It seems they are defining "Steampunk" as "Anything extremely retro." But what do you expect when the brand name of the majority of those garments is apparently "Lip Service"?
Those keychain earrings aren't bad though. If I was a chick, those'd be on my want list. xd

I was always told that Steampunk is what we make it. Not as a label like you are trying to make it sound, Hottopic added those because many people requested apparel like that. It's no big deal wether it's not "Steampunk" to you. It could be to other people and when people see that you think it's funny to make fun of a company who has multiple styles in their stores to satisfy a large amount of people. And besides i've seen alot of "Steampunks" wear stuff like that all the time and they look VERY dashing. So... don't knock it.

Uh, the majority of their Steampunk stuff isn't even close to steam.
Lace and mesh =/= Steampunk. Black =/= Steampunk. Obvious plastic =/= Steampunk.
Most of their stuff is EGL... And generic goth.
Why don't they hire real Steampunk designers? Oh, that's right. Because most of us don't like our s**t being sold en masse.

John Stalvern waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were demons in the base. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Cernel Joson were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway. John was a space marine for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the spaceships and he said to dad "I want to be on the ships daddy." Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY DEMONS" There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the space station base of the UAC he knew there were demons. "This is Joson" the radio crackered. "You must fight the demons!" So John gotted his palsma rifle and blew up the wall. "HE GOING TO KILL US" said the demons "I will shoot at him" said the cyberdemon and he fired the rocket missiles. John plasmaed at him and tried to blew him up. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill. "No! I must kill the demons" he shouted The radio said "No, John. You are the demons" And then John was a zombie.

Is it sad that...
If done right, I can see just about any of those pieces they call steampunk being incorporated into a well done outfit? The Twilight necklace excluded, because it has a logo connecting it to Twilight, all of that stuff could be modified to suit the wearer and be made into steampunk.
I particularly like the pillbox hats, they're coming into style in the subcultures I travel in(anime, lolita, generic goth, steampunk). It would be nice if they tried a color aside from black, though, and I don't mean red.

A lot of that stuff can be incorporated into Steam-punk style.

looks to me dear sir, that you simply searched "steampunk" in their search bar and it just retrieved everything in their store that could be considered even by just a small smidgen steamy.
