Hello everyone! This is -----, an obsessively crazy Twilight fan! Here are a few reasons why people should love Twilight:
1. Bella
Most vampire stories include some sort of human pursuing a bad vampire who keeps going around slaughtering people, and when this happens, most people turn to the protagonist for help. However, Bella was specially designed to blend in with the crowd, and not have anything special. She wasn't supposed to slaughter a vampire, and obviously, she was meant to fall in love with one! But she doesn't wind up being a hero in the end, which is very interesting to consider. (SHE IS NOT A MARY SUE! HER SCORE IS A 9! ANTI-SUE!)
2. The Old and the New World
It's also very interesting to think that these vampires are very different from traditional vampires. For those who are unaware, most vampires come out during the night, sleep in coffins, are burned by the sun, and only feed off of humans. Stephenie's vampires can come out during the day time, they can't sleep at all, they sparkle in sunlight, and they have an option to feed from humans or animals.
According to Stephenie herself, she did not do any research on vampires before she wrote Twilight. Don't you think it's interesting how different they are from traditional vampires?
3. No Fear:
It's very impressive how Stephenie created and structured Edward. Unlike most vampires, he belongs to a foster family full of vampires, and like Bella, was designed to blend with the crowd. He isn't some sort of feared vampire like most vampire stories who threatens to turn everyone into a vampire. He sticks by his family's standards, and makes sure to feed off of animals, since he is also disgusted by the idea of killing another human.
4. Heart to Heart, Soul to Soul:
Edward and Bella are very good to each other, and they're good to each other's families. Edward is very gentle around her, even when he is angry, and cares about Bella deeply. One very good reason to love Edward is because he is doing everything in his power to make sure Bella sees eternal happiness, and a GREAT reason to love Bella is because she loves Edward, and thus is what makes him very happy. It's a blessing for him to know someone loves him to the soul. Bella is also very commited to stay with him for eternity, to make sure they seek their own happiness together. Who wouldn't want to see the one they love smile?
5. Edward's Commitment (MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS):
Many think that Edward is overprotective of Bella, but it's not just because he wants Bella to live. He doesn't just protect her from the dangers from other vampires, but he is also protecting her from becoming like those other damsels in romance stories. Some of those gals will actually commence sexual activity BEFORE they are married. Edward is trying to protect Bella from doing that kind of thing, but some readers often have a hard time seeing that, which is understandable.
6. A Kindest Heart (SPOILERS):
In Eclipse, after Edward returns to Bella, Bella has an extremely hard time deciding if she should stay with Edward or Jacob. While this is a little trying for those who don't get it, this proves Bella doesn't want to hurt one because she picked the other. The scripture belows represents Bella's situation in Eclipse:
Matthew 6:24
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Bella is stuck in Eclipse because she knows she has to pick either Edward or Jacob; she can't pick both, even though it would be easier on her situation. But Bella knows if she picks one, she'll end up cutting up the other one for life, which she does not want to do.
7. Wherever You Go... (SPOILERS! SHIELD YOUR EYES!)
Both Edward and Jacob have been at Bella's side the whole time, and neither one has even made an attempt to betray her. Even after Bella chose to stay with Edward, Jacob said to her he would be there for her in case she changed her mind (which she doesn't). Edward also says to her multiple times that whenever she needs him, he'll be there for her, which has remained true throughout the series.
8. The One Thousand Steps of an Artist:
A lot of these vampires are very good at what they do (such as Edward's ability to play the piano like a virtuoso) because not only were their talents enhanced when they were turned into vampires, but they also had plenty of time to do all of this stuff, which works to their advantage. The birth and death dates of the order which the Cullens were transformed are listed below:
Carlisle: 1640s-1660s (bitten by a vampire. Was possibly because he was in charge of hunting them down)
Jasper: 1840s-1860s (bitten by a vampire who needed help getting her territory back. Found Carlisle on his own after a century)
Edward: 1901-1918 (bitten by Carlisle. Was dying of the Spanish influenza)
Alice: 1901-1920 (bitten by an unknown vampire. Would have been killed by James. Found Carlisle with Japser.)
Esme: 1895-1921 (bitten by Carlisle. Was dying from a suicide attempt)
Rosalie: 1915-1933 (bitten by Carlisle. Was dying from a beating/rape from her drunken fiance)
Emmett: 1915-1935 (found by Rosalie, then bitten by Carlisle. Was dying from a bear attack)
9. Morality (SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS FOR BREAKING DAWN! SHIELD YOUR EYES!!!!!!)
Twilight, overall, is a very clean and moral story. If you have read this and are thinking Breaking Dawn contradicts that, there's an upside for what they did.
If Stephenie Meyer was NOT a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the following would have happened:
They would have already commenced sexual activity BEFORE MARRIAGE. This is considered appropriate after marriage, and they didn't do any of that until after they married. Bella also would have gotten impregnated before she was married.
The rating of the swears would increase by a longshot. In the books, the swears seem to slip out when a character is angry, confused, or frustrated, not just when they feel like it.
Any sexual scenes would have been described in full detail. She blotted out all details, but the reader still gets the idea of what's going on without having to skip a motherload of pages to avoid that. Stephenie made sure to keep the story itself clean.

And this was my long-winded response:
Quote:
1. Most vampire stories? How about all of the other ones that involve a vampire falling in love with a human? How about the book Dead Until Dark? Look, Twilight is the furthest from original you’ll get, excluding the fact that the vampires sparkle, which is completely dumb and unnecessary, anyway.
Also: Bella got a 52 on the Universal Mary-Sue test. Do it again; make sure you do it right.
2. The fact that she didn’t research vampires makes the stories even worse. In case you didn’t know, “researching” is not the same as “plagiarizing.” You can research stuff and not use any of the same ideas. The fact that she didn’t research vampires makes them less vampire-like and much more annoying.
“For those who are unaware” implies that typical people don’t know what traditional vampires are supposed to be like. The uninformed, though, would include Stephenie Meyer. But just look at what Twilight did! Burn in sunlight? MYTH. Sleep in coffins? MYTH. Feed on human blood? MYTH… We feed on the icing of cupcakes. Seriously, what do they even have in common with real vampires after that? They don’t deserve to be called vampires.
3. Yes, we all know Edward’s “different” and a “good guy” even though he SAYS he’s “the bad guy.” He constantly reminds Bella that he’s dangerous, and becomes frustrated when she isn’t scared. Why? Because he wants her to be scared. It’s a sign of controlling; you can find the signs of control/abuse on any page where Edward is mentioned.
4. You say they’re good to each other, but have you not noticed that they lie to each other, break promises made to each other, and go against each other’s wishes? He is not gentle around her; he holds her down, stares her down. He asserts his power around her to intimidate her. (For example, breaking the “2-foot-thick” branch in the meadow.) His “protecting” her is controlling her and watching her, making sure the “bad things” don’t get to her, because she can’t live on her own. She can’t take care of herself; she needs him to take care of her 24/7. Bella is “committed to stay with him for eternity” because there is no escape for her. She’s trapped in the relationship and now has no choice but to go through with it.
5. Edwards “overprotection” goes too far. Warning signs of abuse include constant monitoring and jealously. These are omnipresent in the series. He assures her that she’s a danger magnet, and asserts that she needs him to take care of her. I have no clue why he would take care of Bella so much but for… wait for it… an object onto which he can project his abusiveness! She’s just his plaything. And he gets to keep her in his blissful little piece of forever.
By the way, the whole “damsel in distress” thing happens ALL THE TIME. He probably lets bad things happen to her so he can save her and say, “See, Bella? You need me.” She was almost crushed by Tyler’s Van. Edward to the rescue! She was almost gang raped. Edward to the rescue! She ran off on her own to confront James. Edward to the rescue! See how it is?
6. Edward and Jacob play monkey-in-the-middle with Bella. That’s all I have to say. (Oh yeah, they fight over her. Isn’t she the special one?)
7. Bella is an abuse magnet, isn’t she? She just can’t decide between Mr. Control and Chief *****. They’ve both been at her side the whole time, have they? Well, there you go! Constant monitoring. Wait, you’re saying Edward’s always been there for her? More like a mutual, “If you leave me, I’ll kill myself.” Hmm… that sounds familiar. Oh, yeah. Edward leaves and Bella jumps off a cliff. Then when Edward thinks Bella dies (it’s a reality to him) he goes and tries to kill himself. Yeah, that’s completely loyal and caring. Suicide.
8. If you could live forever, what would you do? I know what I’d do! Play the piano and go to high school forever!! Seriously, there’s something wrong here. You know what I think’s going on?
Edward spends the hundred years of his vampire life to become dazzling and romantic in every way. He plays the piano and writes song(s) for girls. Then he goes to high school all the time, looking for prey. Since he can’t drink human blood, he must have something else: control. He goes around to high schools all his life wooing unknowing girls and taking them into his control. Yes, he is very good at what he does, isn’t he?
9. Stephenie Meyer’s “morality” is completely surreal. This is her ideal world: no swearing, no violence (yeah, right!), no premarital sex, etc. Is this realistic? Hell, no. Stephenie Meyer is not a realist. She sees everything as happy and perfect. She says, “Look, everything I does is moral and perfect. Don’t look for the bad things. Look for the good things. Morals. There’s no abuse. Just morals.” Read a realistic story, not Twilight.
Also: Bella got a 52 on the Universal Mary-Sue test. Do it again; make sure you do it right.
