Kraken [X] [X] [X] are legendary sea monsters of gargantuan size, said to have dwelt off the coasts of Norway and Iceland. The sheer size and fearsome appearance attributed to the beasts have made them common ocean-dwelling monsters in various fictional works. The legend may actually have originated from sightings of real giant squid that are variously estimated to grow to 13–15 metres (40–50 feet) in length, including the tentacles. These creatures normally live at great depths, but have been sighted at the surface and reportedly have "attacked" ships.
Below the thunders of the upper deep;
Far far beneath in the abysmal sea,

The reasoning behind the name
Scylla is a main belt asteroid. It was discovered by J. Palisa on November 8, 1875 and named after the monster Scylla in Greek mythology.
According to Ovid, Scylla [X] [X] was once a beautiful nymph. She was one of the children of Phorcys and either Hecate, Crataeis, Lamia or Ceto (all of whom may be various names for the same goddess). Some sources, including Stesichorus cite her parents as Triton and Lamia. The fisherman-turned-sea-god Glaucus fell madly in love with her, but she fled from him onto the land where he could not follow. Despair filled his heart. He went to the sorceress Circe to ask for a love potion to melt Scylla's heart. As he told his tale of love about Scylla to Circe, she herself fell in love with him. She wooed him with her sweetest words and looks, but the sea-god would have none of her. Circe was furious, but with Scylla and not with Glaucus. She prepared a vial of very powerful poison and poured it in the pool where Scylla bathed. As soon as the nymph entered the water, she was transformed into a frightful monster with twelve feet and six long necks equipped with grisly heads, each of which contained three rows of sharp teeth. Four to six angry, growling wolf heads grew from her waist, and she tried to brush them off. Her body consisted of twelve tentacle-like legs and a cat's tail. She stood there in utter misery, unable to move, loathing and destroying everything that came into her reach, a peril to all sailors who passed near her. Whenever a ship passed, each of her heads would seize one of the crew.

Hated Food: Eggs. She will -not- cook or even eat eggs, especially since the one time she tried to help the family's kitchen help as a child, she cracked open the egg, and... well, leave it at -1 baby chicken was in some henhouse than should've been.
School: Crystal Academy.

Hobbies:
Most sports, Jada avoids like the plague. She is not too physically accomplished, but to feed her ego, she gives it all a go. Jada is, mostly, your typical well-bred girl.
Equestrianism -- Jada is an average rider for her social status; she used to be much better. She specializes in show jumping. Unfortunately, school means she now rides mostly on the weekends. She is not on the polo team at school- too much eye/hand coordination, and she doesn't have the time! She does have her own mare, a beautiful black Hanoverian about 16.2 hands, named Lady Luck.
Reading -- Young Miss Chamberlyn is very close to being what is known as a bibliomaniac. It isn't what is in the book that gets her- though she has a distinct fondness for cheesy romance novels- but it is the smell of the book, and the feel of the pages rubbing along her soft fingers... It is why most of her time is in the library, and why her bookshelves are always looking to overflow. And probably why she can't keep a boyfriend.
Music -- Music woos her away from everything. She can play the piano and the harp as well as sing. She has no desire to learn any additional instruments, and wind and brass instruments she has absolutely no aptitude for. She doesn't really do much with the harp anymore, but she does keep up with the piano. She will often be seen with her ipod in one ear, listening to... anything, from classical to garage bands.
Exercise -- Jada loves exercise. It keeps her healthy, slender, and beautiful. She jogs, and follows along with her yoga and cardio DVDs... and her top-secret bellydance DVDs. It is also great fun to attend sports events, especially watching those rough-and-tumble sports with the Meadowview girls... Mostly because they look so cute in their outfits. She's completely helpless at most sports, so she is typically on the sidelines with a book. She also enjoys watching the boys, but their bouncing is much less amusing.
Extracurricular Activities:
Against her mother's wishes, Jada's father encourages her to get some outside- "Real Life"- experiences. She is a volunteer at the local library after school, shelving books or whatever else they need, and will tutor people from other schools or from her own should they state they require it.
Virtues:
Confident -- She's beauty and she's grace, she's elegance and taste, blah blah blah. Jada is damn lucky- beautiful, wealthy, and moderately talented- and she knows it; she holds herself to show it off. She may not always dress like your stereotypical "rich girl," often liking to "slum it" in denim and a t-shirt when she isn't spending the weekend with her mother, but she always makes sure to exude class- and a sense of self-security.
Graceful -- From training in dance as a child (she needs to be able to dance at those stupid parties her mother likes) and proper comportment, Jada has an excellent sense of balance. Should she miss a step, she should catch herself with minimal injury. But as every well-bred young lady knows, you always gauge the steps before you start walking down, because you should float in that gown.
Book-smart -- If she doesn't know it, she has access to the library and can research it. The end.
The Lioness -- Jada dislikes the thought of combat- either verbally or physically- with someone else. There are two potential negatives to a fight- 1, it is beneath her, and someone might see; 2, she might get marked up somehow, physically. But when it comes to her friends or her family, she will stand up to whoever she needs to- however she has to.
Flaws:
Praise-hungry -- Jada thrives on praise. She tries to be the perfect student. The perfect schoolmate. The perfect sister. The perfect girlfriend (when she has a significant other) and the perfect... everything. She keeps up on the latest trends, the latest news, and keeps herself so busy that she's never had time to truly explore her own inner feelings.
Meddling -- Jada tends to want what is best for everyone. To the point that even if she is told, "Don't butt in," there is a very good chance that she will.
Insecure -- Her whole life she's been pushed to excel. Mother wanting one thing for her, father wanting something else. Teachers expect great grades, friends expect that perky smile. Expectations are high, and she's desperate to please everyone. The desperation is well-hidden, as is the feeling that she is never good enough.
Vain -- Jada works hard to maintain her looks. She'll work out every day, only eats the freshest foods and vegetables- her body is a temple! She gets up early every morning to make sure that her hair is absolutely perfect, her makeup is well done, and that she is completely ready for the day ahead. She uses all the latest care products for her hair and skin, and if she breaks a nail? Unacceptable. Which is why, should someone prove overly aggressive, she is as like to run away as fast as her little legs can carry her as she is to try and protect whoever may be nearby. After all, she just got her nails done, and what if they leave a bruise on that perfect face? Someone would notice that, and that might put her entire family in danger- as well as making her ugly!

Physical Description:
Jada spends a long time each morning getting ready for her day. Yeah, she was born with good genes- and she knows it- but perfection can always be improved upon.
Hair: Jada has black hair, thick and wavy, that when left loose goes down to the back of her knees. Most of the time she will have it up in a half-braid, leaving the underside of the hair loose and the top half (pulled back from her face) in some sort of design- a braid, a ponytail, a bun. She does have bangs, and leaves a few tendrils to be around her face no matter what style it is in.
Eyes: Her eyes are medium-sized, a blue-violet color. "Audrey Hepburn eyes" almond-shaped and thickly lashed. Her eyes are her favorite feature, and she always enhances them to the best of her ability. (around a #8c01cd)
Face: Her face is slim, heart-shaped. Her lips are fairly full- the lower a bit thicker so it almost gives the illusion of a pout- and she has a nose that is best described as "cute." She has no freckles.
Body: Not a perfect hourglass figure, she is a bit top-heavy. She is hippy, but not really with a full bottom. She has long legs and a bit of a short upper torso, and her hands are long-fingered. She is approximately 5'0
Fashion: For accessories, she loves shiny things and she loves to make sure they match her eyes. She is more inclined to go with gold accessories since they stand out against her fair skin, even though she personally likes silver better. She likes to wear lots of black and dark jeweltones- dark blues and purples and reds. Once out of her school uniform, she can typically found in a pair of clean-looking denims, with a nice looking top. Favorite shoes- heels, naturally, a pair of black knee-high boots that she bought as an act of 'rebellion'. One of the first things she bought for herself as soon as she decided to board at the Academy.
Makeup: She rarely uses full makeup, not wanting to clog her pores. She'll go one of two ways if she can- overly dramatic, with bright bold eye colors and lip colors and glitter if it applies, or glowingly "natural". She always, always uses black mascara. Lipsticks, she has a fondness for reds. Lipliner is rare to see.

Jada's Family
Jada comes from a wealthy family, which is how she was privileged enough to get into the Crystal Academy for Girls. Her mother had gone there too, and Jada was raised knowing her daughter would be going there too. It was tradition, thank you, and it kept the women in her family in the manner to which generations had become accustomed. Rich men liked well-bred women on their arm, after all.
Her entire life, as the eldest daughter, she has been raised in two different ways. Her mother is a bit of a traditional thinker- women are decoration. They need to know decorum, manners, and all things necessary to please the man who chooses them. Her father is more modern- she is his oldest child, daughter or not, and she will have all of the business knowledge needed to be successful in taking over his business. When she was very young he didn't push her as hard, but as she- and he- got older, the pressure came down.
The four Chamberlyn children all know where they stand: Jada is the one who responsibility is thrown at, Zora and Kayley are the mostly ignored middle children, and Lucas is the darling. However, they are a close-knit bunch- of all the people in her life, even her beloved father, Jada's younger siblings are the only people Jada would do anything for, and pay any price to keep safe and happy.
The Father: T. Michael Chamberlyn; Just call him "Michael", "Mike", or "T"- if you are allowed to speak to him as a peer. Otherwise it can be "Mr. Chamberlyn" or "Mr. C". He is a very laid back, relaxed man, who married his wife for her brains and her will- not matter what she says it was for. Jada calls him "Daddy" and he is the man she loves most in the world. heart He does fight with the wife he desperately loves often, their yelling matches resounding through the large house and echoing in their childrens ears.
The Mother: Szelem Montgomery-Chamberlyn; You may refer to her as "Mrs. Chamberlyn" or "Mrs. Montgomery-Chamberlyn". She defied her own parents to marry a man they thought would be disadvantageous- well, a little will is good in a woman, apparently, because her husband made more advantageous deals than the man they had told her to marry... But that is neither here nor there. Szel, as Michael calls her, is a lovely woman with a lively mind and a lively wit, and just as determined as her parents were to see her oldest daughter comfortable and secure- and her only son heir to her husband's fortune.
The younger sisters: Kayley and Zora Chamberlyn; They are 12 year old hellions. Everything they had seen their sister be denied from the time they were small, they do- colored hair, sneaking out at night, skipping classes, terrorizing the maids... they remorselessly wreak all the havoc they can. Their mother ignores them since they are useless hellions who will never learn, their father will cosset them or punish them as necessary, but they both know he sees them as useless as their mother. The only one he needs is Jada, and the only one she needs is Lucas. Regardless, they are very close to their big sister, who helps them with their schoolwork, and to their younger brother, who idolizes them.
The younger brother: Lucas Chamberlyn; The only son of the Chamberlyn family is ten years old, and the apple of his mother's eye. Someone had to be, after all. He has no interest in his father's money- at ten years old, all he seeks to be is a fireman. He worships his big sisters with the innocence only a ten-year old can have.

NAME: Scylla's Sorrow
What it does: Sailor Scylla is able to create what looks like tentacles. These tentacles can grab and hold the opponent, either leaving them vulnerable to another senshi, or just leaving them unable to chase her until they wear off or fight their way out. Scylla can create up to 8 of these tentacles at once, an absolute maximum. One tentacle can be maintained for up to a full 90 seconds, each subsequent tentacle draining time off of this maximum. The full 8 tentacles averages 30 seconds and leaves her able to walk- they could last for longer, but the effort of maintaining them would leave her severely drained from their use and therefore completely helpless when they wore off. Maintaining them longer would therefore be a last-ditch resort, only if she knew help was on the way. She can use her maximum number of tentacles once per day, and any mix of the other tentacles would vary on usage and stress.

These Leos cling to others (in the mode of the child not wanting to leave its mother's side).) They can't bear to be alone. No matter what level they have attained, all Leos are trendsetters, leaders and adventurers. Their weakness is their pride. This is one sign where the saying "flattery will get you everything" applies, but be warned criticism will slam the relationship door right in your face.

Erm, I'm afraid you'll need to find another star other than Merope for your secondary idea of Morality. ^^; I'm getting Merope through a RL slot. Sorry!
This is a list of all taken and quested-for names and spheres in case you need ideas or need to check whether or not something is available.
Good luck finding a sphere! That's one of the more difficult things when questing for a senshi. My advice is to start with the abilities: what do you want to do in an RP? Do you want to attack the opponent? Defend? Heal? Once you narrow that down, you can come up with designs and roll on from there. :3

Hi there! Before marking, I'd like to offer a few crit comments. I'm a relatively new player, so I'll warn you of that before I go on, but that being said I think I can see a couple basic areas of improvement for Jada/Scylla, and a few of them are very minor. <3
(1) The Kraken is an incredibly cool myth and an incredibly cool creature -- and an incredibly cool sphere for that matter. However, I strongly suggest that you change Jada from Senshi of Krakens to Senshi of the Kraken. The Kraken is a very powerful and individual beast, not a race of similar beasts, and "Krakens" diminishes this about the myth. Since the powers won't change either way, I think semantically speaking Senshi of the Kraken would suit what you're going for better!
(2) Another minor semantical note -- I think "Jada Chamberlain" would suit better than "Jada Chamberlyn." I don't know if Chamberlyn is a real name, but Chamberlain most definitely is, and civilian names should come from civilian ethnicities!
(3) Since this is The Near Future, rich people should be calling their employees "the hired help," not so much "the servants." <3 Semantical.
(4) With respect to Jada's personality, advice that my friend Shazari and I like to give to people with character personalities is not only to balance flaws and virtues -- though that's important -- but to "pick a shtick and shtick to it." How would you summarize your character in one or two sentences if you had to? Would this description be distinct from other characters in In the Name of the Moon? I think in the case of Jada, you seem to be going for a privileged, outwardly self-confident, accomplished person who's also self-involved, vain, pushy, and so forth -- and that's good, that IS a coherent shtick! Like you said, it's very true to the Leo personality type. However, I feel that being considerate towards other people is a virtue that contradicts the rest of her personality "shtick" -- her flaws seem to revolve around being self-involved and self-centered. Perhaps you could replace that virtue with something more like "brave" or "confident?" (Keep in mind confidence is not mutually exclusive with insecurity!) Similarly, her unwillingness to fight doesn't really gel with the rest of her personality as a virtue.
