"ABC's"
Kit and Mel sat in the floor of the room. Flashcards spread in front of both of them. Letters and illustrations covered the cards.
"Alright," Kit started and picked up a card at random from the piles on the floor. "What's this one?" This card just so happened to have a "G" on it with a drawing of a griffin that Kit had drawn. this seemed to be more interesting than the typical giraffe that was on any other cards. the rest of the cards also had various fantasy creatures and objects on them. That was what held the young girl's attention so Kit went along with it.
"G!" Mel had exclaimed proudly. "Griffin has 'G'." She was beaming proudly that she was catching on to the letters and the sounds that they made. Then Mel reached down and searched the the cards. She then picked up a "K" and handed it to Kit. Then she started digging through the pile until she found an "M" for herself.
"I found the letters alone!" Mel was making up new ways to play and learn with her cards. Kit was a little surprised how quickly she was catching on. She did indeed find the first letters of both their names on her own. That was Mel's favorite game. Finding the first letter of things' names.
"Good job!" Kit praised Mel for a job well done. "Are you ready to work on some numbers next?"
"Yes" Mel stated. The two began counting off all the flash cards as they picked them up to put them away.
She was learning fast. If Kit was right she would be a pretty smart child, learning more everyday.
