Millions are.

So apparently the Tampa Bay area is having a bit of a competition/quarrel between Christians and atheists (those with the United Coalition of Reason). After a Christian Business retiree spent $50,000 on billboards that he then used to spread a religious message. In retaliation $100,000 was spent by the coalition to set up signs spreading their message such as:

"Are you good without God? Millions are."

Personally I can't stop wondering what is wrong with these people. That's $150,000 right there wasted on stupid signs/billboards. I can think of a million better ways to spend it:

Feeding villages
college scholarships
youth centers
buying me a hummer...um I mean, public transportation...
I wouldn't mind a new wardrobe either.

The list goes on and on.

We have the same problem here in Georgia.
You can't go down a straight road without seeing "Trust God" on it.
But it isn't because I'm Atheist.
* Even though the message seems alittle self-centered. *
But the money spent to have all those bill boards with two letters on them could have been used for much better things.

I'm torn, because I actually think the Christian was right in away, but he should have put his money into a better way to get the message out, like an organization that builds orphanages that also teach the Gospel. I can't see the point of spreading atheism because there's no consequences if you aren't an atheist, but I can see the point of spreading a religion like Christianity where the unSaved might go to Hell.

At Atheism Spreading:
It isn't what you win or lose.
If people were worried about that, they would research all the religions they could. It is about what seems the most logical.

Large advertisement without any beneficial help to anyone is terrible.
It's just litter standing tall through the city, not needing to be there.

* Religion shouldn't exactly even should need to be spread by orphanages. I mean, you could but can't you do a nice thing without advertising a belief? *

It's about people getting Saved, especially kids. It's not just a belief, it's about telling people about Him, because being in a relationship with Him is amazing. ^_^

See, there was a little belief I had of religional acceptance.
Pretty much, I believe kids should have the right to choose what they believe in instead of having a single belief pushed into their lives.
This could go from any belief, even Atheism.

I mean, not everyone believes in the same thing. We might as well should give kids a chance.
Besides, I thought it was bad for religious folk to proselytize?

Why? If their gonna help those kids, and especially if their doing it because they felt Jesus wanted them to, then why would they bother with other beliefs?

I don't think it's bad. I think Christianity's the on true religion and should be spread. Besides, if God doesn't exist, who gets to decide if it's 'bad'?

I'm not going to argue with you again about morals because that is not related here.
I suggest, however, to not assume that Atheists can't have morals of good and bad.
Secondly, I told you that many people have different religions and all of them say their religion is correct. In my opinion, their opinion is equal to yours. Therefor, those kids should have a chance at believing in what they want to and not have someone else tell them what is correct. Mostly because there is the possibility of it being wrong.
I mean, you could talk about your religion and what it wants but that doesn't change how another religion and it's follower could tell me something similar. Not to mention I remember Jesus said that he wanted people to join his religion, not have others get people to join.
* Forcing if you will, although that seems too strong. *

Eh, I have a hard time criticizing this when corporations waste millions and billions of dollars each year attempting to manipulate consumers to buy their products. That's a worse expenditure of money in my book compared to this billboard any day.

I know atheists can, I just happen to think that's proof God exists.
For that argument you could apply the majority argument because of the weight of the amount of people who believe something. Christianity happens to have the most followers.
Sure, but there's a good possibility of it being right too, and it is, then those kids coming to know Christ is the best thing that could happen to them.

What do you mean?

So you believe in God because you don't know where morals come from and also why so much religion exists and Christianity being the largest?
Well, I might explain morals in a scientific way if you really can't comprehend why the anti-religious can't have morals without a deity.
Although, this will be quick to go.
Religion was created, from what I recall, by the Romans when they started contemplating on where we came from.
They used the idea of a clock to spread the idea of religion.
The idea went that a clock must have a maker, so they believed that humans needed a maker. Even though the idea is slightly flawed.
Now for Christianity being popular, Roman Catholic was spread in the past by crusaders and spread the religion across the lands which started the wide spread of the religion.
So then it became pretty popular in late Europe where, of course, Europeans could travel to America and spread their religion.
Infact, that was also one of the reasons they went to America was because of spreading religious beliefs.
Might be how America is mostly a Christian nation.

Now for the Jesus comment I made, the Bible stated somewhere in page 570? Something near 550-600 or something like that.
Anyway, Jesus stated somewhere along the lines of
" I want my children to find the way of God, not have others show them the way. "
Which was pretty much like saying to not proselytize.

No, I believe in God because of my revelation and my mom's and the fact that so many others have a similar revelation, and also because of some of the things I read which view the world through a religious scope and make it make more sense. I'm also a Christian because without God, I wouldn't have a reason not to kill myself.
You're off. There's plenty of religions who root farther back then that, like Judiasm technically began with Abraham far before the Romans were even around. And yes, religion being very popular is one sign there's some deity out there.
That's a very simple argument. ><

You've never heard of the great commission?

Matthew 28:16-20 16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in [2] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

What Jesus would be against is forcing our beliefs on others, but he commanded us to spread his word.
