Cavalier :: Cavalier Mortalitas of the Cavern

Name :: Caven Chevalier

Nicknames :: Ven

Age :: 25-ish

Birthday :: December 24th

Sign :: Capricorn

Blood Type :: A

Fav. Food :: Steaks, hot dogs, and various other meat related main dishes. He is also a very noted lover of cheap-o fast food ever since joining the force.

Hated Food :: Too much chocolate makes him sick, and he tends to avoid any food he himself cooks like the plague. Consider that a very blunt warning if you want him to make you dinner any time soon.

Occupation :: Police officer, newly transferred to Destiny City

Hobbies ::

  • Shoot 'em up! ~ A big fan of shooting galleries, Ven can often be found blasting through the paper targets with one of his beloved Smith&Wesson Sigmas. Due to his family's long history and involvement in public defense - police officers, fire fighters, military, etc. - he spent a great deal of time watching his relatives fire off on privately owned outdoors ranges, quickly coming to attribute shooting ranges (and then galleries as he got older) to relaxing, fun times with loved ones.

    Once he hit 18, he and his father and two of his uncles began having weekly meets at a family friend's gallery, catching up and sharing news before taking their silence and thoughts and firing off, then going back to a lounge and getting right back to the smiles and chatter - the older men always used the excuse that it was needed practice for the aspiring cop when confronted by their wives why they spent so much time out there. Caven just grinned and said it was fun. Now in Destiny City, he still has his family meet, though it's been dropped down to once every two weeks. Not wanting to lose his destresser, he still tries to go at least once a week - two or three if work is going slow. This doesn't happen too much due to all the messed up "terrorists" and "pranks" going on, but hey. He can catch a lucky break sometimes!

  • Pump that steel! ~ Call it a routine and standard he set for himself just before and while in the academy. Caven had to be in shape, work out and keep himself in prime condition. Money was always tight, and now living on his own, it's no different. So he had - rather, has - a nice tendency to go cheap and buy a lot of fast food for his meals. That's not a good idea for someone trying to stay in shape. His solution? Use the money he saved on food and buy a gym membership! Why he doesn't just buy healthier food could be attributed to the fact that, to be oh so blunt, Caven can't cook worth a crap unless someone is barking orders at him from start to finish. Instead, he runs on the treadmill and track, does countless push-ups and sit-ups, lifts weights... and finds it rather enjoyable, actually. Not as relaxing as firing off at the shooting gallery, but he won't deny the sense of pride and accomplishment he feels when he has to add more weight onto the machine.

Gemstone :: Blue Topaz

Virtues ::

  • Dedicated ~ A dedicated cop - how... kind of cliche, really. But it's true. Give Caven a task, an assignment, a project, a meeting he must attend - whatever! - and you can bet your bottom dollar it'll be done as fast as he can physically can. Doesn't matter how challenging it is, he'll push through the obstacles however he can - be it by his own power, or being smart and knowing when it's time to ask for help, it will be done! And he'll be damned if someone keeps him from doing so. He won't tolerate thugs on his rounds, very much following into that "protect the peace" standard in his job description.

    As a Cavalier, he carries this devotion to a similar level, though this time to finding and protecting his prince along with the Senshi and general public. He has his priorities of course, able to leave the "never break a law ever" persona he grew up under in favor of a much more proficient one that understands that, due the magnitude of this war against the Negaverse versus city laws, potentially breaking laws is acceptable. If he didn't, then he wouldn't be able to fight efficiently, worrying about property damage and the fact that, should he win, he would most likely have to kill his opponent. Which, to the rest of the world, is still classed as murder. Pros and cons of seeing the world in such a black and white state - if fighting for his Prince means he must kill, he will do so without a moment's hesitation.

  • Observant ~ Is he super human and able to spot every. Little. Single. Detail. Of. Doom? Yeah. No. He totally wishes he could though. No, he's just smart when it comes to keeping an eye on suspects when questioning them, noting facial expressions, how twitchy a perp is when the subject of the victim's missing ex is.... Y'know, basic stuff. Yeah, if he goes into a a friend's apartment one time, then returns a second, he'll be able to point out nine out of ten changes, a nice little accuracy rate when making sure something in a crime scene hasn't been tampered with, or if you wanna show off to your best friend/ex-girlfriend's new hookup that your memory skills are so much better than theirs. In an affectionate way, of course. <3

    Not to say that he's an ace detective yet, as he still falls into the patrol cop category until he gets a promotion, but he has no problem helping out a lead detective on a case he's been assigned to if Caven realizes the guy in charge has missed something he might have picked up on.

    Now, Caven's no psychology buff. He can't look at a person and all their mannerisms and say "Oh so and so's acting like this because they ARE GUILTY," but rather taking mannerisms at face value and applying that with when the mannerisms happen to result in a conclusion that can or cannot be correct. His observation skills mainly apply to inanimate objects and surveying the scene around him. That tree looks oddly fake. Oh hey. It looks more like a person's bad disguise and is not a tree I bet! How accurate he is at that... well, he's more successful than most? At least he doesn't need glasses. His observation skills with people in his day-to-day life outside of the job still runs with only gut feelings and rough conclusions after watching, again, things like facial expressions (does the brow crinkle? eyes darting around? smile kind of not-so-sincere looking?) and body language. He's got sharp eyes, but how he translates things doesn't always work out too well when it comes to people.

  • Optimistic ~ A natural disaster's just happened. A shootout has just taken place. What's his reaction? Sorrow yes, remorse yes... but hey, things could be worse, right? People lived through the disaster, so time to rebuild and learn from structural mistakes! The shootout was horrible, but hey! We got our perp! Everyone's safe again! Time to take the situation and learn from it to prevent something bad like this from happening again, that's all.

    Very few things in life can keep him down for long, quick to bounce back from tragedy with a "the glass is half FULL and can be filled THE REST OF THE WAY~! 8D" view. Even in daily life, rarely can he be found without a smile of some variety for long, grinning and laughing and shooting the breeze with a stranger without a sense of hesitation. It's not just that life can't get him down, it's that he won't let it. Too many horrible things happen every freaking day - he's a COP, he sees the proof of this! - but being all emo about it won't solve anyone's problems. He keeps his chin up and his smile on because honestly, there's always a silver lining somewhere out there. Just gotta work a little to find it sometimes, that's all. BUT IT IS TOTALLY OUT THERE.

Flaws ::

  • Critical ~ While Caven is a very happy-go-lucky guy, he's a far cry from a perfect saint. His temper is a rare thing, usually he reverts into a very serious, sometimes even frightening, state when it's srs bsns time as a cop and out comes the really deep voice and shouting orders that might burst your ear drums if you stand too close to him. Cavalier version also tends to utilize this a lot, not at all one to deal with slackers when there's Negaverse to fight, a Prince to find, and some Senshi to help out. His low tolerance for slackers also extends into allied faction ranks as it is, and if he sees someone, anyone, Cavalier or Senshi or guardian cat or whatever, he very quickly shows his distaste for them and their ways.

    That's where critical jumps in. His first opinion of you better be a good one, since really... he's kind of judgmental. Not to say you can't prove you're actually a good person to him, but till you do, he'll be a serious jack a** to you.

  • Protective ~ Oh a knight in shinning armor! Who has... a few issues with what must be done to protect someone, it seems. Will letting you go on your way hurt you? Yeah... you're staying right where he can see you then. Caven is far from the type to let his friends just deal with their problems themselves. Even if it's a good "learning experience," if it means the person could be physically or mentally hurt, he'll do whatever he can to make the bad situation vanish. Now he won't resort to violence himself... but that's not to say he won't turn a convenient blind eye when someone else takes care of the problem instead. If it meant protecting those he cares for, he'd make that deal with the devil.

  • Selective Black and White ~ Either you're right or you're wrong, good or bad. There's no "gray" to him. There is no bending the rules. You follow the orders you're given and that's that. While as a cop, this is can be a good thing - he never questions his superiors, does his work diligently and thoroughly, and won't put up with crap dished out to him by his peers if it's against protocol. He is very much the kind of guy who would put everything on the line if it meant taking down a dirty cop and making sure the proper upper authorities became aware of, and appropriately responded to, the ill acts. On the other hand? If you steal, you're guilty and are going to jail. Even if you were poor and needed the food, he won't accept it. It's not to say he won't feel a bit of guilt doing it, but he'll just as quickly retort that you should have gone to a soup kitchen or shelter. The victim of the theft is willing to forgive it? Oh, that's nice. But the thief's still heading downtown and following proper protocol.

    ...or at least, that's how it is unless he realizes gain for (what he sees as) the greater good is in order if he lets things... "slip." A friend is being bullied? He'll do all he can legally to make it stop, but if that doesn't work... well, he won't do anything illegal about it, that's for sure. But who is he to say if, after he rants to an old acquaintance in frustration about the situation, that old buddy uses some of his connections and an "accident" was to befall this bully? Oh, so sad! Too bad. He has long since developed a sense of while following the laws is a must... sometimes, for the greater good... a few... changes need to be made.

    In case it wasn't guessed by now, he's a full supporter of laws like the Patriot's Act.

Physical Description ::

Hair ~ Blonde, it's very... very spiky. Wild, unruly, a mess... spiky! It can be anywhere from the classic anime spike of Roxas and Cloud to a more realistic Yuri from Shadow Hearts II. Just so long as that lovely golden color is kept and the general spiky them is there, I'm fine with whatever.

Eyes ~ A simple pale gray, though if possible, could that gray fall under a blue-gray? =o

Face ~ Square jaw, youthful yet still holding that edge of maturity that comes with age and at least some experience.

Body ~ A very nice and tall 6'3," he is very much that traditional "tall, muscular hunk" girls like to read about in those romance novels. Not to say he's a muscle bound thug, but working out and regiments set by family and personal standards has given him a figure to whistle at during the summer.

Fashion ~ If he had the funding for it, he'd have no problem walking around in designer jeans, sweaters, scarfs, boots, high-end leather jackets... but he can't afford it (he lives in an apartment that's mid-middle class at best, which is where majority of his cash goes if they're not tied up in emergency funds or his savings account in the bank for when he [someday] moves out). So he's more than fine with walking around in work boots, basic jeans, patterned shirts and his lone, and rather worn out, leather jacket. He doesn't have a real eye for fashion per say, but he likes earthy tones and cool colors well enough to just stick with them and avoid female friends telling him his shirt clashes with his shoes or something annoying like that.

Challenge :: "By my blade, your world shall cave in around you..."

Weapon :: A sword of the European variety, themes like Excalibur and other spiffed up versions of the classic sword variety. On the hilt, a design of some sort would link into (or morph into?) the symbol of Saturn.

Plug-In :: Idk, my bff Jill? -unless this needs to be decided immediately, through Rp is currently how I figure he'd find his true partner.

Uniform :: PURPLE -description to come?-
PostPosted: Fri Dec 11, 2009 1:42 am

Why a Cavalier?

It honestly... was just always part of his character to be a defender type of character. In other versions where the character originated from, he was an actual knight - full suit of armor included. For a modern version, he was a cop. Both keep the character in his constant need to protect someone, to be a guard, a defender, and know what he was doing was always for the greater good of all. While running off and getting yourself killed isn't a good way to make sure you're able to protect people, he knows that every day he puts his life on the line and he's... pretty okay with that, so long as in the process he's made at least one other life all the safer because of it.

As a Cavalier, he would be able to keep to this age old role of his, following the orders presented to him and fiddling around with these new... skills? The concept of plugging-in would be a strange one to him, though not something he'd bulk against. In fact, depending on who the Senshi is, he could easily form a protective-big-brother relationship with them while not in uniform, using his adult status to dish out cash if they ever needed it, and most likely conveniently making rounds near wherever they like hanging out now and then while on the clock as an officer.

Belonging to a unit like the Cavaliers wouldn't be a huge "AND NOW EVERYTHING IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT IN HIS LIFE" sort of thing for him. Yeah there'll be some nice big changes for him - oh hai magicalness and memories of a past life~ - but he'd have no immense issues listening to Kunzite's orders, or spending time with his new found companions... assuming they want to spend time together, anyways. He would have a time trying to figure out how to balance being a cop and being a Cavalier due to being on call really however long that boss/Captain wants him to be, since he has been called back in once or twice while off the clock, but he'd like to believe the double life wouldn't be killer.

Why Mortalitas?

Well first and foremost - the irony. Charonite and Caven Chevalier are on complete opposite sides of spectrum - the General-King smokes and is generally a big/mean/scary man hellbent on ensuring his Queen rules everything (AW~<3). Caven ensures he's in tip-top shape without any remote health problems (how're those smokers' lungs treating you, Gunn baby? <3), walks around with a friendly smile on his face and typically treats everyone he meets with the utmost kindness and respect... never mind the fact he's waving around "PRO-ENDYMION" and "PRO-LUNARS" signs like a cheerleader would pompoms.

To have a COP have the memories of Moralitas, the now feared Charonite, would be... perhaps the most evilly laughable thing I could think of for this character, never mind the kind of connections and development it would mean for him.

He would remember his time with the other Cavaliers, the betrayal towards the Prince and fighting in the name of Beryl - his guilt would be obvious for a while as he tries to settle the memories of now two entirely different lives. But after living for a quarter of a century as Caven, the smiling, laughing youth... it wouldn't be in him to allow himself to remain in that kind of state for very long. Potential connections and other points not yet known about the character aside, Ven would take the hand dealt to him, pick up his knew found sword ("....CAPTAIN, CAN I TRAIN WITH YOU? GUN SKILLS =/= SWORD SKILLS >X>;;;;;;;"), realize his past mistakes, and simply do all he can to repent in this new life. Heck, he might even start considering his choice of career a subconscious way at starting that repenting early. And since that would bring that grin of his to a blindingly joyous state, he most likely will once the though occurs.

What does "Death" mean to him?

For him, it has two main definitions: the traditional end of a life, and... the ending of one to allow for the beginning of another. Ever the optimist, he follows the saying "When one door closes, another one opens," when it comes to the subject of death. The fact that he would be Mortalitas reborn would do nothing but solidify this belief in his mind. He did horrible things in his past life, but with that death, those ways ended. He was given a new life, a new shot at redemption, and he sure as hell won't waste it.

-might add more/alter a bit-

What does "Cavern" mean to him?

    n.
  • A large cave.
  • A large underground chamber, as in a cave.

    tr.v.
  • To enclose in or as if in a cavern.
  • To hollow out.

Cave
    n.
  • A hollow or natural passage under or into the earth, especially one with an opening to the surface.
  • A storage cellar, especially for wine. (What? He's over 21...)

A cavern is a giant cave underground, and a cave is a structure (natural or non) with an opening somewhere on the surface. Most caves are generally big and dark and there've been a few freaky horror movies about being lost in them. In the darkness. And being attacked by creepy things with giant eyes and equally giant fangs. Caves and caverns also tend to have very uneven, rugged, rocky terrain within them. Going through one is no easy task, full of obstacles high and low, twisting passages, huge drops, pools of creepy dark water you just know there's something lurking around in just waiting for you to take a dip... in sort, they're freaky places!

So how would he connect to someone who's element is a creepy dark place of horrors and doom? Once again, trust him to find a light in the darkness somehow! This time, literally.

A cave system, a cavern, is something he sees as a set of trials. You have to not only face your fears while going through there, but the forces of nature as well. Wild life, water (eroding everything around you little by little while also making the rocks a hell of a lot more slippery and dangerous), potential cave ins... there's a lot to face to make sure to get out of there. But you can and will, because eventually that cavern's gotta connect back to the surface, and the darkness will fall away to the light once more, and you'll be outta there.

A slightly more sinister connection, however, would be a bit of the reverse. There can be some beautiful things in the caves, like ones of giant crystals, glow worms making everything look like the night sky, and other simply breathtaking features that make you risk the dangers to see them. But the caverns and caves are still dangerous. Caven is a good guy, but he still lives his life by his gut. First impressions matter with him, following the laws still mater to him... unless he realizes it's "better for all" if you use loopholes or conveniently turn a blind eye to things if it means to protect someone more efficiently. He still has his morals and ethics, but beyond the pretty crystal smiles and good-guy nature that makes everything seem wonderful and great like worms using bacteria to make the ceiling look like a starry sky... there are still dangers when dealing with a man who'll do whatever it takes to make sure his mission is completed.

This is just extra stuff that I couldn't figure how to link into his form currently, but thought would be interesting to know about the character~

More can and most likely will be randomly added when I think of something else to throw in x'3;; <3

Crack!Theme Song :: United We Stand

View on Romantic Relationships :: As nice as having someone there for you to count on, someone who's just yours... as of yet, he hasn't found that one special person he feels he connects with a hundred percent. He's an attractive guy, so yeah, it hasn't been especially difficult to walk in a bar and pick up a nice lady to take back to his apartment. In fact, majority of his adult female friends around his age he first dated after meeting at parties or bars or other such usual hang outs. But unlike most men he knows, once it's clear the relationship just isn't working out... he approaches it civilly with the woman, and usually finds that after calmly talking about it with her, instead of a girlfriend, he now has a girl who is just a good friend of his. Something he is more than fine with. His optimistic way of talking about continuing contact after breaking up, giving them plenty of space to breath and consider it on their own, tends to make for a good further impression and apparently a good enough reason for them to agree with just keeping a close friendship instead.

One woman in particular, a certain April Marley, has proven especially beneficial. April is a manager in a high class store in the city, one whom Caven makes a point to visit when he has the time. Though the two keep their relationship strictly good friends only, neither will deny benefits in the past after their initial break up. Even now, with a copy of her condo key on his keyring, Caven will just walk on into her home without much warning (so long as she doesn't currently have a new boy toy, that is), neither seeming to care if he sees her in next to nothing at all. Both use the other as a good source to rant to when there's problems in their lives, or as a nice companion to go see a movie with or go out to get a bite to eat (on her tab, that is). April also is Caven's main source of fashion grief should his shirt not match his shoes. If anything he's wearing clashes, she will very much make sure he is aware of this and not stop until he fixes it.

Living Arrangements :: Currently, he resides in a moderate apartment on his own - a one-bedroom, one-bathroom, kitchen/dining-room, and living room mix that holds some hints of a bachelor's place. None of the furniture is especially ritzy, though does at least seem to keep to blues, greens, browns, and cream colors. The place is kept relatively clean, with the kitchen getting minimal use beyond the microwave and oven for reheating instant meals or leftovers from eating out. Bathroom isn't a horror story, though his room has seen better days. Laundry is generally kept around the laundry bags, clean or non, but at least he remembers which bags need to be taken to the laundry mat, and which ones he just got back from with.

Favorite Music :: Metal (he's not a huge fan of screamers, but they're alright sometimes), pop, and techno tend to play a lot from his car, though CDs of folk (Loreena McKennitt, Jethro Tull, etc.) can be found in his apartment.

Least Favorite Music :: Actually... he doesn't really have one. He might not always love what's playing, but if someone just has to listen to rap or country music in the car with him, he'll just shrug and let them play with the radio until their music is blaring around him. Caven will generally listen to anything, but still has his preferences sure. If nothing he loves is on then well... just let the alright stuff play till the good stuff's back on!

Edited his flaws/virtues a little bit, added in a random stuff post that has nothing to do with the main form, and finally decided on a Cavalier for him x'D <3

He's now fully open for critique and marking~ owo <3

Dude, I'm sorry, this is going to be kind of blunt, but I personally feel that the way your character is set up right now, Mortalitas really really is not the cavalier you should be gunning for. D: I understand that getting the cav that was once Charonite is shiny and awesome, but... honestly, there are better ways to go about it.

Your concept is kind of missing the point. If you want your character to receive the soul of an old cavalier or shittenou, they have to have personality traits in common with the old character for it to work and make sense -- look at Kunzite, for example, and Miriam and Kunzite's individual character profiles. They have a lot in common, and in RP the character very smoothly transitions between Miriam and Kunzite.

You cannot completely disregard Charonite's personality in a concept for Mortalitas; that just makes them not a good candidate for his soul, destroys part of the point of receiving said soul in the first place, and also, in my opinion, it makes things not nearly as fun. It's actually a little offputting that you essentially plan for your character to briefly regard Charonite's memories and then basically shove them aside if you get him. If you don't plan to make Charonite's past life very relevant to your character's development at all besides a brief period of feeling bad about it, why are you questing for Mortalitas in the first place?

I would really, seriously recommend you look up a cavalier sphere more suitable for your character's personality if you want one, or do some serious reworking if you're this set on Mortalitas. ;_; I know you've put a lot of thought into this guy but it just doesn't seem like a good fit at this point. Gonna say, I really love the honesty in all that =3

You really gave me a few things to think about - I really DO love the concept of Mortalitas, and thought I had pulled a few things from Charonite... but yeah. They got lost pretty fast under all the sunshine and smiles Caven's got @.@;;;;;;;;;

I'm gonna go read Charonite and Kunzite's profiles again, take a step back, and figure out if I wanna alter this character, or make a new one. I'd originally had the concept to send this character to the Senshi before the Cavaliers came out... though with the age limit, seems I've got a LOT to consider with him x'D;;;

Thanks though Mouse, I seriously appreciate all that <3
