Have you named your pets or your children after your favorite characters in your favorite books? I have.
My Cat's I had in the last 4 years Mara Cat, from Raymond E. Feist. Kheldar baby, from Eddings Silk, from Eddings (belongs to my sister)
My dog's I have had in the Last 4 years Polgara puppy from Eddings Belgarath the dog from Eddings (garath)
The only ones I have left are my Polgara, she is now 4 years old, and my sister's Silk who is almost 2 years old.
I don't have any children as of yet, but perhaps one day I'll find suitable names from good books at that time.

Well, not from stories or authors, so to speak. But, The first litter of cats were named after Greek Gods. The second litter was named after the characters from the Broadway show CATS The third litter was named after planets.
My hamster was named Frodo. My three girl rats are named Reepicheep, Riki-Tiki-Tavi, and Nimh. My dogs (when I had them in different parts in life) were Bippes (3-13) And Kimba and Keeva (I had them only a year before they ate the kitchen floor and my mom made me get rid of them.)
Well, My rats and my former hamster were named from stories. ^_^''

got no children, got no pets.
I do have chillies (great comfort when one forgets to buy chillies from the market)... I haven't named them anything because they're in the brink of death (We forget them outside while winter was creeping in crying )
We have stuff toys from mexico... we have a cat which we named dog... sometimes we call it lippo (n**/Tuck)... and we have a dog we call cat (from that cat/dog cartoon) stressed

WELL!
We had a cat named Lessa, as in Lessa from the Dragon Rider series by Anne McCaffery(sp?).
Also, one of our current family cats is named Tasselhoff, as in the Kender from the dragon lance series ( I think - I have yet to read them).

Okay, my first Yorkie was named Snuffy, short for Mr. Snuffalufagus (sp??) from Sesame Street and my Yorkie now is Schmooder, after Melanie Schmooder (sp?) from Sweet Home Alabama. Uhhh.. my parakeets were named after the angels on Touched By an Angel: Tess, Monica and Andrew. And one of my chihuahuas is named Spunky and though many people ask, he is NOT named after Rocko's dog.

I have... my god [a Huski] is named Demian because of Hermann Hesse's Sublime character/book... and I have no children [and I hope to not have any at all, lol...] mmmm... my cat is named "Tikky", but not after Rikki-Tikki Tavi - partly I named her after Tiki [Polynesian Mythology].

We just got two Bata fish one male and one female. The red bata is male so we called him Barak and the female is rainbow colored and blends so well into the colored marbles and things we have a hard time finding her, so we named her Lessile. (yes we are Eddings fans )

One of my turtle's name was Misao, from Rurouni Kenshin, because she's very energetic and she always finds a way to hide from us and return back to the same spot we first left her in.

Well, I had a dog that we had to give away that I had named Simba (ya know, "Lion King"). Now, I have a cat that I named Artemis, specifically after the cat on Sailor Moon (not the Greek goddess) and a cat named Rei-Rei after Rei (Sailor Mars) from Sailor Moon.
