Are there too many contests about Christmas and the holidays?
I don't think I've seen one about New Year's, have you?
In this contest, I want short stories only! Poetry and lyrics are nice and all, but I feel stories are much more fun to write.
Now, the stories should be about either New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. Sounds like it'll be cheesy, right? Wrong. Twists, unique plots, odd characters, or anything else along those lines are highly recommended.
I only have a few simple rules, so they are expected to be followed.
⊲No plagiarism. Good writers always write their own work. Steal something and I'm not even going to bother rating it.
⊲Minimum of 1,000 words. Maximum of 10,000 words. I won't flip out about one more or one less, but it'll take me forever to read and chose a winner if everyone writes a novel.
⊲The deadline is January 24th. Entries sent after that date cannot be accepted. On that day is fine, but I start reading them on the 25th.
⊲PM YOUR STORIES TO ME! Please do not post them here so I know you didn't copy someone else. Post here before you send them so I get an idea of how many people are entering and how long it may take me to judge.
⊲Only enter one story. If you want to replace your previous one, then speak with me, but have a good reason.
⊲Prizes, everyone's favorite part of contests.
-1st Place = 10,000 gold

-3rd Place = 5,000 gold
Honorable Mentions (One - Three) = 3,000 gold
