Gift: Synesthesia. Marit naturally experiences a fusion of her senses. She can see sound. Something as simple as a tap on a wall or as complex as a symphony is vividly visualized in her mind. She loves music, and painting and uses both as means of expression. Because both forms of art are hugely warped by her fuzed perception it would be a stretch to call her traditionally "talented" at either. Music someone else might consider beautiful, she could see as an ugly hurricane and what may sound like nails on a chalkboard to someone else might look like the aurora borealis to her.
Virtues: Intuitive: Marit is smart, she's quick to pick up a concept and not likely to lose it again. She can easily grasp complex and abstract ideas.
Empathetic: She generally has an easy time reading and relating to people. She likes to be helpful, and usually has a word of comfort for someone in need.
Open-minded: Marit tries her hardest to listen before she speaks. She's always eager to hear a new idea or opinion. While she might not agree with that idea (one of her flaws), she's generally intrigued by the concept and would be hard pressed to shoot someone down without listening first.
Adventurous: She's always eager to try something new and would never turn down a dare. Her love of learning encompasses all aspects of her life. Whether it's a new class, a new place or a new friend she wants to experience it to her fullest capacity.
Flaws: Elitist: Because of her synesthesia, Marit has developed a sense of superiority over others. When angered or intimidated she likes to remind others that she has a "greater understanding" than they do. While she generally keeps her unique perception to herself, it also has a tendency to alienate her from others.
Argumentative: While she loves learning new things, and hearing new ideas, that doesn't necessarily mean that she'll agree with anyone. Often she has a hard time adapting to new ideas that don't jive with what she already knows. As such she has a tendency to be a pushy devil's advocate.
Moody: Marit has conflicting opinions of herself. She loves being her, but realizes she's not quite the same as anyone else. She has her good days where she's confidant in herself and ready to take on the world and her bad days, where everyone is seen as a challenge to be put in it's place.
Impulsive: Her adventurous streak can get her into trouble. Marit has a pride that doesn't take kindly to wounding. She will often get herself into trouble while attempting to prove herself capable.
