Anyone else think they should make a Pokemon MMO? It would be a lot like the DS games but it would have all the regions (including Orange Isles) and you could pick which one you started at. Then you'd basically go on your Poke adventure but you'd run into other trainers a lot out in the wild. The Champion and Elite 4 of each region would and heck maybe even the gym leaders would be actual players instead of AI. Was just a random thought I had but I thought it would be really cool xD Anyone else wish there was a Pokemon MMO?

I think Pokemon Rumble is a step in the right direction of a live-action style Pokemon game. Now if only we could make those Pokemon not be toys and slap some trainers on there to run around and encounter stuff and bam, we'd be set. pirate

Nintendo could do this maybe with wifi. But like justice said it would be really tough to put together. Probably more than nintendo is willing to do.

Especially because of the vast age span of pokemon players. It would be very difficult to make a relevant game for all age groups. The other issue is that powerful players and beginner players would have the same gym leaders, unless gyms were weighted npcs.

eh, i played that and a few others, but none of them really have the professional quality that comes with a studio. i mean, the sound is usually missing, the music isnt very uniform, the interface is usually difficult, and its as laggy as FFXI, if not worse. that isnt a full list either.

While its great to know people are trying to make something that could be awesome, I think its unnecessary. pokemon is a very social game already, and really doesnt need to become one.

i think its fully possible to make an MMO with the gym leaders, the regional teams (Rocket, Galactic, ect), and a wide audience base (its a POKEMON MMO for crying out loud), but I doubt Nintendo or Game Freak are even interested in a full game. The amount of time and resources it would take initially is a lot, but it would require constant attention with patches, versions, and moderating. I think Game Freak would be too small to work on its pokemon games and its MMOs, so they would probably have to pass on thier rights to another developer. The amount of monentary strain on Nintendo would be huge, so they would have to be 100% positive they would be able to support it.

No question that they could do it, but I think they could stick with the game itself, and that would work fine.

you know how you cant step where an NPC is in pokemon? Well they wouldnt want you standing on another player right? So youll be stuck until the other player moves. Even if they have 100 servers thell be millions in one sever and 5000 in a town in that server

AKA It would lag and be flooded.....

It's an awesome idea, however, I don't know if they'll do it. The main problem I see with it is that a Pokemon MMO would be breaking the Pokemon "formula." The way I see it is that each Pokemon game follows generally the same pattern. You begin your quest in search of capturing all the Pokemon while at the same time you try to become the Pokemon champion. While on this journey you get tangled up in the affairs of a criminal organization bent on taking over the world. Sure, they have come out with games that break the pattern, such as Pokemon Ranger and the Mystery Dungeon games. It's entirely possible that they would come out with a Pokemon MMO, and I for one would welcome it with open arms. However, I'm not going to hold my breath.

well what if it was 3d and the pokemon wandered around and you had to click on them to go into battle with them at which point others cannot enter battle with them

or that if anyone could catch it at any time, though newer players would then hate older players

They do need an official MMO though >.>

Here's the most important question, though.. Would it be free-to-play or pay-to-play? I really doubt it would be an issue, I mean.. Look at WoW. Still though, the idea has been on my mind for a VERY long time. I just.. Doubt they will.

I think it'd be awesome to be able to run through the wide open fields of tall grass in a full 3D world. @.@ heart
