Ok, I went to a weight watchers meeting with a family member. Well I am considered not a great enough weight to go myself, so I decided I would go with my family member to get motivation. I do not NEED to lose weight, but I want to in the hips. Well a girl was sitting next to me talking about how she hated skinny women sad Well, she looks in my direction and glares... I am not exactly skinny. I am not fat either, but my hips make me not stick thin. crying seriously. I mean, just because someone manages to lose weight does not make them glaring material.

lol wtf
that sucks but unfortunately, both sides of the spectrum and in between are always going to have similar experiences some bitter or insecure person will always be there to break you down you'll do good by not taking it personally and just moving on with your life
personally, i don't "hate" anyone. i am fat, but i don't hate those fatter or skinnier than myself.
i envy girls with nice metabolisms, but i am happy for them and all. and i feel bad for girls who gain excessive weight, but i don't have a problem with them.
some people are just silly.

That's upsetting, it's possible that the person who scorned you has suffered scorn from a person who is 'skinny'. That doesn't make it right, or less hurtful though.
Body image politics make victims and persecutors of us all, and it pits us against each other by developing a warped internal hierarchy in our heads that can affect how we feel towards ourselves and others. It's tragic, and being aware of it is the first step to creating an environment where it can be done away with.
I find myself envious of people that don't have to struggle the way I do. Be that because they are comfortable with their weight at whatever weight they are, or because they have fallen into naturally good eating/exercise habits. I do not, however, hate them. I try fairly hard not to hate or hold anyone in contempt, as it comes easily to me and that's not very healthy.

I kind of understand where they are coming from. Its possible that those meetings are one of the few palces they feel they are with like minded people, people who understand what theyre going through and arent going to judge them like a thinner person might, and therefore they might have seen you as a bit of an intrusion on their kinda safe place. Thats not to say that they should have spoken like that or glared at you, or that you shouldnt go or have less of a right to go or anything. Just that it could be that rather than you personally

I do understand where they were coming from. It is a hard thing to struggle with, I was overweight at one point.

Lady Kayura So do you want to be stick thin? >_>; Curves make a woman sexy. I find the 'curvs is alwez bettur' approach to be a little insulting. There are many body types for women and there are some women who's bodies do not look good with curves, the same way other women don't look good being too thin. As long as her goal isn't going to harm her and she's achieving it in a healthy way, it shouldn't matter.

I have an hourglass figure, but would be much happier being flat as a board with a boyish body. Curves =/= Attractive, necessarily.

My really thin friend used to tell me she envied my curves. She would not have looked good witht them though. She is naturally thin, but she was seventy five pounds at five foot seven. She always tried to eat so she could gain.

That's horrifying and if I didn't know a guy who was around 90 lbs and can't gain weight I'd be sorely tempted to disbelieve. It's upsetting when we can't have the bodies we want, at least we can change our bodies to be as healthy as we can be and lose weight at the same time.

I agree. I used to be overweight and it was so hard excercising and going up stairs with all the excess weight. It is hard to get healthy when your body does not coperate at first.
