PAST LIFE, YO.

Europa is the fourth-largest moon of Jupiter, and sixth nearest to the planet. In its heyday, it was a center for culture and learning and one of the largest metropolises in the Jovian system. It is a somewhat plain world, and if not for the rust-colored shallow canyons that sweep its icy surface would be almost entirely featureless. Surface vegetation is limited to hardy lichens in the equatorial regions, and is non-existant in higher latitudes - Europa's wealth is in its ocean. Beneath the ice was a complex and thriving ecosystem based around deep sea vents. Crustaceans, fish, and even large mammal-like creatures all made their home in the sea.

Architecture on Europa is done in the art nouveau style - having very little natural embellishment, they make it themselves. There are lots of arches, teal and orange glasses, and domes. While wood is sometimes used for interior elements on Europa, it is infrequent to find it on exterior surfaces - it isn't durable enough to withstand the climate unless heavily treated first.

They tend to build with the shape of the land, lying low in canyons to be protected from icy winds on the moon's surface, or else contouring themselves to have a minimum amount of wind resistance. Most buildings are anchored a few meters into the ice, and some actually protrude all the way through and into the ocean below. Many a Europan noble could once be heard to boast about having an "underwater room" in their home.

Because of this construction style and the nature of Europan tectonics, many buildings are either perfectly preserved, buried partially in ice, or else simply gone, quietly rusting at the bottom of the ocean.

Historic Europa was one of the largest exporters of ice and water in the middle solar system. Ice was traded for raw materials such as metal and glass that could be fashioned into building material or art.

The planet was governed by a democracy. Every citizen over the age of sixteen was entitled to vote in general elections, and those over the age of twenty-five could run for public office. Within this system, Sailor Europa was the only position that was not elected, but their role in government was not as powerful as on some other planets. The senshi's primary role was as ambassador to other worlds, and during times of war could ask the senate to grant them power to amass a military, which the scout would lead.

Sailor Europa's proper (and default) title in the moon's government was "Captain." Upon awakening, each new incarnation of the senshi, who was perhaps no more than thirteen or fourteen at the time, would be whisked off to the capital for training - in politics, history, art, combat, mathematics, and sciences. The expectation was that Sailor Europa would be able to hold his or her own in any conversation and represent all the values the moon stood for.

Despite its day-to-day independence, historic Europa held itself as a sovereign state under the power of the royal house of Jupiter. It seemed like a natural arrangement - citizens of the moon needed only to look up at the sky to remember whose power they were under.

Study time can still happen, I'm just not sure when. Tallulah seems to do a lot of studying, so we'd have to come up with something interesting for them to do.

Watery fun would be wonderful! I've got to warn you that Europa's attack doesn't actually, um, involve water... Just pressure, but it'll still be cool. And they can fight a youma and maybe we can get it on camera. She's handed some of that off to Alex but she's still recording some.

What about a water youma? At the pool or something?

The other thing is that Tallulah REALLY REALLY cannot hurt animals, and I have an urge to make her fight a youma that is ridiculous and, like, made of rabbits, but of course not on her own because she will cower in a corner and cry. Does this interest you any?
