This large hill looks over the Hidden Mist Village. From the peak, one can see the whole village, if it is a clear day. Which is rare to encounter, but a beautiful site to see, especially if it's blanketed in snow.

-Before the Kage Deaths-

A sigh escaped into the empty hill overlook, accompanied by the sound of crunching snow. The foot prints that were left behind, heeled boots, one would guess. They belonged to the female who now rested on the ground, her back straight as the young lady watched the peacefully night view of the village. "...It seems so peaceful at this time..." A soft yet quiet voice, one that suited her looks.

With the wars going on, the winter was the only time the Mist Village was left alone, due to the harsh winters that only the shinobi that lived here were used to. "...Hibari...If only you could see this with us," The young lady whispered quietly as she eyed the misty form of her voice in the air. She turned her torso around to look at the male behind her. "Hello," she smiled, as she pulled her scarf up to cover her mouth, due to the cold. On the scarf, was the headband metal piece, showing she belonged in this village. To the person behind her, the lady asked, "When exactly.. do you think Mizukage-sama will be back?"

"You always have loved this spot....Even back then." Zaine's voice came from behind Karin, the Jounin took a seat next to the woman, his cloak closed up against the wind and his eyes locking with his friend's for a moment before looking skyward.

"I bet Rei-sensei is telling everyone how she has the best medical ninja around, and she probably can't wait to get home after all this time and tell us what she did up at the summit." he said with a wide grin, "So cheer up ok?" his words were slightly muffled by the fur of his coat, his golden eyes shimmering with a warmth that came with working alongside someone for years and trusting them utterly.

"Mhm," Karin smiled, tucking a strand of her dark hair behind her ear. Her already soft voice was muffled by the scarf, yet she knew that her friend could hear her. By now, Zaine had acquired a better sense of hearing due to him being around her so much. "Cheer up? But today... it's been two years... since Hibari..." Karin trembled in her warm jounin jacket. "...Two years... since that day," The scarf covered Karin's eyes now, the lady's head tilted downward as she held in her tears. Her small hands balled into fists on her knees. Long breaths in could be heard as the tears were being fought back.

Though it took a few minutes, the warm tears that wanted to escape were surpressed, this time. Karin looked at Zaine, and nodded, "I hope she gets back soon...I just have a bad feeling..." No. This was no time to be depressed! Karin told herself. Happy thoughts. "No. She WILL be back home... soon, neh?" With bright blue eyes that stared at the young man, who had been by her side forever, the young kunoichi forced a smile.

Zaine looked back to Karin, his expression becoming pained at the mention of that day, he ducked lower into his cloak to hide the look from his friend, tears pricked at his eyes and were blinked away by the young Jounin, Zaine had ceased to wear his Flack Vest since the tradgic death of Hibari, he blamed himself still even though two years had passed, the wound was still fresh on his soul and would likely never heal properly.

Shaking himself fiercely he smiled at Karin, "I'm positive she will be back soon, she promised us she would afterall."

(EPIC IRONY! XD)

With swift movements, the tall Mist shinobi popped up from her seat in the snow. The black boots Karin wore carried her over to Zaine as she wrapped her seemingly weak arms around him. "We'll be there to welcome her back!" Letting her arms drop to her side, she danced counterclockwise around Zaine to hise backside. "Am I right?" A chuckle escaped her lips as she happily skipped off to the gates.

There at the gates, the two shinobi would wait for their teacher. Little, little did they know...

Of the news soon to arrive.

Zaine blinked as she danced about him, a grin spreading across his hidden features as Karin managed to once again break him loose from the talons of guilt that threatened his mind. "Let's go then!" he said with a chuckle, speeding off with her to the gates.

He would realize that he would never see the woman he idolized again....

Some village people were already there at the hill overlook, having heard the memorial was going to take place here. Karin, who had taken her time to go to her home first and change, was now in a black kimono, with only a white obi. Her near black but navy hair pinned into a bun. Karin walked over to the post that had Rei's name inscribed into it. "Your remains were not found... sensei, I'm sorry." Karin murmured to the post. The Mizukage thanked some of the chuunin and jounin who were already their, praying for Rei to rest in peace, and placing flowers down in front of the post.

Karin looked at her right hand, where she gripped a small white lily. She placed it so that the flower was at the base of the post. Standing up from her crouched position from putting the flower down. Karin saw the incense burning in the small pottery bowl. "Without having to ask them... they already prepared the memorial service themselves..." Karin smiled, glad that many of the village's shinobi cared for her sensei. Their Mizukage. Shuffling through the snow, Karin made it to the incense pot and picked up a stick of incense for herself. Then, with careful hands lit it and blew the small fire that had formed at the tip out. The small red orange glows of the incenses were warm colors that contrasted the colors of the village surroundings.

Dull grays, blues, whites, and blacks, Karin never realized how bland the colors of the village were. Rei was that bright flame that had kept Karin from realizing this, now that the flame had blown out, Karin could see them. She let out a sigh, as she waited for Zaine. He would come soon, she thought, as would the other villagers, she hopped.

Takeshi walked to the hill overlook, deciding that it would be rude not to show up. He noticed that it was snowing a bit more intensely everywhere....other than the funeral site. "Hm....that's....strange." He said to himself. Before making himself visible to everyone, he looked around quickly. "Chuunin, Jounin, villagers, and the new Mizukage are here...." He said to himself.

He walked over to the top of the hill where the funeral was being held. He then stood right next to the new Mizukage, Karin. True, he wasn't the best company and probably not the one Karin was hoping to see, but he thought it was important for someone to keep her company for a little while. He simply closed his eyes and stood there solemnly.

((Just something that I thought fit a little bit.))

Genji had made his way to the hill overlook. Genji visited this place often with his father and older brother. As Genji peered out into the village, he felt sad again. Before, the village was beautiful in it's chilled pastel and cool relaxing colors. However, today was different. It was meloncholy, depressing. Genji never saw it that way before. He averted his gaze quickly. The smell of lilies greeted his nose. The snow was layering on his hair. With a few pats from his hand, the snow flaked away. There was more snow now compared to earlier that day. Genji gripped himself to keep warm.

Karin was there, most likely waiting for Zaine. Genji thought that it would be a good idea to comfort her. She looked so sad with the snow making stars on her black kimono. Genji walked over to her and stood near her. He did not want her to feel alone.

Axel suddenly appeared out of nowhere right next to Takeshi. Axel's Crow clones had come as well but they simply handed their earpieces to Axel and poofed away seeing as they were not needed anymore. Axel was not wearing any funeral attire at all seeing as he didn't have any to wear, instead he was just in his regular ninja attire that he wore everyday. Axel looked at the bottle of incense and simply bowed his head in respect, Axel also felt very ashamed because he didn't have any funeral attire to wear.

(Enter, Ronmaru.)

Ronmaru entered the Hill Overlook with a grimace lining his face; he had never like attending funerals, and this one only proved to be more painful. The man had just been given the sensei he'd always wanted, and now after that short moment of joy, despair struck him with the realization that, at the death of the previous leader of the village, he was being treated.

This realization was gone now, but he'd been dwelling on it for a rather short time. He would stand proud for the previous, and with that in mind, he stood next to Zaine and didn't say a word to his new teacher as they honored her death.

Shimo had finally made it to the funeral while his clone hid nearby. As much as he wanted to avoid the funeral and hide while his clone filled in for him he thought it would be better if he properly paid his respects. At first he thought it best to leave the clone, but his luck he would need it around.

On his way to the hill he plucked a flower customary for funerals. He held it lightly in his right hand to not damage it. The people that arrived ahead of him clearly had a close relationship with he and were fighting back tears. Finding it hard to keep his composer he kept his head down to avoid eye contact with anyone.

Zaine entered from parts unknown, his face controlled but only one who was as close to him as Karin would notice the subtle indicators of his inner turmoil, he had vowed that he would not lose this woman, the only person he had left from the happier times and he would not let her suffer the fate of his other lost friends.

He walked up and took his spot next to Karin, he had doffed his usual cloak and now wore a suit of pure and untouched black, however in his front chest pocket were two pristine and virginal white lilies, one from him and as he placed it on the post and murmurred, "I'm sorry I wasn't able to protect them Sensei, but I will not lose Karin...I promise both you and Hibari that." he smiled weakly, a tear or two creeping into his eye as he placed the second flower next to his, "And this is from Hibari, though I'm sure you two are having a hell of a time together eh?" he said tremulously.

Grabbing two sticks of Incense he lit both deftly and held them closely, he stepped next to Karin and hugged her tightly, avoiding the burn of the sticks and avoiding burning her with his pair. "We will make her proud." he murmurred in gently, releasing her and taking her hand in his, lending her his prescence in an attempt to reassure her.

Ronmaru was next; he followed Zaine's example, and said his own silent goodbyes to the previous Mizukage. "You were...instrumental in my life. If you had not been there when I needed you most...." He broke off, choking on his own words as he set the lily by Zaine's. He took an incense stick, and moved over to Zaine's other side. Ronmaru was in extreme peril, but he wouldn't let that show as he stood proud for the previous Mizukage, letting the other members of the village take their turns in honoring the Mizukage.

Of course, as he'd promised before, the little soliloquy from before had been erased from his mind for the moment; he would dwell on it in the passing of a village leader. "And with that, I beseech you go to the heavens, and find a resting place of the purest and most indescribable solace...advance into those happy times ahead of you, and remember the people of this village with the vigor and spirit we presented to you. We may grieve in the coming times, but your essence will forever remain in our hearts. The village will grow and prosper again....and we'll do it all in honor of you."

Ronmaru was impressed with himself. No matter how much of his emotions he poured into that speech, he hadn't shed a single tear. However, his facade wouldn't last forever. Again, the pent up emotions from the most recent experiences found their way down his cheek, and yet again the thud of his tear seemed to shake him to the core.
