 Another school day.. That was all Manami could think about as she walked slowly down the Linkton streets. She had no friends... Everyone ran from her and no one would listen to her. No one at the orphanage would even go near her except for her guardians. She sighed softly wondering if this would ever change. All she could do is keep a smile and hope for the best. She moved some of her blue hair out of her face and finally got to the school grounds. She looked around to people already starting to avoid her. Its going to be a very long day She thought as she just smiled and made her way to her class.
In class the teacher wouldn't even pick her when she knew the answer. Manami believed the teachers just passed her to get rid of her. Manami never though Linkton would discriminate against her so much just because her ears and tail were different from a normal fox's. Manami shook her head and quickly went to lunch. It was the same thing everyday. Manami didn't want lunch today, she decided to skip out this time. She instead went outside with a brush and a sketch book. She found a nice spot under a tree, alone and pulled out some paint out of her back pack, Slowly starting to paint with a smile. She ignored the girls who were whispering about her even though she could hear every single word thanks to her highly sensitive ears.

What day was it? Cieven had stopped counting days in the terms of hours. He counted the days by the abuse he recieved from though around him. He, in all honesty, felt a hole of despair at simply going to school because of the looks and words directed at him, or the silence that he always recieved from the teachers. It hurt him mentally becuase of the uneeded hate. He felt alone in the town of Linkton with no one around who would help him. He had no idea about the female a year older than himself that felt all he felt, and much more. At least Cieven had been used to this treatment from his own brothers and sisters. And even though he made it through the first part of the day unharmed, he knew what would be coming at lunch. It was the same everyday, and today was no different.
Cieven didn't eat, not after his first day at lunch. He would never agian take the chance of having to dea with all of that agian. It simply wasn't worth it, and so he headed outside. Cieven paused at the doors and looked about having no difficultly catching sight of a kitsune painting something with a smile, but he payed her no mind. There wasn't any point in him even trying to talk to her even though she was alone. He had given up on friends long ago and was willing to simply go with what life gave him at this point. Cieven should have known better than to think escaping outside would save him though for following a few steps behind him was a small group of mixed gender pointing at him and moving after him, even as he sat down at a bench. Cieven sighed as he closed his eyes and waited.
This time it was diffrent though, no words were spoken, instead as Cieven's eyes opened he was lifted off his seat by his jacket before being hit ruffly in the gut. With only a gasp for air, Cieven was thrown away with laughter bursting from the young man twice Cieven size. Quickly those around him joined in as Cieven coughed trying in some false hope to get some air. Before Cieven could even get his breathing back together, he was lifted into the air agian by his jacket by the young man. Cieven's fins were folded down showing pain and fear, though his face showed no such reaction. Cieven wasn't exactly sure what to expect at this point. Nothing seemed to be normal about today.
"Whats this?" Cieven opened his eyes as one of the four who had come with the young man moved forward and grabbed Cieven's necklace given to him by his mother. It was all he had left of her, but all he could give in response was a very weak whine before he was dropped and the necklace snapped at the back where the clapse for it was. Cieven hit the ground on his knees looking up at the two young men before his eyes stopped on the crystalish stone that had once had a blue hue to it, but that hue had dissapered as soon as it left Cieven's neck. "Give me that back!" At those words from Cieven, a kick was delivered into Cieven's gut sending him into a huddle position on the ground as he winced and tried to move. He simply couldn't anymore as his breathing was labored and small.

Manami was enjoying the peace and quiet as she painted. Her brush slowly slid across the paper. She lifted her brush and was about to dip it into more paint when she herd something unpleasant. Her ears twitched as she listened to the laughter and the punches. She could hear everything as if she was over there. Manami gripped her brush and gulped before slowly looking up to see what was happening. Manami dropped her brush and put her paper down she couldn't just sit and watch this.
Manami went onto her hands and knees and turned into her fox form. She growled a bit and soon dashed forward, leaping onto the guy with the necklace and knocking him to the ground. She pinned him and stood on top of him, barring her teeth and leaning down to show she will bite him. The other gasped and backed up. "Its Manami" They said as a few of them stepped back. Manami turned her head, glaring at each one of them before growling and snatching the necklace from the man with her mouth. She jumped off of him and he got up and ran off quickly with his friends.
Manami now turned her head to Cieven, slowly losing her anger. She kept the stone in her mouth and walked over to him, whining a bit and nudging his side then nudging his face. She tried to show him the necklace in her mouth.

Cieven gave up moving as he lay on the ground staring at the feet directly in front of him. There was no point in even trying to do anything now. Why had he tried so hard to start with? Maybe if he had just said nothing about the necklace they would have given it back, but now that was impossible. Cieven coughed as he attempted to slowly use his arm to push himself up onto his knees, but that didn't work so he simply looked up at the young man with his necklace. One secound he was there, and then the next secound he wasn't Cieven's reaction time was a bit slow so it made sense that he missed completly that the strange kitsune from earlier had actually came to his aid. Cieven noticed the laughing had stopped a moment later and slowly his eyes looked around. What was going on? And then he saw it, the strange fox holding the one with his necklace on the ground. Cieven coughed agian before shaking his head lightly. As he looked back up at the fox, he realized she had moved from the one with his necklace after taking the necklace and had advanced on Cieven. Cieven let out a soft sigh as he eyes slowly closed for the moment.
When Cieven opened his eyes agian the fox was there trying to get him to respond to her, but Cieven wasn't even sure responding was in his ability at that point. The kick had done some damage to Cieven's breathing as even now it was still pained and slight. Cieven looked up at the fox weakly before giving another attempt to push himself up. The movement sent a sharp wave of pain through his abdamen, but he managed to push hismelf up onto his knees with only minor winces of pain at the movements. Cieven turned his eyes back to the fox who had his necklace before putting his hand over his gut. The fox looked familier, but his brain was a big foggy from his troubled breathing. He reached out with his other hand though towards the fox as he watched her warily.
"Can I please... have that back?" Cieven asked between breaths. It was too hard for him to breath and talk at the same time so after saying that he remained silent as he awiated her response. For some reason he thought he knew the fox, like he had seen her recently. He actually had not yet placed two and two together that the strange fox before him was the same kitsune whom he had seen earlier painting.

Manami watched as the boy finally responded and tried to get up. She kept walking around him to look for a way to help him but she just decided to let him sit up on his own. Manami stood in front of him when he got to his knees, the necklace still in her mouth. Her eyes stared at his hand and her ears twitched to the sound of his voice. She slowly took a step forward and placed the necklace in his hand.
Once the necklace was out of her mouth she stepped back and closed her eyes, turning back to her half human form in front of him. She stood up and fixed her blue hair before kneeling down and holding out her hand with a soft smile. "Lets get you to the nurse" She told him as her crimson eyes watched him with a slight worried look.

Cieven was slow in reacting to his necklace being returned to him. As a matter of a fact, he stared at the stone in his hand for a good half a minute before even realizing it was there. Cieven slowly pulled the chain ends apart before looking at the clasp. It hadn't broken as Cieven had initially thought. The clasp had actually just fallen open and the chain had fallen from around his neck. Cieven tried to put it back on before giving up as his hands were shaking too much for him to ever hope to get it back together. Cieven finally gave up and simply closed his hand around it as he watched Manami flash back into a partially human form. Cieven watched her with a confused expression on his face before shaking his head as he realized what she had asked him. He wanted nothing to do with anyone in the school, absolutely nothing. For some reason he had a feeling that wasn't going to matter though.
"Ok, but why are you helping me and why do you care." There was a sound of him giving in already. It was painfully clear that Cieven couldn't have argued with her if he wanted too. He was simply going to have to go with whatever her plans were, even if she decided to not tell him her name or why she was helping him. His thinking was too fuzzy for him to even hope of arguing with her anyways.

Seeing that he didn't take her hand but agreed to go she put her hands on either side of him and helped him stand up. Her ears twitched a bit and she let him lean against her once he got up. "I always care... Just no one ever accepts it..." She told him as her eyes went to the ground for a few seconds then looked back over to him. "That's not important though, you need to rest up and heal." She told him as she started walking him to the infirmary.

Cieven winced lightly as he was picked up by the young female before leaning agianst her as he held his gut. It hurt of course, but he didn't say anything more than hold his gut. Cieven listened to what was said by the female before turning his head to look at her for a moment. He noticed she was looking down, but now that she was this close he realized who she was. She was the painter from earlier he had seen. Cieven didn't make her work hard though and instead he worked to help her get him to the infirmary. Cieven said nothing to her the walked into the school. It wasn't until they were inside completly and away from those outside that he finally chose to speak.
"I've been in this town for a good time now, and no one has cared. Why care when it's easier to hate?" Cieven wispered before sighing lightly. He hoped his words would not draw anger from the one helping him, but he could not be sure. If she did get angry Cieven figured the floor might be comfortable enough for him to get some rest after all, but this was only if Manami got angry for what he said.

Manami found it quiet as they walked into the school. Her ears twitched when Cieven spoke again. She turned to him a little surprised, continuing to help him to the infirmary."Why should I be like everyone else, when no one treats me like everyone else?" Manami answered his question with a question of her own.
Once they got to the infirmary she smiled and told the nurse there what had happened and that she was fine but Cieven just needed to rest for a while. They got Cieven onto a bed and Manami stayed by the bed side for a bit. "Would you like me to stay for a bit or leave?"She asked him politly

Cieven was actually surprised by the reply he received from the female helping him along. Cieven didn't really respond to her words as she helped him along, but the look in his eyes showed he was thinking about what she had said. What she had said was causing his mind to turn, trying to figure out exactly what she meant when she said that. It wasn't until she had him in the infirmary on a bed that Cieven actually focused on what was going on around him, and thus he turned his head to look at Manami with his light blue eyes. He did not say anything for a few secounds, even when she asked if he wanted her to stay or leave. Finally, Cieven seemed to have thought through what he wanted to say to her when he rubbed his head gently with his right hand.
"You're Manami, right? I heard them say your name when you helped me. I'd like it... if you stayed if you don't mind. I'm sorry, I didn't realize that you were treated diffrently from others..." Cieven grew silent for a moment as he took in a deep breath, wincing at his deep breath before letting out a soft sigh. "I haven't told you my name yet, have I? It's Cieven... Cieven Yaine." After saying that, Cieven closed his eyes and let his head lay back against the pillow so that his face was towards the ceiling. He was regulating his breathing trying to ease the pain away from it as he awaited Manami's response to his words.

Manami sat in a chair beside him and nodded when he asked her to stay. "No one really realizes how others are treated just by looking at them. So don't be sorry." She told him and smiled sweetly, her tail moving back and forth a bit quicker then before. She was happy to finally meet someone that wasn't scared of her or making fun of her because of her abnormal fox ears and tail.
"Its nice to meet you Cieven." She told him watched him laying down. She looked at him a little worried. "Do they do that to you on a daily basis?"

"I thought they could only hold hate, but then I found one..."
"You look... nice so I don't know why someone would be cruel to you. It doesn't make sense... or is it because..." Cieven grew silent as he realized why they would pick on Manami as well. He had seen only a few kitsune's in his entire life, but her ears were different. They had a unique shape to them, and as for her tail it was shorter than any kitsune tail he had seen before. Cieven had chosen this time to look over at Manami with a sad look to his eyes. He realized now that he was not alone, even though he had thought it to be so.
"Not on today's scale, no. They do bother me often though." Cieven said with a faint shrug. Slowly, even though he knew he shouldn't, Cieven sat up as he rubbed his just below his ribs. He was recovering of course, but that was to be expected. It wasn't as though they had stabbed him with something. "I'm sorry if my comment seemed weird. It was just an observation. Linkton is a strange village really. It is a bit racist compared to Iliquint, where I come from." Cieven said with a faint laugh, making light of the situation trying to change the mood a little bit.
