Vogue moved through the forest, a thin dusting of snow crunching lightly beneath her paws.
She could hear the cacophony of Metropolis in the distance, the sounds of humans and their metal moving machines. She had gone into the city once recently, and that once was enough to hear from the tribeless urban foxes that the Syndicate might be disbanded. Her future tribe was no more.
Vogue paced through the trees, wondering if she should have applied before she was ready. Before her future tribe had disbanded.
Her mind was racing as she paced, poring over her decisions she now regretted.

Shaezelle lay high in a tree on the edge of a city. Metropolis, she heard it was called. She had never been to a city and never so close humans. They were such amazing creatures. It was fun simply watching them from where she was perched. Their paths were somehow paved over with flat stones, rather than being made of dirt. They mostly moved around in giant, rolling machines. One thing that amazed her the most was the small... mountain that the humans seemed to enter and exit through a large, flat plank of wood.
She jumped down from the tree, wanting a better look. She didn't think the humans would mind much. Still, Shaezelle was too nervous to enter directly, and instead began circling the town. The commotion of the city mixed with a new, closer noise. This was more familiar, and the scent that accompanied was definately from a fox. Curious, Shaezelle moved toward the noise, peeking around a few trees to see who was causing it.
Before her was a blue and purple vixen, trotting back and forth through the thin layer of snow. Shaezelle found that she enjoyed watching the contrasting colors on the other fox just as much as she liked watching the humans go about their day. Shaezelle moved out from behind the tree, assuming that the other fox had already caught her scent. "Hello, there," Shaezelle decided to begin. She was never the best at interacting with others.

The voice of a vixen caught Vogue's ear. She had noticed the scent some time before, but had not realized the other was so near. The presence of the city overwhelmed the senses, so that the sensing of other foxes was a difficult subject.
"Hello," Vogue voiced in reply. A slight smile slipped across her lips, as she circled the vixen of countless colors, who was covered in patterns like Vogue had never before seen.
"I am Vogue, and who might you be?" The smile had spread, from slight, to sly, to now perhaps even seductive.
Vixens were where Vogue's interests lay, especially beautiful ones, as the one before her.

Shaezelle watched curiously as the vixen seemed to prowl around her. She wasn't sure whether or not this was a normal thing for most focxes to do. Needless to say she hadn't encountered many others.
"My name's Shaezelle," she replied, nodding her colorfully decorated head in the vixen's direction. Unsurprisingly, she didn't notice the tone behind Vogue's smile. "It's nice to meet you," she continued. "What were you doing just outside the city? Have you ever been in it?" Shaezelle felt bad, bombarding the girl with so many questions. "It's just that I've been watching the humans recently..." She added, trailing off as she sat in the snow. She tore her eyes away from Vogue for a moment to stare in the direction of Metropolis.

A curious fox, although queer, who seemed unaware of the meaning behind Vogue's actions. Most intriguing.
"I've been in the city before, but the humans are of little interest to me."
Vogue would let the girl wonder about her intentions, draw her in with hinted-at questions. She knew it was naughty to play with naive vixens, but that's what Vogue was. Naughty.

"Really?" Shaezelle said. She was excited that this fox had been into the city. She didn't really understand the vixen's attitude towards the humans, though. "You don't find them fascinating at all?"
"I was on my way into the city," she informed Vogue. "I didn't really want to go alone, since I had never been there..."
Shaezelle trailed off, unsure what Vogue's reaction would be. They had just met, after all. She didn't want to be thought of as rude or strange or anything. Then again, she wasn't even sure if Vogue would interpret that as an invitation.

She smiled wider. An invitation into the city, with the colorful charming vixen? Most excellent.
"Maybe I could show you some of the city," a smirk that showed teeth, "m'lady."
She lead the lady toward the city, which quickly came into sight in the east. She knew the noise could overwhelm, and watched the vixen for signs of succumbing to the sounds.
"Follow my lead," Vogue commanded, demanding obedience from Shaezelle. She vixen was new here, and unknowing in the ways of the city and the humans.
She halted at a road, watched the humans ride by in their machines of metal. She knew she must wait for the light to change color, to the cool green that announced it was safe to cross.

Somewhere in the back of her mind, Shaezelle knew Vogue's smirk should have worried her slightly. She wasn't thinking of that too much, though. She was too happy following the vixen toward the city. She followed closely behind Vogue, paying more attention to what she was passing rather than where she was going. They walked alongside the large building and humans walking around on foot. She was inwardly glad they weren't walking too close to those metalllic monsters on the roads. They both fascinated and scared Shaezelle. She jumped when she first heard one of the machines bellow angrily at the others.
Vouge's command brought Shaezelle back into focus, and she stopped just before running into the other vixen. "Sorry," she said, grinning sheepishly. "What are we waiting here for? And what are those things the humans are riding around? Why do they make that loud noise?" Shaezelle had many more questions, but didn't want to overwhelm Vogue.

"We're waiting," began, as the light changed from red to green, "for that." She led Shaezelle across the street, paying to mind to the humans who stared. Perhaps they were surprised at the two vixens in their midst. So long as they didn't bother her, Vogue didn't care.
"Those things," said Vogue, gesturing to the many monstrosities of the road, "are cars. They let humans move fast. That loud noise is how they talk when they're inside the cars."
Vogue knew a little of the human's usual tongue, but the language of the cars was a cipher she could not begin to crack.

"Ooh." Shaezelle found herself a little too amused by the changing light, and everything else in the human city. She crossed the street behind Vogue, listening to her answer about the cars.
She was about to ask how they were made, but was distracted as she noticed that all the buildings where getting taller. They no longer looked liked the houses that surrounded the city. The one nearest had a wall that was almost completely see-through. It was a relatively small building, and the people inside were walking through pathways looking through large brown shelves, or sitting in couches with something in their laps. They were staring intently at them.
"What are they doing in that building?" She asked Vogue, indicating at the library.

"They look at those things," a pause, while she tried to recall the name of the objects, "those books. Sometimes they take them out for a bit, then bring them back later: they are only allowed to borrow the books, because they are too important for any one human to be allowed to keep.
"The books are the most important way in which humans communicate," Vogue concluded. They had to be, if they were so important they couldn't be kept.

"Books," Shaezelle repeated thoughtfully. She decided she liked them. The idea of them, anyways. If they were understandable, she's sure she would like them. She walked faster, catching up with Vogue rather than following behind her. Shaezelle seemed to gain confidence as her curiousity grew.
They continued walking around, the buildings still growing bigger and the crowds of humans growing accordingly. "So what brought you to the city before, Vogue?" Shaezelle asked after a silence. She felt bad for constantly asking questions. "And how did you learn so much about humans?" She had said that she wasn't too interested in a humans, after all. Why did she bother sticking around them?

Vogue hesitated to tell Shaezelle. While she enjoyed her time with the vixen in more ways than one, everything between them had been light hearted and playful. They were two strangers, after all. Then, to tell Shaezelle this thing that had hurt her heart and left her so lost...no, that was a secret Vogue would keep for herself.
"When I was younger I lived in the Sanguine Metropolis, and so learned about the humans in order to survive living among them."
And not even a lie, at that. But not the truth, either. Let Shaezelle make of that what she would.

Shaezelle glanced at Vogue as she listened to her answer. It was a fairly simple one, but answered her questions well enough. She was still curious of the other vixen's past, but didn't want to push the subject at the moment. They had only barely met, after all. So she accepted the answer with a small nod and a smile.
"So what don't you know about humans and city-life, exactly?" Shaezelle asked. She had felt a little bad, bombarding Vogue with questions. "It must be a shorter list than just answering all of my questions as they come to mind. Although I'll probably still end up asking you..." She trailed off, the afterthought more to herself than to Vogue.

Vogue grinned, a great big toothy grin.
"Come with me and see yourself how little I have left to learn."
Where was the fun in divulging all her secrets at once? No, she would string the vixen along with mysteries; whet her appetite and stretch out her hunger, deliver the main course only when the vixen could stand the hunger no longer, when she begged Vogue for satisfaction, then Vogue would deliver.((Quote is so hopefully notifications will tell you you have a tag for me~))
