This thread is for general discussion about aquarium related topics.
Fish, booty grab, tank hints, decoration ideas etc.

Other discussion is welcome too but the intent is this thread will primarily be for discussing aquarium related stuff.

RULES:
The usual 'play nice' rules apply.
Follow Gaia TOS
No spamming, flaming, swearing, trolling etc.
I reserve the right to change the rules if simply telling people to play nice is not sufficient. smile

My question: your tank shows that you have 18 fish... I thought a full tank was 17 fish. Have they changed that?

It is a glitch.
You are correct, the maximum is 17. I got there by accident one day after moving fish around from Barrett's freezer. All 18 fish are really mine; it just should not have let me take the 18th fish out of the freezer. I have since seen others talk about this in the forums that it is a glitch that happens sometimes. I gather it is recent but I'm not sure.

Much of the time I am on laggy dial up internet.
What I THINK happened is I was taking fish out of the freezer and lost count but assumed when it wouldn't let me take any more out that was 17. In fact, I didn't even realize I had 18 until someone else pointed it out to me.

Probably the next time I move any fish around I will be back to 17. My other tanks have 17.

In short though you are correct on both counts.
Fish stuck in the freezer are supposed to freeze in time.
There is a glitch where at least some fish gain a whole lot more on their date of death than just a straight 1 to 1 ratio for in freezer time.

Don't rely on this for your tank resources though. I expect Gaia to fix this glitch sooner or later and they may do so retroactively. People relying heavily on this 'trick' my wake up to a tank of dead fish one morning.

Well, I have not owned wolfpups so I don't KNOW.
I tried to look up a bit of information for you and make some GUESSES.
You can look up some folks with wolf tanks and ask them their experiences or maybe some of them will see this and post here.

In the tank below 8 out of 13 wolfpups will glow on the next glow. That seems pretty good but I don't know what percentage of them glow on average.
Like many min-monsters they only live for 4 weeks so I would not put them in unless you already have high exposure on your tank. Otherwise they will die before you get your invites built up.

Wolves drop 4 green every 2 seconds so 4 x 2 x 30 = 240 gold during a 60 second game with no power up / power downs and a cap of 300.
Let's suppose on a tank of 17 of them that on average 10 glow. That is a guess. I'm not sure.
240 x 10 = max gold of 2400 per game. Absol's analyzer predicts users will on average get 25% of the max so let's assume 600 per player per game.

Average MP is 117k and current LMP is 127k
Let's assume you end up paying an average of 125k per wolf.
125k x 17 = 2,125,000
You have 28 days to get your money back
2,125,000 divided by 28 means you need to get 75,892 per day to break even.
75892 divided by 600 means you need about 128 people per day to play your tank.
Tank glows vary but let's assume your tank glows an average of 10 times per day.
So, you need 12.8 players per game on average.
Or, if you only glow 8 times per day you need an average of 16 players per day.
In the middle of the night not as many people will play your tank so you need some full games during the day to keep up the average.

So, I made a LOT of assumptions there. If I'm off on some of them it could tweak the numbers quite a bit.
I believe I could make wolfpups turn a profit for me but my main tanks are in about 215 booty grab threads and I get a lot of full games.

I hope that helps a little but feel free to insert your own assumptions into the formulas or ask folks with direct experience.

Yeah, I'm kind of confused by Gaia's priorities.
Fixing the freezer glitch, the ghost fish glitch and, in the case of dolphins, making red gold worth 4 gold as advertised instead of 5 would be three LEGITIMATE ways to reduce both the amount of HT fish in the system and the total gold they are introducing. Fixing those items would both help towards reducing inflation and encourage users to purchase more fish from the fish shop.

So now supposedly Dolphinmania is being disabled on Friday and according to rumor mill Gaia plans to keep nerfing booty grab until it is more or less undesirable to play.

At this point I'm just hoarding gold and taking a wait and see attitude.

I'm done purchasing Gaia Cash until Gaia stops treating its customers as disposable.

And for those so inclined please spare me the sermon about Gaia is allowed to do what they want and so on. My thoughts on all that regarding communication are in my communication thread currently in my signature.
