If you see no good reason to be a Christian, then maybe you shouldn't be one...

You shouldn't have to try to force yourself to believe something that doesn't sit right with you.

If you are asking because you are still hurt, I sympathize for you. Regardless of your situation I don't think most people will tell you how to believe here. In terms of a hypothetical situation you are asking for us to refute a negative (it would've been that way if the former was the intention anyway, but I see no point in trying to kick people when they're down). That can't be done. It just can't. I say if you don't believe that way you don't believe that way. There are plenty of non-Christians who live fulfilling lives.

Ben, may I pm you? I think this sounds like some stuff that may need to be addressed concerning your personal life.
ADD: by "hypothetical question" I mean something that was speculative, a "let's say this happened" type of question.

Have you considered counselling? It could be really helpful

I could try, but I doubt me convincing you would do any good. xp PS:Sorry about your parents. I wish I could help.

I've heard that but I thought it applied to doing something like saying, 'God if you love me prove it by letting me have a snow day tomorrow', not asking Him whether He's real or not. I thought we're supposed to ask for answers, even in challenge form?

I never really had any reason to believe in god. With a crack-addict mom, a dad that I haven't seen since my birth, a grand-mother that recently died (And the only person I really felt truly loved me), A brother that takes advantage of everyone he sees, and just in general a horrible life, I think that it is quite fair that I don't believe in him, considering that everyone else in my family does, and they don't get s**t for it. I've never seen anything that proves him, and I've always felt like there was a hole in my heart that was only partially filled by a belief in God, I turned away. And many things in The Bible I disagree with.

He's supposed to answer sooner or later.
