For a non-wifi league that a few friends and I are working on.

I'm thinking about going for the Ground type.
I have a few more prospects for this setup than I need, with Sandstorm being a primary use to the set.

Swampert: Stealth Rock lead
Dugtrio: lol revenge killer
Hippowdon: To setup Sandstorm
Flygon: Still not sure what to do here yet. Maybe a Choice set.
Gliscor: A somewhat defensive set
Nidoking: Mixed Attacker?

This is my first monotype setup before so I'm pretty sure there are plenty of flaws to be pointed out. I'd just like a few opinions here and there on what pokes I could possibly use as replacements in certain spots.

[[Also this is one of my first notable posts here, so hi. xD]]

Hello! Nice to see other competitive battlers here. : )

I can't really give too much of a critique on it without movesets, but usually for a lead you might want to set up a pokemon that can use the sand stream ability, although it's is not absolutely needed. I have personally never used a sandstorm team, but that seems to be a common trend within that battle style.

Likewise!

As far as movesets I can give you a general idea on what I might be doing with them. I've got plenty of time before they have to be prepared so my sets may change drastically or not.
Swampert: Leftovers
Stealth Rock
Protect
Surf
Ice Beam

Dugtrio: Choice Scarf
Sucker Punch
Stone Edge
Earthquake
Aerial Ace

Hippowdon: Leftovers
Curse
Ice Fang
Slack Off
Earthquake

Flygon: Life Orb
Flamethrower or Fire Blast
Outrage / Draco Meteor
Roost
U-Turn

Gliscor:
Nidoking:

I'm not too sure about the next two.
Before you mention it, I already realize that this is a very VERY physical team, from what I could tell I couldn't find a decent special attacker or defender for that matter among the ground types. Nidoking has the ability to be a special attacker, but not for much. Marowak as I can remember is a pseudo dragon and can learn the tri elemental attacks, but it's sp.atk stat is just too low. Sandstorm gives ground types a sp.def boost, am I right in saying so?

If you need a special sweeper, what about Lucario? I can attest that they make very nice specials, and even mixed. Are you going for every team member being part Ground/Rock? Or just immune to Sandstorm?

Also, Gliscor would make a nice wall.

Lucario would fit very well, however I'm going for every type to be at least of the Ground variety since it's somewhat of a monotype gym idea.

What would you consider a good wall set for Gliscor to be?
Obviously Roost will tie into that moveset, but I could really think of anything else that'd be too extremely useful. Toxic stall maybe?

Any thoughts on any ground type special attackers?
The only one I could think of was Camerupt. :

I love Gliscor. That guy can take hits extremely well. Not to mention he looks like a badass scorpion from the depths of hell.

I used the standard:

Fangs (Nickname)@ Leftovers
Impish/Sand Veil
252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe

EQ
Aerial Ace
Roost
Stealthrock

Very overused, but for a reason. EQ & AA for STAB, Roost gives back half of HP, and Stealth Rock for extra switch in damage. I've heard Sand Veil works wonders in a SS team, but I have yet to test this myself.

Like I said earlier, I am far from an expert on sandstorm or monotype teams though. xD I want to do a dark or ice monotype too. haha, this thread just might have inspired me to make one.

Haha, glad I inspired someone. xD

I'm gonna run Hippowdon for sure because of Sand Veil.
Do you think that I should run Gliscor as a SR lead?
I mean I do have Swampert there for that.

Swampert still makes a great lead, but if you want something that can get off an Stealth Rock most of the time (rather than Swampert's some of the time) there's Aerodactyl. It's a glass canon and more suited as a suicide lead, but it can get Stealth Rock off first like nobody's business. Swampert, however, is more geared to stay around a little while, so I suppose it all depends on what, exactly, you want to do.

As for a special sweeper, Camerupt's gonna be your best bet. It's SA is only 105, but Rock+Ground aren't exactly known for having a great SA.

Anyway, Bulba's set-up for Gliscor is a great idea, but if you run that, I'd keep him a wall; Maybe replace SR for something else (Stone Edge/Knock-Off are popular choices), since your lead'll have it instead. You could also make him a stall-breaker with Taunt, but I suppose that would only be if you plan on going up against a stall team.

Well I appreciate the suggestion for a possible SR user, but Aerodactyl is a Rock Flying, thus not usable in my monotype.
As far as Camerupt goes for my Sp.Attacker, do you have any suggestions aside from the ones I've seen on Smogon?

That's a good idea though, I may just use that Gliscor idea with Knock off.
Hm...that Dugtrio set...does anyone think I should go with a Band instead of a scarf? Looking over it now, Dugtrio is usually really fast.

If you can get trio with 31 speed IVs, I think you are right, band might be best. His attack is below average, but his speed is very high. I guess having three brains amplifies speed?

Lol, that'll be something I work toward then.
I still want to know what they look like under the ground.

I'd use Garchomp for the team, but it's an Uber, plus I have Flygon for that.
