What's some projects to help out the enviroment when it's the season you might catch a cold? What I like to do is get pinecones and slab peanut butter/birdseed on them, string em' back in the tree, for the birds who have trouble finding food. heart But do the strings cause more harm than good? hmmm... rofl

That's a good question, and as long as the string doesn't have any bad chemicals in it it may be an extra for the birds as nesting material. ^_^

And I think that other stuff you can do is buy environmentally-friendly gifts for people! Wildlife organizations have a ton of them.

That's an excellent idea, and the strings are fine so long as the loose end of the string doesn't trail in the peanut butter. The birds are not likely to eat them if they're not mixed in with the food.^_^
Another cold-weather project that can be done is the wearing of warmer clothing indoors, rather than turning up the heat. It reduces energy bills and pollution- so if you talk to them about it, parents are likely to go for it even if they're not enviro-nuts like us.^_~

We have tons of blankets at home; I prefer to snuggle under a blanket with hot chocolate anyway, rather than being ain a comfortable warm house rooting on the coal energy plant. biggrin
Another thing you can do is set out birdbaths... remember to refill often though. People don't set out birdbaths in the winter because of freezing and such, but the birds still need water in the winter... actually, because of the dryer air, they need it even more. Because of waterfowl migrating, cleaning out the local pond of litter is a good idea as well.
Not so much environmentally concious, but I'm considering getting out a bunch of old blankets we don't use anymore, buying some of those hand warmers, and grabbing some bottles of water and driving around downtown giving the blankets, hand warmers, and water to the homeless, since lately we just had a huge snow storm and it's freezing.
If I think of any more projects, I'll be sure to post them on here. ^^
