Please tag your character topic with [WFA] when submitting. A mod will check out your character. If it is accepted we will remove the tag.

After a few problems with various characters, it's been organised among some of the mods of UG to have a standard criteria for creating a character to be followed; some points you must include in your character profile, in a written format. This guild will no longer be accepting pure stats for character information, as this is a literary roleplay guild. While you may still craft your roleplay character to your own template, you must include this points:

General Character Information

Name: For people making DROW characters, rather than slapping the keyboard with a fish and hoping something ominous results, try these naming sites. And here is the in-guild discussion of drow names.
Age: When deciding on the age of your character, keep in mind that a younger character will be less skilled, powerful and experienced than an older one. There is really nothing scary about playing someone with gray hair, so to speak. Here is the in-guild thread discussion of drow ages.
Race: Please keep in mind this is a DROW guild. So. Some more DROWS would be nice.
Class: Please don't immediately jump on the assassin bandwagon. We need warriors and mages too. And in an effort to pimp out the slave culture in UG, check out this informative thread on drowish slavery.
Religion: The Gods are very active in this world, so I suggest you choose wisely and remain devout.

Appearance: When making your appearance, either WRITE IT OUT or use ART THAT HAS BEEN MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR YOUR CHARACTER, either as a gift or a commission. IF you get the permission of the artist to otherwise use it, THEN you may use other art.
YOU MAY SEGMENT YOUR FEATURES. If you cannot thoroughly describe your character in a standard written format, than listing their hair colour/style/length, eye colour/shape, skin tone, height, weight, build, clothing, all those things is ENCOURAGED.

Background History: Let me put this delicately: this should be one of the MAJOR things you focus on, because a bad character history will ruin a LOT of otherwise good work. You don't have to go into great detail. You can make a vague summary of their history. But it must still be clear, coherent, and a little bit of RESEARCH wouldn't go astray.

Items: Magical or mundane items. We've come to realise that non-combat items need to be checked too. So, this includes magical clothing, jewellery, whatever.
But please don't go into a list on their wardrobe. We don't care about their spiffy boots. Their spiffy 10-League boots, however...

Combat:
When it comes to the combat features of your character, stats will not be necessary. They are redundant in a literary roleplay. Combat information should include:

Weaponry: Again, keep away from "Uber Longsword +4" type stuff, and just put simply what your weapons are. If they have any charms/poisons, add what the effects are.

Skills or Powers: Yeah, this is another section I expect close attention to be paid to. I really don't think I need to expand on why. But keep it in ratio with your age. More years = more power. Experience, research, learning, practice... they will always overcome raw talent.

Combat Weakness: "Not good with words" is NOT a legitimate weakness. In a fight, words don't matter. Something that will put your character at a disadvantage if exploited. For example, mages are not going to have the physical strength and training to swing a sword with any great force or deadliness.

THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE LIST.
If you have a pet, add a category about your pet. If you want to add a bit about your family, do it. You can add to this list if you feel more of your character needs to be covered, BUT YOU MUST INCLUDE THESE POINTS. Mods will need to make sure that these at least are covered, and are covered THOROUGHLY AND CLEARLY.

AND PLEASE SPELL CHECK YOUR PROFILE. MOST COMPUTERS SHOULD HAVE A PROGRAMME INSTALLED, AND FIREFOX AND GOOGLE CHROME (i.e. the good web browsers) HAVE SPELLCHECK.
IF YOU STILL LACK A PROGRAMME, TRYTHIS ONE. A coherent profile is more likely to get approved...

TO BE EXTRA SURE TO NOT ONLY GET YOUR CHARACTER APPROVED, BUT TO ALSO MAKE A REALLY GOOD, DETAILED, INTERESTING CHARACTER, CHECK OUT AGLO'S GUIDE TO CHARACTER CREATION.

Updates:
ADDED AGLO'S GUIDE TO CHARACTER CREATION.
Added some in-guild source links. More relevant ones would be appreciated.
From now on, characters will need the approval of two different mods.

Updates:
Please re-submit old character profiles. We ask this in order to encourage consistency with the new approval guidelines.
Please tag your profiles so we'd know that they're re-submitted.
I.e. [WFRA] or [Re-submitting], etc.

Note: This does not apply to the profiles that were submitted after February 19th 2010, when a new rule requiring two moderator approvals was released.
