((OR DARE I SAY.... EGG. CELLENT? RIGHT?? HAHA. Im going to hell.))
Hot steam arose from the glass shower in Miss Adelle's bathroom as the woman leaned drowsily against the tiled wall. The evening before had consisted of exhausting Madexo study leaving the woman with about as much sleep as a teenager in high school. It was her goal though to get up as early as her body could possibly allow so that no precious time was wasted. She loathed taking too long on projects, though this one probably required extra attention anyways. Water continued to run and Adelle hardly moved- she was just too tired. It would be perhaps another hour of soaking before she'd make herself dry off and tend to the ritual of makeup and 'make pretty'. A little pin in the shape of a frog's foot lie on the counter next to her outfit she had chosen for the day. Wrapping herself up in a towel, Adelle rubbed her eyes and stood in front of the mirror, staring at herself for a long time before leaning forwards and groaning. "You just got out of the shower and you already look like a mess.." she grumbled, then looked down to her clothing, ready to change before she noticed it.
The little egg enclosed in its protective case had started to squirm and quiver. Adelle wasn't sure whether or not her tired eyes were playing tricks on her until she leaned closer, watching as its movements quickened. Quickly she scooped the little brooch up and with a wild smile (and thankfully a towel tied tightly around her) rushed out of the bathroom, nearly slipping on the ceramic floor beneath her. Deciding that biffing it would most certainly not be the way Adelle wanted to go, she crammed her feet into her house shoes and scuffled out of the room. What a wonderful way to begin this day! she beamed to herself, knowing that being in just a towel would more than likely balance out any frustration from Max when being pestered this early in the morning. Max's room felt like an eternity away but by the time Adelle would get there she would have collected herself calmly and patiently enough to not clobber down his door.
Knock, knock, knock- the woman made sure not to pound the door too hard, waiting eagerly on the other side with the brooch carefully held in her other hand. "Maxy? Maxy are you awake in there? I have some news, Im pretty sure you can guess." she smiled, trying not to sound like he had no fathomable clue as to why she was there at his room. "I can wait but... " she said, then giggled quite out of character. The attempt at being calm was wearing off..
When Max would let Adelle in though there would not be much hesitation, and a woman in just a towel would happily grab his arm and thrust the brooch towards him.

[[ For the record, Dju is displeased with this forced RP =[[[[[[[[[[[[ ]]
Maximilian was very tired. He had spent the whole night manufacturing evidence towards his revolutionary research that the military would be picking up the following morning (personally of course, they didn't always trust the technologies of the thirty-first Century). Laying face-first in the plush mattress below him, the last thing that the professor had on his mind was the hatching of Miss Adelle's egg in the room down the hall. That pillow had seen a lot of action in its lifetime, but today, it understood that Maximilian would have none of that.
The jittery knocking on his door disturbed him from his sleep, however, and the scientist snorted with a start, wearily pushing his head up from the pillow, groaning when the movement inadvertently activated his alarm. Immediately, the happy doorkeeper flashed to life from the clock besides the bed, grinning in that eerie way down at him, its speech jerkily squealing down at him as the program slowly searched for words in its dictionary database.
"G--oodmorning Prof-Professor! How--was your sl-slurp?"
Maximilian really needed to upgrade her. Dismissing her with a wave of his hand, he sat up in bed as the rapping at his door continued.
"Coming..!" he called grouchily, his sheets falling away from the shirtless torso as he got to his feet and tightened the drawstring of his pants. Normally the man would sleep naked, but Maximilian found that the weather recently was just too damned cold for it. And he hadn't curled up with someone warm in a while either, so it's not like he had many opportunities to show off that physique of his. He was happy to say that even at the ripe old age of... 29 (he would refuse to admit to even himself how old he had gotten over the years without even noticing), he was as fit as a fiddle and--Was that a liver spot?? Maximilian gazed in horror at the mirror in front of him, catching a spot on his hip, leaning closer to inspect it more thoroughly. He was getting old! Old like a dog! And he was alone too! Was this what his life had amounted--Wait, just a bug.
Frowning at the deceptive mirror, he brushed the squashed bug off his hip before trudging to the door, opening it, his jaw almost dropping to a cartoonish point when he saw Adelle. In a towel. In front of his door.
This was rather usual for him, you see. Normally when he and a female counterpart were half naked, things were usually in the process of happening. Enjoyable things. Things that didn't require beakers or pliers or test tubes. Well, once there was test tubes involved, but that time was an exception, you know, and they were both drunk and--He glanced down at the wriggling tadpole trapped in its shell and let out a sigh. Petting her shoulder, he took the brooch and carefully closed his hand over it, slipping past the lovely Adelle (making sure to get a good eyeful of her naked legs as he strode past) and towards the laboratory, expecting her to follow along.
"You're really excited about this, aren't you?" he muttered, clearly the very opposite himself.
There were so many other better situations that the half-dressed Adelle could have woken him up for instead.

"Oh, Of course I am" Adelle remarked, giving Max a smack in the back- not too roughly though. "I can see that you aren't equally so, but I would at least hope it wasn't a hassle- especially considering you let me own one in the first place." she said and smirked a little, leaning at her hip but then proceeding to follow him. She knew he at least cared somewhat for the success of this project, though unbeknown to her the ******** of emotions Maximilian actually felt. With an adjustment to her towel Adelle glanced back at her room considering changing while he hatched the egg.
Assuming she wasn't needed entirely for this step she jotted off as he walked on, risking angering her partner. After slipping into her room and finding a robe to slip on (perhaps not the best choice of replacement but it made her feel less exposed) then rushed back out to rejoin Max, hoping he wouldn't have noticed, and if he should that he didn't mind. Either way, Adelle was too excited and euphoric that she'd more than likely make it worth his while to take care of this hatching tadpole.
Once she caught up to the man she inquired about the next steps. "Maxy, what exactly is going to happen now? Since it's obvious that the little guy isn't going to immediately grow child-sized. How long... does it take?" she asked in the most patient tone she could.
"You know, Im really sorry if I woke you, you really look exhausted..." she said trying to appeal to his better nature. "How bout after you get this little one hatched and ready to go on his growing journey I make you some warm fudge or something like that? And then you should take a break for a few days- I can watch over Tibalt down in the lab for you." she smiled.

"You owe me," the professor mumbled irritably, wagging the little brooch in his hand from side to side, very obviously uncaring about the state of the writhing tadpole trapped in the membrane that was secured onto the pin. He walked on without her, regardless, slipping down the staircase that led to the laboratories, musing about how much Gold it would cost him to have an elevator installed which could take him down to the dank laboratories in a snap; The man wasted no time in moving to his work table and laying down the pin, turning around and waiting for Adelle to hurry down the stairs and join him.
Tutting gently at his partner, he gave her a wink before pulling Adelle besides him and forcibly seating her in his chair--It was less distracting to put her there for the meanwhile, even through the tone of her voice, he could sense her jittery nerves. "Adelle, like all good things in life, things take time to work." Since he was now devoid of his chair, the professor settled for leaning over against the small brooch, a little scalpel in his hands (well, it was actually a letter opener, but he only needed it for one purpose anyways), poised over the quivering egg. "Light," he commanded in a curt voice, activating the lamp on his desk which immediately sent a burst of light towards the workspace.
"Fudge..?" Maximilian inquired distractedly, vaguely nodding towards the woman. "Fudge might be nice.. and a little break.." he mumbled, his furrowed brow indicating that his focus was now back on the task at hand.
Slowly, he began to make an incision, careful not to let the creature inside receive the sharp end of the knife instead--One incision was all he needed though, the skin of the egg was punctured and slowly started to deflate on the growing tadpole. Moving to his shelves, Maximilian picked up a fairly large jar, pre-filled with amniotic-mimicking nutrients and slapped it onto the table besides the egg. Picking up the pin by the very tip of it, he dipped half the brooch into the liquid, watching carefully as the excited little creature began wiggling against the incision, no doubt taking a few well-deserved nibbles of the shell before it could escape into the nutrients.
A grin slipped across Maximilian's face as the tadpole--002, finally slipped out, wriggling free and floating in the liquid, dazed for a few seconds before it began to delightedly swim around. The professor pulled the pin out of the liquid, scraping off the softened egg into the water as food for the baby tadpole before he handed the polished glass pin back to Adelle.
"Here--You can still wear it, if you wish. Congratulations, Adelle," Max smiled at her, "A Prince of your own."

An intrigued expression passed Adelle's face while she watched from the chair. It was hard for her to resist wincing and squirming when the scalpel pierced the egg, but she knew well enough that Max knew what he was doing. She had always been squeamish of dissections and the like anyways. Her entrancement with the procedure was cut short though when he pulled out the jar, and the woman stifled a chuckle. Of course, it made sense that a tadpole would have to grow up in something aquatic, but the jar was reminiscent of childhood entertainment. When a firefly, caterpillar, or some other critter was caught by a juvenile it was always placed in a jelly jar and carried around for show-and-tell. Adelle would get to be that kiddie for a while.
By now the soft smile had grown into a massive smirk from ear to precious ear. Judging by the tadpole's excited release into a more sizable container he would be a suitable distraction for Adelle to stare at for hours and make obnoxious baby-talk to. "Maxy... he's absolutely ADORABLE!" she belted out and lept out of the chair like a little girl getting a pony on her birthday. When he returned the pin he was rewarded with another one of Adelle's usual kisses- perhaps a little lot more kick in this one.
"This project is going to change so much, Max. there will be so many people whose eyes will light up gleefully at these little ones just like me." she said and (gently) smacked his cheek twice. "Now-" Adelle began, backing off a bit and carefully leaning over the jar, putting her index finger on one of its sides.
"-Id quickly assume that there will be an exclusive feeding process to this, no?" she asked. The woman imagined Max had developed some sort of special nutrient to feed the tadpole among other things to promote/help their intense growth cycle. Her eyes wandered to the tadpole inside, trying hard not to make it obvious that she would spend countless hours watching him in there. It did mean though that her worries seemed to die out now that she could monitor the creature with her own eyes. Maybe this would mean an end to all the annoying intrusions (though judging by the nature of this last one Max probably wouldn't want them to stop completely.)

The scientist had to do a double-take at the tadpole when Adelle expressed her delight--it hardly looked adorable. In fact, a better way to describe it was if he called it a fat, diseased sperm. Luckily, it wouldn't stay that way for long if she took care of it. His thoughts were distracted--as was every other mechanism in his body apart from the rush of blood to various... places--when Adelle leaped forwards and kissed him almost aggressively, the scientist giving a surprised yelp, but before he could club her over the head and drag her back to his cave react, in, you know, the usual ways , she was gone again. Dammit! One day he would have her!
Resting on his elbow with a an exasperated sigh, he slid over the oversized cork lid sitting at the corner of his desk closer to the jar. Picking it up, he all but dropped it onto the jar and thumped it with his fist. The cork slid in with a little squeak, but the tadpole, hearing a loud disturbance above it, dove to the bottom of the jar in fright. Tibalt, who was sleeping in a shadowed corner (did round tanks have corners??) of the tank, barely stirred at the loud noise.
"Food? Well, yeah, there's a process to it. Luckily for you, the majority of the process is taken care of via the nutrients in that water. Do not put normal water in that jar--come to the lab and get it refilled if it starts to get murky." Those ******** did always s**t a lot.
From another drawer in his desk, Maximilian spent a few seconds rummaging through the little bottles until he found an unlabeled one with a blue cap, which, unbeknown to his partner at least, contained nothing more than the same nutrients found in the water the tadpole was sitting in. "Give it five drops of this three times a day," he instructed firmly, shoving the bottle towards her. "And as for proper food.. try boiling, then freezing some lettuce and crushing it into a powder. Tibalt enjoyed that quite a bit.. Just don't overfeed it or it will be fat. No more than four times a day, and just a pinch, too!"
Max had a feeling this boy was going to be fat, very fat, if Adelle kept up this smothering attitude towards the experiment.

Adelle nodded as Max spoke, knowing that there would be a time when the liquid inside would look absolutely unsustainable for the tadpole. Plus it was preferable that the jar wasn't disgusting to look at. "Well this would seem simple enough." she smiled. "And no worries, Maxy, I used to take care of my parent's fish when I was younger." Obviously she didn't want him to think she'd overfeed the little guy like he warned.
With dainty hands, Adelle reached around the jar, carefully lifting it as not to shake it and the little one inside around. "Wonder if putting small plants in there, god forbid there be any after this war-induced winter, would be beneficial to them?" she murmured loud enough for Max to hear. God, she already wanted to decorate the jar.. at least it didn't involve pink glitter glue and a ribbon tied around the cork.
Meanwhile, the woman glanced into the water at her tiny princelet in hopes that eventually he would recognize not only her heartbeat but her face.
Tiny little 002 wasn't too excited to be suspended when he was trying to stay at the bottom of the jar but when he was no longer being subjected to a loud noise overhead, he let himself float upwards again. Occasionally he'd dart here, and then there, but the two large hands startled him, so he avoided them. The open space provided a glimpse at the one who owned him who was looking down smiling but not gluing her face to the glass. This was ample room for him to observe her comfortably, and vice versa. Their relationship would be a lot more active than that of Tibalt and Maximilian.

Even for the complicated genetic structure of the tadpole in Adelle's hands, looking after them was not as difficult as an outsider would surmise. Rich people were terribly lazy (in Maximilian's opinion, at least) and anything requiring an instruction pamphlet would have soon been broken from too much experimenting and too little reading. Like the projector he had been bought for his 10th birthday. Now how was he to know that there was a spontaneous combustion switch on it?? Simple was the best, and at the very base level, the tadpole was still a just an animal. The changed that would take place to it would be such that soon Adelle would notice the little thing growing in the jar until it barely had room to move, in which case it would be released along with Tibalt.. Hm. I can't remember if toads ate other frogs...
Nevermind, nevermind, they would worry about that when it came to that. It wasn't a magical process, it would actually be growing inside that jar and soon become too big for it altogether. It was a rather rapid process, and before the two longest stages in their lifetime, adolescence and adulthood, Maximilian figured that they didn't need any extra tending to when it came to things like clothes. She would become mighty frustrated when dressing the experiment in a bonnet to notice that it would grow out of it as early as the next couple of days. Though, that would have been rather funny to watch.
"Plants? Forget the Winter, the most of them died out because of the little beetles that frogs would normally have kept control of." Knowing the dangers of the war's ongoing aggression, the Wexler family had another section to the laboratory, Basement 2 or B2--Where they had previously stored vats of nuclear waste before they, ahem, found easier ways of disposal, grew a large, lush botanical garden, the family's own personal greenhouse. Now, Maximilian was cautioned against going down there as a child, but after his parents had passed at the ripe old age of 55 and 59, he finally understood where they got tomatoes that were any other color but blue. Which was what they were selling at the marketplace at the time. "Feel free to go downstairs and pick some out yourself; it might be more entertaining than an empty jar for 002," Max shrugged.
He glanced over to the boy sleeping at the bottom of the tank and sighed. The tank used to be full of pond-grass and lilies when Tri was alive. And splashing him, there was a lot of that too.
"Take care of him, Adelle," he murmured, striding over to the stairs and mounting them, already fantasizing about the dreams he was going to have once he was in bed again.

"Right- makes sense.." Adelle murmured in response to Max's explanation, quickly realizing another positive to having these frog princes around. Could they really help rebuild the flora even in the brutal winter.. Her thoughts were interrupted by the focus on 002's jar. Smiling she nodded, and very carefully moved the jar close to her arm to carry easier, bidding farewell to Max with a light bow. As soon as he'd leave she would smile at 002 and quietly speak to him. "I hope you are okay with some plants to share in there... surely you will." she smiled, then eyed Tibalt's tank, wondering if she'd bring some for him too, but decided it best to wait and ask Max for permission later.
Madam X exited the lab and went straight for her room, deciding it best to get dressed before doing anything else that day- wouldn't want to bump into Max again while both weren't expecting it. The euphoria she felt would certainly lead to more. Dismissing the thought, she set 002 down on her nightstand carefully and walked to her dresser to grab an outfit for the rest of the day. She assumed it would be humid in the greenhouse downstairs so avoided wearing something hefty or furry, if you will. 002 was approached again by his tall master now in something much less flamboyant than her usual- some sweats and a t-shirt with a few colorful marks more than likely caused by mediums for designing.
"Well, sweetie, Im going to bring you with me but you're gonna be doing a lot of waiting and watching- but hell, what else would you be doing anyways if I left you in here.." she said, slightly slapping her forehead. "No sense in yammering, let's go."
Adelle then departed for the greenhouse as if off to the market taking her precious little... thing with her.
