Are you offended by people questioning your beliefs?

No. That would be a welcome improvement from those who have already made up their minds without questioning.

Semiremis No. That would be a welcome improvement from those who have already made up their minds without questioning. What about those that view questions as an attack?

DaikonNairu -Ren- Semiremis No. That would be a welcome improvement from those who have already made up their minds without questioning. What about those that view questions as an attack? If it feels like I'm being attacked, I dont appreciate it and shy away from the conversation. But just questioning and having skepticism is normal.

DaikonNairu -Ren- Are you offended by people questioning your beliefs? I am offended by certain sorts of questions and methods of questioning, as in being attacked or flamed. But I am not offfended by the fact that people will question it.

DaikonNairu -Ren- Are you offended by people questioning your beliefs? Not at all. I got where I am, spiritualy, by questioning my beliefs and the beliefs of others. I believe that questions lead to advances. And guestioning is much preferable to belittleing or attacking. For those types, I let them know exactly what I think of them. I've never been very good at backing down, even when it might be smarter to do so.

It depends on sincerity. I'd try and answer almost any sincere question as best I could (even if it's a little foolish), but if it's used as an attack or a kind of manipulation I don't really want to debate with that person, and I get snippy with them.

Not at all. I figure if you can't back up your own religion, which most people follow without question, than why are you following it. The only reasons I can think of for people getting angry when someone asks simple questions about their beliefs would be a. because they are insecure about it or b. they don't know and they don't want to admit it.

No. And I don't see any reason why anyone should be offended, other than insecurity. Even if the questioning is in the form of ridicule.
I ******** hate the word "offended". If people thought less about how offended they are all the time, the world would be a better place.

Questioning me is alright. I don't mind. It helps me grow in my faith. My problem is when people ask those questions in an attempt to be disrespectful. I've had people ask me a question about my religion and then pop out an insult every few words of my explanation. There's no reason for that.

We've all seen this a hundred times over in both M&R and the Supernatural forum. Probably a billion other places as well.
