HUMAN: KADE REED

User Image
Name: Kade Reed
Nickname(s): None
Gender: Male

Birthday: January 10th
Age: Eighteen Years

Patrol: White Shadow
Rank: Apprentice (Patron: Anastasia Delarose)

Appearance: Kade Reed, standing at a height of 5’8”, has a lithe, yet slightly muscular build and light-skinned complexion. His eyes are a dull, grayish-blue, and are covered slightly by his unmanaged, short silver-blue hair, which darken at the tip of his bangs. A childish smile is often plastered on his face, making him seem younger than he really is, and he’s usually never seen without his uniform on.

Voice: Calm and cheerful, but often tinged with fear when he’s with his Patron.

Personality: Kade is generally a good-natured person. He’s kind and gentle, slow to anger, hard to insult, and tries to be understanding to his peers. He can be childish at times, too, and enjoys making jokes, often making a fool of himself just to cheer others up. Despite that, he can be cold towards those he considers enemies, and ruthless to anyone who harms the ones he cares for. Another of his features is his drive. It had been his goal since he was a child to be a Wolfrider, and now that he’s become one, he’ll do his best to complete the work assigned to him to the best of his abilities. Of course, despite that, he’s prone to shirk his duties if prompted by his Bonded (rarely) or his best friend, but only if he thinks he can get away with it, or make up for the work later.

History: Kade Reed was born into a small family of farmers, who lived near the outskirts of the City. Despite the many hours he spent under the sun as he grew, his skin was hard to tan, and made him stick out like a sore thumb. Due to his bloodline of hard-working agriculturalists and laborers, he remained physically fit, even if he went without work for long periods of time. He loved his family, and enjoyed helping out, especially with the few animals they had around the place. But of course, he was young, and still a child, with childish desires, and sometimes he had dropped his responsibilities to go off and play. During one of those times, he had clambered onto a tree, fists clenched and held high as he assumed what he thought was a heroic pose. But he was too heavy, or the tree too weak, for the branch he was standing on broke with a sickening crack. The drop probably would have been fatal, if there hadn’t been a child underneath to cushion the fall.

Of course, the child, whom he later discovered was called Jace Kinsley, wasn’t too happy about the fact. But as time passed on, the two became the best of friends, and despite the fact that Jace lived in the City, they visited each other often, causing mayhem with their many adventures.

He was content with his life, but ever since he was old enough to comprehend words, he had heard tales of Wolfriders, and what they did to defend the City and all of its inhabitants. He had always dreamed of becoming one, and was often found staring wistfully in the direction of the forts. So, at the age of fifteen, when he discovered his friend was being sent to the Academy, he followed, after a long and heavyhearted farewell to his family and the acquaintances he had made. But they knew it was what Kade had always wanted, and they wished him well.

Once at the Academy, he was soon reunited with Jace, and they were constantly together, whether it was for study or entertainment or simply for the sake of each other’s company. Even fate seemed to smile at them, for they had bonded on the same day, with wolves who were related to one another, and sent together to the same Fort, White Shadow, where they continue to strengthen their friendship.

WOLF: STORMCALL

User Image

Name: StormCall
Nickname(s): Storm(y) (She dislikes it greatly when anyone other than Kade calls her this.)
Gender: Female

Birthday: AL210 November
Age: Three Months

Patrol: White Shadow
Rank: Adolescent

Appearance: StormCall has cold blue eyes and a pelt similar to that of a Siamese cat, with varying tones of tan and rosy brown making up the majority of her soft coat. Her ear tufts, throat, stomach, and inner legs are white, while her ears and tail are a dark gray, almost black, with legs that are tipped with the same shade.

Voice: Raspy, yet still feminine.

Personality: StormCall is still a young wolf, having only recently stepped out of her parent’s den and into the Forts. As a result, she’s extremely curious about the world, but stubborn, too, and quick to contradict others, especially her Bonded, Kade. Nevertheless, she seems to regard him highly, and is extremely possessive of him, directing her anger towards any who go against him (unless, of course, she agrees with said person). With his help, she is slowly learning the English language, but often reverts back to communicating with gestures and vocals, especially when she is distressed. She can be shy, too, and usually stays close to her Bonded’s heels, pressing against his legs for moral support when frightened.

History: StormCall was the first-born of her litter, and one of the largest, too. With her pelt of black, brown, and white, and her penetrating blue gaze, she resembled her mother the most, and was usually close to her because of this. She was mainly an observer as she grew, preferring to watch her siblings play (if that was what it could be called. Her brother, the second oldest, was almost always dominating them, and because of this, she occasionally play-fought with him) from the sidelines than the join in, or follow her parents around, although she was never allowed far from the den.

Out of all of her siblings, her brother, the second-oldest, was the one she was closest with, although they argued often. They had even left the den at the same time when the Recruits were lined up before them, while their other siblings cowered, or took a more wary approach. She would have liked to watched her siblings, and have seen who they bonded with, but as soon as she stepped paw outside of the den, there was a faint tug in her mind, and she followed it, glancing at some of the humans she had passed, but for the most part ignoring them until she reached one with blue eyes like her own. He seemed distracted, watching another pair, and feeling a tad insulted, she had purposefully brushed her mind against his own, and was satisfied to hear him start in surprise. But the feeling was soon replaced with wonder and curiosity, and she delved deeper into his mind, completing the bond. She had been so excited (after all, bonding was what she had expected to do since birth, and now it had been done) she had forgotten her previous anger towards him, and had ran towards his open arms, her tail waving furiously as he pressed his forehead against hers and gave her the name that was hers, and hers alone: StormCall.

[01/16/10] Won the Siamese. Posted the form for Kade Reed.
[01/10/10] Entered the Naturals Flatsale in the Opening Event.

Winning Entry:
Kade Reed nervously ran a hand through his short silver hair, smoothing it, as he followed the Drill Sergeant through the large, thick walls bordering the Academy, and into the grassy field. He mentally reprimanded himself when he realized what he had done – it wasn’t as if a wolf bonded with you based on how you look – but he couldn’t help it. He was anxious, and had even gotten up early that day (something that was almost unheard of) to prepare. Extra attention was given to even the most trivial of tasks, as if that alone would raise his chances to bond. Even if he knew that appearance meant almost nothing when a bond was formed, looking nice had never hurt.

He was eighteen, nearing nineteen, but often acted like a child when he could get away with it, which was why he had been surprised when the Drill Sergeant had chosen him to be among those to go to the caves. He was often lazy, too, but ambitious when it came to wolves. He had longed for one ever since he could remember, and had always hoped to be able to ride one, to protect those he loved and cared for in the City. He had been in the Academy for only three years, and had never been to the caves before. He was both excited and fearful of them, even more so when he looked around at his peers: some heading there for the first time like him, and others who had been there before, but had been unable to bond. He took strength from their familiar faces, reassured to know that even if he was unable to bond with a wolf that day, there were others who would, and that they had worked just as hard as he had for it.

Soon, the grassy field became rocky terrain, and he looked up to see the caves. They headed towards a specific cave, the one that held the awaiting adolescents, and Kade was almost shaking, although whether it was from excitement or nervousness, he couldn’t tell. It was dark inside, and no matter how hard he stared as the Sergeant lined up the recruits (he near the back, because of his age), he could make out nothing, except a few shifting shadows which could have been his own imagination. Soon, though, the wolves appeared, and he was shocked, to say the least.

The wolves weren’t similar in appearance, for one thing. The only wolves that looked even remotely related were the ones with stripes, but that was it. He had expected them all to look alike (they were supposed to be from the same litter, after all), not… different.

The second thing to have surprised him was their size, even at their young age. He had been given measurements, told what to expect, and had even seen other riders from afar. But talking about something was different than actually experiencing it.

But he was only bewildered, not disappointed, and, in any case, there wasn’t much time to dwell on those thoughts. The wolves had started to move, to sniff out their bonds, and his full attention was on them. They scattered, going off wherever they pleased, looking so vulnerable with their searching gaze that he had to marvel at how they grew to be such skilled fighters. One of them, an adolescent with deep, dull gold eyes and a coat of reddish-brown and white, approached his general direction, and he stared at it hopefully. But nothing happened. It completely ignored him, and trotted over to a female, much to her delight, and the sight of the newly bonded pair brought a soft smile to his lips. They seemed so ecstatic, and even though the two had just met, it seemed they had been best friends since birth from the way they acted.

He had been so distracted watching the pair that when he first felt the brush of another’s consciousness against his mind, he cried out in surprise, and felt his cheeks burn as a few pairs of eyes turned towards him. But the embarrassment was soon forgotten when he spotted the tan-pelted adolescent nearby, and again he felt the consciousness, but it was more forceful this time. It penetrated his mind, and he could feel it – no, her – looking at his memories, feeling his emotions, just as much as he felt hers, and feel the sudden understanding that came along with it. The consciousness didn’t feel like an intruder at all. It was as if it belonged, and he knew at that moment – as his smile widened, as she ran towards him, as they embraced – that they had made a bond.

Kade. Kade Reed,’ she thought to him, testing out his name and subtly hinting at a desire for her own.

He stroked her fur and hugged her tighter, delighted to know the first words she had ever thought to another human being was his own name, and he chose to do the same. He wanted her to have a name that suited her, and he recalled how, moments before, he had been thrilled to feel the bond, as unexpected as it was, and to hear her call his name with the raspy, yet still feminine, thought-voice she had. And soon, he had a name. He looked at her fondly, and pressed his forehead to hers. ‘StormCall.
