Kusari had been spying in on Bull-taicho and found out that Kaisho was undergoing shikai training. This jealously led to the following ... The setting: The execution grounds at midnight. ҞUSARI Ҟ㊉R㊉SU
Ṥqṳḁḋ Ṥḕṽḕṅ Ḟṍṳṙṫḧ Ṥḕḁṫ ḁṅḋ Ḋṙṳṅḱḁṙḋ
pɹɐʞunɹ◖ puɐ ʇɐǝS ɥʇɹnoℲ uǝʌǝS pɐnbS  Kusari sat down on a rock and looked out into the night sky, picking out a single star and focusing all of his attention onto it. "I will not allow Kaisho to surpass me on that level. I have to become better than him." He pulled out his tanto and unsheathed it. "Tell me your name." Silence. "SHOW ME YOUR WORLD!" He slammed the sheath closed in anger. "Useless." He refocused on the star and unknowingly closed his eyes, still seeing the starscape in his mind. "Why? So you can never use me?"

pɹɐʞunɹ◖ puɐ ʇɐǝS ɥʇɹnoℲ uǝʌǝS pɐnbS Kusari quickly turned around, this was not where he was before. He looked around at the dank, dark, cave, and heard the water on the edges. Two blue orbs stared down at him from a giant silhouette. Before he could say anything the voice spoke once more. "You want my power for the wrong reasons. You need to loosen up, calm down, and chill." Kusari's body suddenly felt uncomfortably cold, as if somebody was holding a blow torch to his flesh, but from the cold rather than the heat. Kusari began to grimace. "Ahhh, so he does feel pain." The room suddenly lined with blue fire. "If you want this, you will earn it." The silhouette was now illuminated by the fire. It was a giant crab, man, insect, thing ...

pɹɐʞunɹ◖ puɐ ʇɐǝS ɥʇɹnoℲ uǝʌǝS pɐnbS "What are you?" Kusari asked in awe, still shivering from the cold. "I am ________________ the spirit hidden within your zanpakuto that you wish to speak to so eagerly." The crab man was many times larger than Kusari, and thus very intimidating. Kusari had heard that the zanpakuto spirits could take virtually any form, but this was unexpected. "So I just have to use you more, then you'll give me shikai?"The spirit laughed, "No." His laughter ceased on that one word. "But if you pass this challenge I'll consider it." He waved his claw and a blue heart appeared before Kusari, it quickly became encased in a block of ice so thick Kusari could barely see it, but he could hear the heartbeat. "Release your heart from this frozen temple and then we'll talk." The crab man scuttled into the water and propped its head on it claws. Suddenly millions of crabs came out of the water, most of them the size of a fly, but a few were the size of a foot.

pɹɐʞunɹ◖ puɐ ʇɐǝS ɥʇɹnoℲ uǝʌǝS pɐnbS Kusari began to chip at the ice with the tanto, not realizing the crabs. The smaller ones ran up and began to climb the block of ice and clustered together to block Kusari from attacking the ice while the larger carbs lingered back. Noticing this Kusari began to stab the smaller crabs tho chip the ice, but with every one he killed the ice grew thicker and thicker. Kusari thought about everything he had done just to get this far in life. 'No. He can't do this to me. I've come to far to fall behind now.' He looked to the large crab man and said, "Its rigged.""No it isn't."Kusari spat back in anger, "The crabs block it, then they turn to ice when you kill them.""Maybe you shouldn't kill them."(The music of his Revolation.)

pɹɐʞunɹ◖ puɐ ʇɐǝS ɥʇɹnoℲ uǝʌǝS pɐnbS Kusari sat down and stared at the block of ice. The small blue crabs covered it and stared at him with human faces. It was rather creepy to see it, but even creepier still was that he recognized the faces. Highschool and College friends, former coworkers, shinigami from the academy, they all stared at him with sad eyes. "NO!" His foot lashed out at the block of ice and crushed some of them as the ice grew thicker. The crabs were quickly replaced by similar crabs featuring his mother and father. Kusari began to tear up a bit, but stopped as the crab man spoke once more. "Your supposed to be heartless Kusari-kun. You always talk about not giving up, but whats this I see before me. Your mind is to weak to wield me boy, just give up."Kusari didn't reply to the crab man, after all, he was right. Kusari was being a hypocrite of his own morals.

pɹɐʞunɹ◖ puɐ ʇɐǝS ɥʇɹnoℲ uǝʌǝS pɐnbS One of the larger crabs approached from the opposite side and began to devour the smaller crabs, they continued to freeze, but it appeared that no additional ice was stacking. Kusari backed away from the ice and looked back, the crabs fled from him, but as he moved to the left the crabs rushed for the block of ice. As they devoured the crabs they all became coated in blue fire that began to slowly melt the ice in one area until Kusari could see the heart. He ran up and reached inside to grab it, but the hole was not yet large enough, so the crabs kept up. "I've beaten your little game." Kusari said snarkly to the crab man. The crab man spoke in his cool voice once more. "You think so eh? I don't see the heart out of the ice yet."The crabs kept devouring their own kind and flaming until the hole was wide enough to get the heart out. Kusari approached it once more and began to reach in to grab the heart. "I win."

pɹɐʞunɹ◖ puɐ ʇɐǝS ɥʇɹnoℲ uǝʌǝS pɐnbS Just as Kusari was about to grab the heart the six crabs clamped down on his arm with their twelve pincers. Kusari felt like his arm was going to melt off until the ice reformed around it and he lost all sensation. Just to add salt to the wound the crab man climbed out of the water and grabbed Kusari in his pincer. "What the Hell!? Put me down!""You don't get it do you? Look at the crabs."
Kusari looked at the crabs, they too had human faces. "Bullene-taicho, Kaisho, Bob-san, Sadon, Evil-soutaicho, and ..." He paused for a moment in disbelief before outbursting at the crab-man, "AND THAT IDIOTIC, PACIFIST, SUBSTITUTE PANSY!"

"The symbolism behind what just happened?""Symbo-what?"
The crab-man sighed. "Seriously man, do you see the hidden meaning in this?"Kusari thought hrd for a moment before saying, "That these people are holding me back from true power?"The crab man's claw tightened before dropping Kusari. "Indirectly, but not exactly. Why don't you think about it a little more and get back to me."Kusari sat in front of the rock, with his arm locked in the crabs' pincers.

pɹɐʞunɹ◖ puɐ ʇɐǝS ɥʇɹnoℲ uǝʌǝS pɐnbS Kusari sat there for some time, he could no longer feel his arm hanging above him. "I give up, this isn't my thing." "I'm sorry, but you can't give up." "Bullshit I can't!" Kusari began to get flustered with the crab man." "You haven't even tried yet." Kusari fired back at the man, "I CAN'T MOVE MY ARM!! WHAT THE ******** DO YOU EXPECT ME TO DO!?" "I expect you to think, but maybe thats a little much to ask of you." "Are you calling me stupid?" "No, not at all," the crab said sarcastically. "Good, because I'm not." His anger had began to pass and he sat there against the ice and thought. 'The crabs can melt the ice, but they're frozen into the ice with me, but they held my arm when I got close to the heart.' He continued to search out more details. 'They're afraid of me, and they hate me, why not burn me with the ice.' Kusari looked at the crab man, who seemed to be quite amused, then he turned back to the crabs and looked into their faces. They all looked so determined, so adamant. Kusari didn't know if they would even understand him, but he said, "Light it up, don't worry about me, just get yourselves free. There is no reason we should both suffer." The Kaisho crab looked at him confused, as if Kusari had gone mad. Kusari narrowed his eyes and said, "DO IT!" And so it happened, the crabs caught fire and escaped, burning Kusari's arm in the process. He felt the burning, but the sensation in his arm was severely dulled. When Kusari looked back the crabs were still burning away, trying to free his arm too, and after some time his arm slipped out and fell limp at his side. "Thank you." Kusari sighed in relief and leaned back against the ice for a few moments. It felt as if the weight of the world had been lifted, Kusari's soul was at peace, and everything was fine until the sound of the ice growing back threw him unwillingly into reality once more. "Wha-!?" Kusari got up and spun around as the six crabs were frozen into the middle of the ice, guarding the heart. The crab-man stepped out of the water once more and said, "Tsume Hiya En No, but call my Tsume." He held out his claw and said, "You know how this works right? You say my command phrase, then my name and I'll come to help you, otherwise, I'll be napping, speaking of which." Tsume yawned. "Wait! Whats your command phrase?" "I thought you would have picked up on it by now man." He bent down to Kusari's level and breathed his icy breath into Kusari's face, "Thaw your frozen heart, but don't be decieved though, I'm more fire than ice, I just prefer the cold." (((OVERKILL!!!!! I'm not formatting this post.))))

Kusari awoke from the trance to see the breaking daylight. The feeling had returned to his arm and things seemed like a dream. He looked at the tanto in his lap before drawing it and holding it out. "Thaw your frozen heart, Tsume Hiya En No." The tanto faded into a blue flame that spread down Kusari's arm and became a type of pincer shield. His arm was in a handle that felt rather loose. He squeezed it and the blades of the pincers opened, then he pulled it all the way back and the two blades crossed and settled in the back.
The blade locked in each of the three positions, but with another squeeze the blades whipped around to their starting position.
"I wanted to sleeeeep." Tsume said unenthusiastically.
"Tell me your powers!" Kusari said, motivated by the thought of having shikai.
"I only have one power, Cold fire, learn it yourself. After I sleep." The sword sealed itself and Kusari looked at it disappointed.
"Lazy b*****d." He left to finally get some sleep.
