What instrument do you play? If you play trumpet [which I do not.] then make the hole as small as possible and try frowning. If you play flute [which I also do not] then push out your lips and again, make the hole as small as possible.

if you play a single reed wood wind (wont even bother posting for double reed seeing as you probably don't play one if you're having scale issues, no offence) then try lowering your lower lip some along the mouth piece, have your upper teeth rested on the top of the mouth piecemake sure you mouth piece is good, i'd reccomend a 2 to 3 sized reed for begginers. That's about it.

If you play flute [which I also do not] then push out your lips and again, make the hole as small as possible. why would you make a trumpet embouchure as small as possible? it doesn't even make sense. if you don't play an instrument, and don't know how the acoustics of the instrument work...don't try giving advice on how to play. a trumpet should try to extend the "hole" so that it goes all the way across the mouthpiece. you want as much vibration with as little resistance as possible. the more "open" your embouchure, the more "open" your sound will be(it will sound bigger and clearer).

it doesn't exactly help if someone posts a question and doesn't look back at it for at least a week...
