So, I've been a band nerd for my entire teenage life, but as my teeanage years are coming to an end, and I'm becoming more serious about my future career, I'm not sure if I want to continue playing. Since I graduated high school (almost three years ago now...) i havent had a reason or any material to practice, so I've just been practicing aimlessly. It's sad to think that I've worked so hard just to give it all up. does anyone have any advice?

Yes. -Buy music that is very challenging, learn it, and play it in front of a group of people. -Go to college, join Marching Band, or take a major in music. -Continue to practice aimlessly, and write your own songs. That's basically what I'm doing, but I still have two more years of high school!

@ Chrisserz: I was a music major for a year and a half in college and it was HORRIBLE. I recently changed and I'm so ridiculously happy I did.
@ Argetlam13: Find a local orchestra/band or some such. Places where people from all lots of life just come together and play music. I'm doing that now since I changed my major, I don't get to play oboe much. It may cost a bit to be able to, but its worth it. That and listen to some of your favorite music and try and figure it out on your instrument. I've done that on flute and oboe for a whole bunch of different video game songs and it's been a lot of fun. ^^

That depends. Do you WANT to have something in your life involved with music? If no, then just make it a hobby. Or something to do on your free time. If yes, then I consider to continue. HIGHLY.

I'm thinking about quitting my playing career too ... I just can't get myself to be any better and I'm not good enough to do anything close to professional.
It depends on what you want to do. Look to see if there's a community band in your area if you want to continue playing.
