How innocent are you with HP fan fics?
I actually made this one up myself! biggrin Start off with 100% innocence and subtract 5% for every one that applies. If you want to copy the list and bold every one that applies to you, then feel free. However, if you’re shy and would rather only give your end result, like “30% innocence remaining” for example, then that’s fine too. cool
Okay, here we go! Subtract 5% if you’ve read a fic with… Mild swearing Major swearing Mild violence Torture Character death Cross-gen pairing(s) Incest pairing(s) Het snogging Slash snogging Het sex Slash sex A het threesome (M/F/M or F/M/F) A slash threesome A foursome Bondage Dubcon Noncon Male pregnancy Such well-done angst that it made you cry Such overall amazingness that you spent all day/night reading when you should’ve been doing something else!
In case a few terms confused some of you (I doubt they did, but just in case): Cross-gen = adult/student relationship Het = heterosexual Slash = homosexual Dubcon = dubiously consented sex Noncon = non-consensual sex Angst = dark and/or depressing
This should be an intelligent discussion too, and not merely a silly quiz, so… How do you feel about higher rated fan fics? Are there some things that are too inappropriate to write about?

I only have 5% innocence remaining! It’s because the second that I encounter a chapter where a man exerts pregnancy symptoms I am outta there! After all, I truly have never read the pregnancy through (Just the hot sex that got them pregnant!) and I certainly never read the birth. Yuck! talk2hand Male pregnancy is just wrong and unnatural. I have nothing against people that like to read/write it, but it creeps me out out personally.
I dislike cross-gen, incest, and noncon as a general rule, but I’d be lying if I claimed that I NEVER read them.

Nothing is too inappropriate to write about. Freedom of speech and all, right? xd If we dictate what people can and cannot write, then we’re like an oppressive government. *coughMINISTRYofMAGICcough* However, there are some things that I prefer to not read (as listed above) and there are TASTEFUL ways for writing about certain themes. 3nodding

I have to admit that I'm 100% NOT innocent. I've read it all. Course, some of the things on this list I don't like reading, and tend to avoid them, but I have read them.
Personally though, I have no problems with any kind of fanfiction. Just because things doesn't fall into my taste, doesn't mean that others won't like it. And who am I to deny people what they look for in a fanfiction?
After all, it's just fiction. It won't hurt anyone. At least not intentionally.
(By the way Minerva, cute avatar!)

I'm 5-10% innocent still and the only reason that I have doubts is I'm not sure I stumbled upon a a foursome. The only one I am certain about is that I have never rad an Male Pregnancy because it creeps me out. I wouldn't have a problem with it if it was natural but eh. I don't have any problems with people who like to read it or write it but its not for me.

I don't have a problem with higher rated fanfics as I tend to read few a couple from time to time. To each their own is what I say. I don't think that there's anything inappropriate to write about but I do have my own tastes to these things and ignore what I don't like.
(After reading over this, I have found that my post sounds a lot like Minerva's. We have the same tastes in fanfictions apparently.)

Still 60% innocent, I see. hehe
How do you feel about higher rated fan fics? Are there some things that are too inappropriate to write about? Like Min pointed out, there are ways to write about something, and then there are ways to write about the same theme tastefully. I would rather read the tasteful versions if I find a story that discusses those themes.
I have my own standards of what I personally will not write and what I will not read, but I would never try to apply those standards to other people. Let them write and read what they will and let me do the same. ^___^

Im 100% NOT INNOCENT. I have read all kinds of fan fics. WHy I dont like some of them I have read them rather by accident or if its in the middle of a fic Im reading. I don't think there is anything inappropriate to write about, it just depends on how its written.

I'm not all that interested in reading the others in the HP genre, though I will admit, if I find an "implied but no actual scenes" I'll read a Star Wars slash between Obi-wan and Qui-Gon, so long as it is implied only. Just have never found a pairing that would interest me in that way in the Harry Potter universe and I'm not a fan of reading really graphic stuff, though I know that others are so it's not like I think they shouldn't be around, I just don't want to read them.
