Sparkio padded through the woods to the field that had been used as neutral territory to more than one inter-tribe dispute over the years, ears pricked forward for any sign of the female Elder.
It was his first real action as new Elder of the Bamboo Tribe, but Sparkio wasn't as nervous as he thought he would be. It really was just a misunderstanding (sort of) at the least, and at worst it was argument that had gotten out of hand. Definitely not something worth starting a war over.
He hoped. Shaking his great head to clear it, Sparkio sat down and wrapped his tail around his feet, looking around, sharp eyes piercing the shadows: she was a white fox, which was even worse that being a red fox when it came to hiding.
From all he'd heard about her, she was more...shall we say, level-headed than some others, which would hopefully come in handy in this particular discussion. Hopefully.
Glancing up at the sky, he said an internal, unofficial prayer to the Modeities: Please let this go well. My Tribe cannot afford war. Please.
This meeting needed to go well, so it would. It had to.

Black paws padded along through a dense wood. She knew her destination: a feild not far from the Bamboo Tribe territory. She would meet the tribe's new elder her, Sparks or something of the sort. He was red and black, that much she knew, along with the fact that he had not had the job of Elder much longer than she had. It comforted the black and white vixen a bit. She was indeed nervous about this meeting. She didn't know his personality quite as well as she would have liked. She prayed that he was a sensible fox... 'Well, of course he would be. The dear 'Deities picked him, did they not?' She thought to herself... Then again, the 'dear 'Deities' did pick out some foolish leaders in the past. Konton hoped this Sparky character was not one of those.
She didn't know why she was so nervous. Perhaps it was because this was her first confrontation with an Elder as an Elder herself. She wasn't too used to this new form and job yet, and she didn't really know what to expect from the Bamboo Tribe's new Elder. Hopefully they could come to an understanding about what happened in the past, even though it was Akuma's fault. Konton could see why Akuma detested the Bamboo Tribe so much for kicking her out, but Akuma was the sort of rebellious vixen to get herself into that sort of trouble to begin with. Konton smiled inwardly with the thought.
She emerged from the treeline, coming to a halt before the valley that stretched out before her, scanning it carefully. It was a beautiful place, the long blades of grass the perfect shade of green swaying with the gentle breeze. Her gaze rested on a black and red fox up ahead. He was fairly large, far too large for your average fox. Konton assumed that this was Sparkles... 'Sparkles is definitely not his name...' she thought, blushing from the fact that she even thought that was his name. She calmed herself within seconds, drawing in a deep breath of the clean air and exhaling it with a heavy sigh before sauntering towards him.
"Greetings," she said with a bow of her head as she came within a yard or so of the other Elder. "I'm Konton, new Elder of the Akatsuki Tribe."

Sparkio saw her as she scanned the field, but he made no move until she started walking towards him: he stood, letting his tail uncurl from his feet. She was white, as he knew, with black accents just like him. Her ears were pierced and he saw bars across her ankles and tail, just like his. Maybe they weren't so different.
Shaking away that thought (mostly because the little 'angelic' voice in his head told him not to judge a Fox by her appearance), Sparkio studied her more closely as she walked toward him. Konton looked firm, but not angry or upset, and maybe even a little nervous...Just like Sparkio was sure he did. Maybe they really weren't so different. Wait, was that the hint of a blush on her cheeks? Sparkio had been around vixens long enough to know that if they were blushing-
Cutting off that thought train immediately, he cleared his throat. "Hello," Sparkio returned, bowing his head slightly in greeting. "It is my pleasure to meet you, Konton. I am Sparkio, new Elder of the Bamboo Tribe." He fell silent for another moment, racking his brain for what to say. "I wish we could have met under better circumstances," He said after a moment or two, offering the tiniest smile as his tail fwished behind him.
"Thank you for coming: these things are always better settled between Elders than tribemembers alone, are they not? We wouldn't be here if they were." Sparkio let out a soft chuckle, then shook his head slightly to clear it. "Apologies. May I ask, what are your thoughts on the situation?"
Time to shut up now, Sparkio.

'Sparkio... I'm going to have to remember that...' Konton smiled back at him. "The pleasure is all mine, Sparkio," she replied with a flick of her long tail. She scanned him over, noticing that he was almost just as nervous as she was, simply trying to put up a facade to camoflague the fact that they were both somewhat anxious. They were both juvenile Elders, for they both had not been on the job for long, and they were both trying to act like they had. She shifted her gaze to her paws, shifting her weight on them, moving them ever so slightly, making her bangles jingle softly. She let out a soft sigh, redirecting her gaze back to Sparkio. She took note of the fact of the fact that they had awfully similar modifications. It was just something to comfort her at the moment, for that fact wasn't really of much importance. "Some wishes cannot be granted, unfortunately."
Oh, but she did wish they had met at a different, more auspicious time. After all, she was still abnormally thin from that horrid famine her tribe had suffered. She was no longer emaciated, but still thin enough to be considered slightly concerning. She was somewhat embarrased by it and hoped that Sparkio didn't think that it was her doing that caused her to become so thin. She was not an Elder and she still had the other tribe members' needs before her own even then. She didn't feel her best, either, still wondering what her mate, Pete, would think of this change, and what she might have to do for the sake of her tribe. She never saw him anymore, and it pained her greatly. She was considering leaving him, though she knew it was going to be an arduous thing to do... Her mind was drifting too far from the current problem that needed solving, and she snapped back to reality.
She chuckled lightly at Sparkio's next comment. "Indeed they are. Tribe members need someone to lead... Although, we are -every Elder is- far from perfect," she replied with a slight shrug of her shoulders. She pressed her lips together, thinking how to respond to that question. "I honestly don't know. It's been so long that the issue was something that I didn't really consider to be all too concerning for so long... I think Akuma still holds a horrid grudge against the Bamboo Tribe, but, eh, I know how she is. That girl can hold a grude till the end of time itself, even in death," she stated with a sigh. "And as for Kyoufu... I don't know him that well, so I really can't say anything." She looked up into his eyes with her red ones, black pinwheel-shaped pupils spinning slowly. "And you? What are your views?"

Females were conscientious about their weight. It was just a given fact - and there was hardly ever a 'right' answer or comment about it, other than 'you look great, honey'. So, Sparkio did notice her weight - or lack thereof, but he did not comment, and he did not stare. He was surprised to learn that, in fact, he felt bad for her: she looked like she'd been severely underfed for whoknewhowlong and was just starting to get back to normal. Hmm.
"My views are that, like you, it was all in the past, but our Tribes hadn't ever really had an...well, an 'official', if you want to use that word, meeting about the matter. I just wanted to make sure there were no illwishes toward my Tribe, because there are certainly none towards yours." He offered a smile then and relaxed for the first time since entering the clearing.
"May I ask a personal question?" Oh, here we go. He inwardly kicked himself as soon as the words were out of his mouth, but he couldn't help it. "Is...How is your Tribe fairing?" He asked hesitantly, picking his words carefully. That shouldn't get him into too much trouble, just a kind, concerned question...Right?

Konton nodded. "We never have had a formal meeting about it," she agreed with a wave of her tail. "I personally do not bear any spite towards the Bamboo Tribe, nor do the members of my tribe aside from Akuma. Alas, I haven't seen that vixen around in what seems to be a lifetime after what happened..." She looked deep into his eyes. "You are aware of the entire issue between your member Dorchet, the 'Daeva, and Akuma, correct? The fact that they somehow someway had a litter of two 'Daevas and a normal fox?" She asked. "I don't know what happened, but I know they aren't exactly friends... So it remains a mystery to me," she explained. "I also don't know if that will be an issue for our tribes as well, although I know that their kids don't really have much intention of joining either of our tribes," she added with a shrug. "Whatever the case may be, I know Akuma bears some loathing of that as well, so I don't know how long it will take for her to move on." Konton let out a light chuckle. "It amazes me how many issue befall the foxes of the world."
She grew pensive at his next question, letting out a heavy sigh before she spoke. "My tribe... We're very distant from one another. We're primarily made up of wanderers, wanderers with a place to call home. I haven't seen not only Akuma, but many of our members in a long time. I seem to be the only one who consistently remains on tribe grounds for the longest time. I mean, even Frenka disappeared and he was our Elder." She shook her head. "We haven't been fairing too well, come to think of it. We recently recovered from a famine, though I fear some other issue will come around." She said, a tinge of anxiety in her voice. "And your tribe? How has it been doing?" she asked. After all, she didn't want to seem callous. That certainly wouldn't resolve anything.

"Things have been...difficult, since Panda-Chan and Kure disappeared..." Sparkio answered, frowning lightly. "And our Tribe has suffered as well - we are no longer the happy, brightly lit Bamboo Tribe. I don't know what we are anymore." Sparkio fell silent for a few minutes, thinking, before he quickly shook his head and offered a sheepish smile. "Apologies,"
So their Elder had disappeared too? He would think on that later. "No, I did not know that Dorchet had any children..." Dear God. "With Akuma? My, that girl can't seem to keep away from us," Sparkio grinned cockily, trying to make the other Elder smile - he was completely kidding, of course, but things got solved quicker if everyone was in good spirits, or so he believed.
"Well, if any of the kits --are they kits still?-- if any of them do intend to join our Tribe, I will let you know. If Akuma wishes to visit them...well, we can discuss that when the time comes." Sparkio chuckled softly then, a small smile playing on his lips. "But it sounds like you need the extra members more, hm?" Sparkio said, the smile fading. A famine? That wasn't good...
...How much food did they have back home? Sparkio looked up at the sky as if waiting for an answer, then looked back at her. "Our Tribe has done fairly well of late, all things considered. Perhaps you could take some of our hunter's spoils back to your Tribe, with our friendship."
There. That was Elderish enough, wasn't it? He glanced surreptitiously up at the sky again, as if afraid that a 'Deity would come down all fiery and severely rebuke him for being so foolish.
When no 'Deity appeared, he looked back at her and smiled again. "Come. What can it hurt?"

Konton smiled, letting out a light laugh. "Indeed. Akuma seems to find herself in a lot of trouble concerning your tribe. It's quite ironic, actually," she said, looking up at Sparkio. "And no, the kits are adults now. You'll be able to easily recognize them. The oldest is a 'Daeva, mostly black with white paws, ears, and end of his tail. He has rich crimson eyes and similarly coloured flames. His horn and claws are wine-coloured, and he goes by the name Osoreru. The second is another 'Daeva by the name of Levi. He looks a lot more like his father. He's dark red with orange markings and has grey eyes. His horns and claws are white, and his flames are black and red. Esemono, the normal fox of the litter, is mostly black with red tinted eyes and hair. His tail is white with red bands. His legs are red, his left foreleg bearing an orange band. He has some triangular markings in orange on his back," she explained. "I only really know Osoreru, and he's just like your average 'Daeva, to be honest," she added with a sigh.
She was taken aback with Sparkio's request. "I couldn't take from your tribe," she remarked.

"Of course you could. It is unwise for Tribes to be distant and cut off from one another, it only leads to strife and misunderstandings, such as what took place between Akuma and Kyoufu," Sparkio pointed out. He had already committed both descriptions to memory, just in case they ever decided to visit their other homeland.
"Don't think of it as taking. Think of it as...a peace offering," Sparkio finally settled on, offering her an easy smile. "Besides, you need it, as well as your Tribe. And if our Tribes are to be friends and not enemies, it's practically my duty to help you - friends help friends," Sparkio nodded matter-of-factly, standing and stretching his great body.
"Really, Konton, it's alright. Now's as good a time as any to start putting the past behind us, is it not? Both of our previous Elders have disappeared, and we are the next generation. It's all about turning over new leaves -- maybe even Akuma will be able to let the past lie at some point, but I'm not holding my breath," He added with a snort, then offered a sheepish smile. "Sorry. I meant no offense."
"Now, come. The only way to get over famine is to eat," It was a sad world they lived in, Sparkio thought, when another perfectly nice Elder looked stunned that he had offered a simple kindness to her. He hoped that the world had not become so cynical and distrusting that nobody would help when someone needed, but apparently he had been wrong. How had no one assisted Konton and her Tribe when they were in dire need of it?
Shaking his head to clear it, he offered another small smile. "Coming?"
