Oh so this should be a fun one. And BE NICE! I was wondering where your morlas come from and what morals you might have. My morals came from my mom. She was the one who raised the kids and I am very much like her. And I am proud.
So I really don't think I can make a list of my morals cause it would probably take an entire page. So just to name a few;
1) My life motto is Semper Fidelis. If you need to ask, then go find a Latin to English online translator...
1.5) I will never be with anyone who is in any sort of relationship with another person. Doesn't matter if they are only boyfriend and girlfriend who are having troubles, no.
2) Sex is between you and your loved one. No more needed.
3) Animals are friends. You are messed up if you abuse humans, even more so if you abuse animals.
4) Get a goddamn job, you hobo! I do not give out money or rides to those who are perfectly fine and capable of working. (I dunno if that's a moral or more of a life rule) ((But aren't morals life rules???))
So let's share and discuss. I know my fidelity morla is religious, but I have never been all that religious, so it definitly comes from my mom and life lessons.

My morals are from the Bible, and also kinda from my mom. Basically no drugs, alchohol, sex outside marriage, swearing, getting angry over trivial things, putting garbage in my head....etc. Some things I fail with (like the anger thing) but I'm working on it. Oh and for the poll you could do something like 'Morally I'm...a goody two shoes, no worse then anyone else, downright sinful, etc.

I'm not sure where they came from, just kinda happened. The only concrete ones I follow are the Five Buddhist Precepts.
Do not lie. Do not kill. (Anything! That includes animals and insects.) Do not steal. Do not consume intoxicants of the mind. (Then you mess up without meaning to.) Do not commit sexual misconduct.

I don't have too many strong morals, but I do try to respect other people and animals. I'm also not sure where my morals came from, but they just sorta developed.
Basically: Don't inflict harm on others (physical and emotional) In the case of accidental harm, do everything you can for that person Support anyone important to you to the best of your abilities Always respect your elders Always respect pretty much everyone (just be polite) Do the best you can to be a good person

Absolute morality is stupid. For example, killing can be good, lying can be good, etc. Also, if it doesn't hurt anyone (but you), go for it. A simple rule book on morals is stupid. Morals are complex, and they depend on the situation. Even the most basic "bible morals" are really inadequate. Thou shall not kill? Doesn't apply in every case. And none of the 10 commandments (excluding the first half, which are just about worshipping god) apply in every case.

I think you missed the point of this Artto. This was to share morals. I'm getting a vibe you only have one, and that goes something like "Whatever is best for me".
I've never really read too much about Buddist anything. I have not read the bible. I'm not really interested in it because the people who do contradict each other so badly. I think all the books have gotten messed up in the years of translating and retranslating.
Shaman is interesting. I've never met anyone who is an actual Shaman. I don't know much about it either =^_^=

My morals come from myself and my own experiences since I don't have a religion to guide me.
-Don't ever take another human life unless you need to. I think that if it is to save yourself or someone else, it is justified. But never in, say, revenge. Not that I picture myself being in a situation where that would apply.
-Treat people with respect. I only respect people who in my eyes really deserve it, but I try to treat everyone with respect.
-Do things like being kind or helping someone or giving because they are the right things to do. Not in hopes of getting something back or getting praise.
-Be open and respectful to new/unfamiliar ideas.

I don't really have a strict set of morals; there're exceptions to everything. For example, normally I would never eat meat, but if I was starving to death and the only thing around was a steak, I might make an exception. Other than that, I would normally never kill anything or cause the death of anything, cheat on anyone, or be outright cruel to anyone. Also, I try to be as charitable as my circumstances will allow. As far as rules about sex outside of marriage, drinking/smoking, lying, cursing, and such, I don't exactly care.
I can't think of anyone who taught me my sense of morality. I just kind of made it up as I went along.

Aakosir I think you missed the point of this Artto. This was to share morals. I'm getting a vibe you only have one, and that goes something like "Whatever is best for me". Nope, you totally missed the point. I'm just saying I don't have any absolute morals. You have to think about what's right or wrong depending on the situation. Lying to nazis about hiding jews in your attic is a very common example, which shows how flawed moral absolutism is. Or killing someone to defend an innocent. And so on. Also I never understood how something that doesn't hurt anyone, could be immoral, for example homosexuality.

i rejected the teachings of my parents but came to my set of morals through mentors, and through some spiritual reading in early christianity, the Upanishads, and later Christian writers like Kierkegaard and Tolstoy.
i feel that life is precious and should not be wasted, either our own or anyone else's.
respect people, at least until they absolutely use up all their right to it (thinking now of some sadistic child murderers; sorry, i am not THAT forgiving)
promises are serious and should be kept; you should not have to swear an oath to make your promise binding.
life is not only precious, but it is difficult. so cut people a break. remember, when you point your finger, four fingers are pointing back at you.
if something bothers you, pray about it and let it go.
use what you have been given to use, as well as you can. if you have a strong body, do what weak people cannot. if you have a strong mind, put it to productive use.
find one thing every day for which to give thanks.
Kant was right; live your life in such a way that if everybody did what you do, the world would be fine.

Artto Also I never understood how something that doesn't hurt anyone, could be immoral, for example homosexuality. In Judaism, and by extension Christianity and Islam, sex is seen as the power of creation. Thus when a couple engages in sex they are invoking the creative powers of their god. So when sexuality is expressed without the intent of creating life it is seen as wasted effort, or some will say a blasphemy against god since one is evoking his power and not using it or wasting it. Personally I don't agree with this stance since I don't see sexual acts as "sins" per se but it's the only explanation that has made sense to me thus far.

I would kill to protect a loved one.
The whole "Homosexuals can't get married because I said so" is just absolutely rediculous. You don't see these people making love. You might see them holding hands and sharing a quick peck, but like you said, it's not hurting them... The government is just trying to rule our lives.
In Maryland, I think Baltimore, there is a new law that if you are under 18 you cannot tan in a tanning bed. I somewhat agree with this, but then they will just burn themselves in the sun... The government is becomming a menace. I don't think I have any government pertaining morals...

I'll admit before I discuss my own morals that I don't make a huge show out of them, so I'll keep it short, sweet and to the point.
1.) *commenting from the first post* I believe open relationships and consentual polyamory is okay and I could never condemn it. I might be open to allowing a girl in as in sex-related, but never for relationship. 2.) No heavy drugs and alcohol for me, but weed is alternatively fine yet I would never smoke it like a Pothead. lol 3.) Do not go murdering people or judging others based on appearance. 4.) Sometimes a little white lie can be shared when it comes to the family, as in sometimes the mom or dad or grandparents can be quite difficult to get along with and make it harder for the child to be able to either talk with them or unleash their protective grip on the child's life. 5.) I am against animal abuse myself and would prefer slaughterhouses to be exchanged for using needles to put animals to sleep then off them or use gas instead of just brutally killing them for mass-food production. 6.) I am for rehabilitation in prisons for people who need it because the system right now is failing them. And I believe people being imprisoned for drugs is wasting time with our tax money and we should stop doing that entirely. (if you want to know why I think this, message me) 7.)A committed relationship is your business aka don't force others to do the same. Love is different for everyone. And when love ends, divorce comes into play. That's how it is. 8.)It takes 4 months for a baby inside the womb to feel pain, so stop assuming cells and barely a fetus at the time can to. Since you are no scientist, you cannot assume it's already a baby, because looking at fetal development...first term isn't horrific.
