled melodiously as it wound about the silver-edged trees, reflecting the luminous circle in the sky and the numerous stars scattered around it. Its surface remained unbroken, save for the ripples on its edge, caused by the blue, rainbow-spotted tiger drinking from its banks.
Iridium licked his lips, effectively clearing out the drops of water that dripped from his muzzle down to return to the river below. With a sideways glance and a flicker of his ears as a regulatory check to check and see if another was close, he crouched and slowly entered the water. He waded through it silently but quickly, for the night was cold, and he would rather spend it on dry land than the icy waters.
Once on the other side, he shook himself, although layer of dew clung to his fur, making it sheen slightly in the light. This he ignored, and he turned towards the trees, sliding gracefully into its shadows. His silhouette was quick to disappear, leaving only the bright shine of his violet eyes and their curious sweep of the forest floor. Only one thought dominated his mind at the moment, and that was to find something interesting to do.
Tigers were solitary creatures for the most part, but that didn’t mean they were exempt from feelings of boredom.

Bright violet eyes shone as the predator stalked her prey. However, her prey was not ordinary prey, by no means was it prey. On the move before her was a handsome tiger. His pelt was decorated with various shades of browns, reds, and blacks. Talk about picture perfect. Viola purred in delight as she followed her "prey" through the tall grass, what made this only so much better was the fact that he was still unaware of her existence. Oh how that'd change in a matter of moments.
Her train of thought never had a chance to finish itself, fore suddenly the male before her stopped. It was suddenly joined by a slender female who's pelt was only decorated by ugly shades of oranges, and reds. The female went up to the male Viola'd been stalking with confidence radiating off her every step. She stopped before the male and muzzled him. Viola's tail bristled in disgust, and a myriad of emotions flooded into her eyes. Jealousy, anger... Whipping around on her heels she sprinted away from the disgusting sight of lovers before her and headed for the nearest stream she could remember. She absolutely had to clear that repulsive sight from her eyes.
The moment the the stream was within sight she took off into a running jump, and dove into the stream. Her head broke through the crystal surface of the water, and she paddled to the other side. It wasn't long when she laid eyes on one of the most beautiful tigers she'd ever seen drying himself off on the bank just ten feet in front of her. Viola's eyes narrowed and she let out a purr of satisfaction.
The hunt was one once more.

Iridium paused when the sound of something large splashing into the stream behind him reached his ears. He turned to face it, hidden from view in the shadows, save for his face, revealed by a sliver of moonlight through the trees. He tensed, readying himself against a potential threat, but was surprised to see what came out of the stream was nothing more than a female tiger, looking for all the world as if she jumped into streams in the middle of the night all the time.
He chuckled at the notion, and he thought she was a lovely tiger, with various shades of purple and dark spots running through her pelt. Her eyes were similar in shade to his, but they were much more pink and slightly closed in a captivating manner. Her body seemed longer, but it was hard to tell under the rippling surface of the water, trembling all the more when she purred, sending small vibrations about her.
“Hello,” he called, his voice deep but soft. “Enjoying yourself?”
To her, the question could seem vain, but to Iridium, who had assumed the purr to be one of content from the bath, it was nothing more but an innocent inquiry.

Viola blinked at his inquiry, wondering if he had not grasped the reason as to why she was here in the water. It'd seemed fairly obvious to herself of course. She wasn't the type to just go for a dive in the middle of the night for no apparent reason, no, she'd need a very good reason for doing such a ridiculous act, and the tiger before her was definitely a good reason to do so. A very good reason indeed.
The way the moon's light bounced off his pelt in such a flattering way was captivating to her, very much so. Wanting to avoid an awkward silence between the two she opened her mouth to answer his question. "Hey yourself.", she replied, "Oh yes I am, very much so. I'm rather enjoying the view.", she said, a hint of smirk in her voice. "And might I inquire why someone such as yourself is all by his lonesome on such a lovely night?"

Iridium smiled at the response, glad to know he wasn’t alone in enjoying baths, although a bit curious as to why the female was taking one in such low temperatures. He padded closer to her, his interest piqued, and he offered her a kind smile. For a moment, he looked behind him: at the dark trees that rustled slightly in the wind, at the luminescent stars speckled across the sky, at the moon dominating the sky with light, and he nodded as he turned back to the female, his eyes softening. “I agree.”
Well. He had never been quick to notice when others held an interest for him.
“There was little else to do,” he replied simply, giving a small shrug. “Although I suppose I can’t say that now.” He chuckled and stepped closer once more, before choosing to respond with a question of his own, purposefully wording it to mirror the female’s. “And might I inquire why someone such as yourself is walking about in the water on such a cold night?” he asked, his voice a friendly tease. But despite that, he soon joined her, padding into the water again.

Viola simply concluded that he was the "innocent" type. Most would know her intentions by now, and he didn't seem to show any signs of knowing. Some people were like that, and there was very little she could do to change that fact. This only made the task so much harder, yet so much simpler at the same time.
She smiled as he rejoined her, and decided that she couldn't quite argue with his reason for being here, it was better than hers anyway... In a sense of course. "I just finished my 'hunt." she said with a purr. "And when I approached the river I spotted new prey and couldn't stop myself from jumping in in pursuit." she finished, a seemingly innocent smile gracing her features.
The water wouldn't go forever without having its side effects though. Before much longer she felt the iciness of the water biting at her muscles, tiring them out rapidly, though her motivation for staying was much stronger than her tiredness, and thus, her resolve made maintaining buoyancy on the water and easier task. Only by a little.

The water rippled around his thick coat, which protected him from the water’s chills. Iridium slapped his tail playfully on the surface of the water, almost in a cub-like fashion, although he made sure not to hit the female. He doubted anyone wanted to be hit in the face with cold water in the middle of the night.
“Oh? Congratulations,” he said, paddling around a bit, lest he drowned from staying still. “I hope it was successful.”
The water did little to hinder him at the moment. Not only was his fur thick, but his skin was, as well. But that didn’t leave him protected against all the dangers, and he nicked the pads of his right forepaw against a sharp stone jutting from the river’s side, leaving him distracted from asking what, exactly, was the female after now?
“Woops,” he said, not the slightly hint of pain in his voice. It was nothing, really, but it wouldn’t be that way for long if he got himself infected, and so he scrambled out of the river and, after an apologetic grin towards the female, inspected his scratch after shaking himself dry.

Viola watched the water that he splashed slap against the water to her side from her peripheral vision. At least he wasn't picking for a water fight. Something like that definitely wouldn't end well on a day - well, night - like this. The concept of water fights always promised boundless fun, but anyone with their wits about them could see that that would likely lead to hypothermia in these conditions. Not that hypothermia would particularly be a bad thing now, all things considered... Shaking those ridiculous thoughts - even for her! - out of her head she merely nodded at his congratulations. Was it successful though? Not quite, but it had potential to be.
Her brows furrowed in slight concern as he padded out of the water, but it wasn't as if she'd want a reason to be able to leave the water. Paddling to the shore as fast as her tiring legs could take her she made it in good time and was by his side in two moments. "What's wrong?" she asked softly, not quite noticing the slightly bleeding paw.

”Hm? Iridium said, startled to see the female was so close to him so soon. But what else was he supposed to expect? The female certainly didn’t seem to be the cruel or stoic type, and it was only natural she be concerned. It was probably the sudden distance (or lack of it) between them that had surprised him, he supposed.
“Nothing big,” he continued, licking his paw quickly. Even the air could infect it. “It’s just a scratch..” He tilted his paw so she could see the small, almost invisible line, a reassuring smile on his face.
“You haven’t hurt yourself, too, I hope?” he asked, quickly glancing at her paws to see if they happened to be her reason for her quick departure. They didn’t seem to be injured, but there was something else that troubled him: she was shivering. Distressed, he went over to the female and pressed himself to her side, in hopes that his body warmth would help her, as the water didn’t seem to affect him as much as it did her.

Viola blinked and looked into the wound, glad it was nothing major or fatal for that matter. She normally wasn't the sympathetic type, but who knew really. Maybe there was something special about... Then she'd noticed that she hadn't inquired about his name yet, nor had she introduced herself. It was yet another thing that was off of her normal "way" of going about things.
"Of course not.", she replied with a smile, she was always careful with her body, any wounds would definitely drop her looks down a few scales. Before too long though, he was next to her side, pressing his warm pelt against her cold body. It was only then that she'd realized that she'd been shivering. At this pint she was just glad that her pelt was dark colored, or the blush that had to be on her face would be obvious to him.

”That’s a relief,” Iridium sighed, genuinely happy she was unharmed. Still, he was worried. She was shivering so much, and it was so late at night he feared she’d catch hypothermia or the like. Certainly, she must have felt the chills of the water seep through her fur. So why had she stayed so long, he wondered. It was true tigers were the only felines to actually like baths, but he didn’t think anyone would stay in the water long enough to inflict sickness on themselves on such chilly nights. And surely, she hadn’t stayed in for him?
But in any case, thinking about it wasn’t important. Her health was his top priority now, and he glanced around for a large tree with gaping roots, an abandoned den, anything, really, to get them out of the cold.
“How are you feeling?” he asked a moment later, hoping she was still okay, and that he was only over thinking her condition.

Viola looked down at her paws with the slightest hint of guilt for a moment. It really did sound like there was genuine concern in his voice, which was somewhat of a foreign concept to her. They usually didn't care about her well-being. Both had their own agendas to keep, and neither cared terribly much for each other, but Iridium was clearly oblivious... Almost as if... Almost as if he had no clue that she was just using him. That he was just another toy to him. The thought of that hacked away at some of her confidence. It wouldn't feel right to use someone who didn't know that they were being used, but would it even matter? Shaking the troubling thoughts aside she looked around for something to distract herself - and him - from this.
"Better.", she reassured him with a smile. Her eyes darted around again before she spotted what appeared to be an abandoned den of sorts. It was getting colder, he was looking worried, so proposing that they stay there for the night wouldn't sound too preposterous, would it? She would never know until she tried, so she decided to go for it. "Why don't we spend the night in that den?", she asked, gesturing towards it with her tail.

"Hm?" Iridium replied, looking around for whatever she was referring to. When his eyes landed on the den, a smile lit his features, and he stood, although he made sure to stay close to her side. "That sounds nice. It'd be great to get away from the cold night air," he said, making sure to specify. He didn't want to make it seem as if her wet fur was bothering him, especially since he still figured it was his fault she had come to the river in the first place.
"I hope you don't mind staying with me, though?" he inquired, a look of concern furrowing his brows. He wanted to help her, but it had just occured to him that maybe his prescence wasn't wanted, and that the best thing he could do for her at this point would be to leave.
