AltusAn odd looking Cherubi sat in the shop, absently scooping bites out of her Chocolate Sundae. On the desk in front of her was an open notebook, with words scrawled all over it. In her mouth she held a pen.
"Rowan turned around, startled by the- no, no...that doesn't sound fluid enough..." She murmured to herself, scratching something out. She continued to write in her notebook, totally engrossed now. She didn't notice that her Sundae was melting at an alarming rate.
Altus the Riolu came into the shop, stretching. It was a beautiful day, and he really didn't want to spend it sleeping inside like he has for the past long while. First the mission he had recruited Team Polaris to do, which was exhausting, and then that obstacle course. He's ready for a break that didn't involve curled up in their Team's room napping. besides, he needed to be refreshed for the second part of their training the day after.
Looking around the store, which was pretty empty, he spotted the Cherubi writing in her notebook. He sat down at the table next to her, and waved over the Milktank.
"Some Chocolate Milk please." He ordered, then examined the dark brown table. The Cherubi was angrily murmuring to herself, repeating
"No, no, that doesn't work." a lot.
Altus thanked the Milktank as she brought him his Chocolate Milk, and he sat back, relaxed, and enjoyed the drink. Although he tried to ignore her, he was getting more and more curious by the second about what the Cherubi was doing. She seemed to have found an answer to whatever she had been stressing over, because she was now writing quickly and without stopping. Her Sundae lay as a melted puddle in the bowl in front of her.
Finishing his drink, Altus hopped off his seat and approached the Cherubi.
"Hey, what're you writing there?" he asked. The much smaller Pokemon gave a startled cry and fell backwards off her stool.
"Don't eat me! Don't believe what they all say, my second head tastes horrible, really!" She screamed. Confused, Altus stepped forward and helped her to her feet.
"Um...I'm not going to eat you..." He explained. The Cherubi turned to face him.
"Ah, yeah, I know...sorry, force of habit...I er, kinda grew up somewhere where everyone seemed to want to take a bite out of me. Not sure if that's worse or when they're big enough to actually eat me whole." She apologized. Altus shook his head.
"No, no, it's fine. I shouldn't have startled you." Altus said, and helped put the stool the Cherubi had fallen off of back up. She jumped back on, and he took the seat next to her.
"So...what are you writing?" he asked, peering over at the notebook. The Cherubi snatched it from under his nose with her second head.
"Eeek! please don't look! I'm just writing a story for myself!""Ah, sorry..."Then, out of nowhere:
"Hey, do you belong to an exploration team?" She asked. Altus blinked, caught by surprised, but finally nodded.
"Yeah, Team Polaris. Are you?"The Cherubi didn't answer as she heard the name of his team, and seemed to have forgotten he was there.
"Polaris...the North Star...A guiding compass for all that live under the stars...that's a beautiful name for a team..." She murmured, a sparkle in her eyes. She then turned to face Altus.
"Let me join!"Altus really didn't know how to act around this odd Cherubi anymore. She was just so...erratic?
"Um...why?" he asked. She hopped onto the table and managed to -with difficulty- put her little notebook and pen away in a pouch by her side.
"I love stories and art! But I need inspiration! Being with an exploration team would be great for my writing, and a way to support myself! How about it? Let me join, and I'll record your Team's stories!""Erm...well, I'll have to ask Incultyr and Morana first, since they're the leaders-""That's settled then, I'll go pack!" The Cherubi said cheerfully, jumping onto the floor.
"I'll be back here in half an hour, and you can take me into the palace!""Wait, but-!" he began.
"Don't worry about it, you can call me Chronicler!" And then she disappeared through the doors.
